The Four Winds was the first Kristin Hannah book I read and I was so confused why people loved her so much, so I feel you there. I often find that she researches everything that people dealt with during the time period she’s writing about and has them all happen to the main character.
I started The Will of the Many a while ago but wasn't in the mood. I knew I had to put it down and pick it back up at the right time to give it its fair chance. You've definitely validated that decision, and it's pushed up my TBR!!
I’m so glad to hear you had all the same feelings towards The Four Winds that I did! It was my first Kristen Hannah book and I was soooo disappointed with the ending. I felt like it was all this build up for absolutely nothing. But also thanks to you I have read The Women since then and loved that one so now I know not all Kirsten Hannah books are this sad.
I have to agree with your thoughts on The Four Winds. She did a fantastic job of bringing the struggles of that time to life. It did get monotone after a while and I almost DNF'd it near the end because of it, but I decided since I was so close to finishing that I could do it. The ending was a bit of a letdown,
So glad you picked up The Will of the Many! Been looking forward to your review:) I got to about the 200 pg mark and took a break, but I am planning on finishing it.
I have read so many books in the genre similar to that of Kristin Hannah.. That is why i would really recommend you to read Khaled Hosseini. He has three books,i have read two of them and they have a beautiful bittersweet ending that leaving you smiling but aching. As someone who has watched all your reading and book vlogs,i think you would love his writing.
Omygosh this video is exactly what I needed cozz the last 5 star reads that I read also is the "As long as the Lemon trees Grow" and I read it since you gave it 5 stars 🫣
I think you will like If you could see the sun even more. It has more of a twist to it, and it's also cute and interesting. If you could see the sun is my favourite book by Ann Liang.❤
The thumbnail 😂 I love it. I haven’t had a 5 star since July either! But I have had a lot of 4 stars that I’ve enjoyed. I hope you read ‘I Hope This Doesn’t Find you’ by Ann Liang, I really liked that one!
I enjoyed The Will of the Many the whole way through, but I did not decide it was 5 stars until that last chapter. It set my theory crafting right off! The Strength of the Few is now my most anticipated release for 2025.
I wonder if you may like The Last Bookshop in London by Madeline Martin 🤔 It's a WWII historical fiction and has what you were saying you generally really enjoy about Kristin Hannah books. Sad but also heartwarming and hopeful. Beautifully written, immersive, you fall in love with the characters, and it's a love story to BOOKS! I am 80 percent of the way through it now and I can't put it down. So far it's a five star read for me!
Potentially 5* , because we all have different tastes, but.. I’d recommend trying: 1: An ember in the ashes (I think you have this one? It’s dark, but good) , 2: defy the stars (an older sci fi from a few years back.. it’s a space opera… with AI/human romance)I will die on this cross, but I loved their romance so much. 3: The blade itself by Joe Abercrombie (the first law trilogy is a masterpiece. Starts off slow but really crescendos) it is grim dark fantasy so be warned. Not sure if it’s your taste. But it’s mine. 4:illuminae (YA sci fi .. it seems light at first.. and like it wouldn’t be that great… but it gets so intense, has twists and turns and is written in a unique formatting). 5: Throne in the dark (villains and virtues series. The first chapter in book 1 trips some people up, but stick with it. it’s so funny and full of adventure. I personally found chapter 1 hilarious. But that’s me. The writing seems a little choppier than the rest of the book. It’s a comedy/ romance/ adventure story. With no spice but hints of it in book 1. And some spice in books 2-3 but if you read SJM books you’re probably okay with that. Just giving a warning incase. Also I wrote this as kids are getting ready for school so I’m sure my comment has loads of spelling or grammar errors. Forgive them :)

Everyone's raving about Kristin Hannah and The Will of the Many (which is still on my tbr) in the comments but let's not sleep on Ann Liang :) I absolutely adored This Time It's Real, a five-star for me as well!! And her other contemporary YA romance is also a five-star - I Hope This Doesn't Find You - and I loved it even more. I highly recommend picking that one up asap!!
Since you've got lots of series to go through... I won't recommend you start another one. However, I will keep recommending you to read more Brandon Sanderson. I know his books are more sci fi and less fantasy, but I think you still might enjoy them. The following 2 books are singletons but one of which is tied in to one of his overarching universes. It should still make sense even if you haven't read more of his works, but I really enjoyed these 2 books... anyways, my recs are: Yumi and the Nightmare Painter and Warbreaker.
Great video. I’m going to be honest, I was considering reading The Will Of The Many, but your explanation, although was intended to explain things, just killed my desire to read it. Not your fault, I’m very glad you did it, made me realize this book is not my cup of tea. I’m not a Sci Fi girl, hate cliffhangers and usually get bored by books that lack at least a small romance plot in there. So, right now? It’s a no for me, even with the amazing reviews. Maybe in the future? As the series progresses… Who knows… Will immediately add This time it’s real to my TBR though, never read this author before, I’m very intrigued. Kristen Hannah is an author that I’m avoiding this year, as I just can’t deal with sad books. Again: amazing video! 🙏🏻👏🏻

I just read my first Kristen Hannah book and I felt like she was doing her characters dirty with all the trauma she had them go through 😅😂 I can handle sad books and movies, I can handle hard topics, but I just felt that at a certain point, it felt like I was being emotionally manipulated for maybe no good reason. I could understand how some people might really get swept up and enjoy this type of novel, especially since I find her writing is well crafted while remaining accessible. But I don’t think I will be the person for her books. With that said, I will be adding the Will of the Many on my list as a longtime scifi girlie
