Having been an Aussie teen back in the 70's - I can vouch for the fact Aussie teens have calmed down a shitload since the 70's,but the spirit lives on,back in '73 I got a part time job after school at age 14 😂

Stepson dropped off going to school as he increased earnings going from hours after school to stack bricks to putting in hours before school and the free periods he was taking advantage of, became a roofer by year 11 in an apprenticeship program and bought first home at 24.

Extreme examples, but this is possible in Australia! We are aware of real life, and evolved, and prone to excess if unsupervised, misdirected or unmotivated! But yes, we generally mature earlier than Americans and have more down to earth priorities!

My brother-in-law quit school at 15 & did an apprenticeship. He owned his own flat / 2 bedroom apartment at age 21.

Lots of kids used to have jobs at that age but most of them have been eliminated, newspaper vendor/delivery, milk runs etc. Kids now just don’t have those opportunities and the responsibility that goes with it.
Interesting, a lot of my peers got married straight out of school (they’re all divorced now except for one couple).

My nephew started a mechanic apprenticeship at age 14 years 9 months.
His was doing bad in school & he was already repairing the family cars & motorbikes.
He asked his Dad, if he should quit school go for the apprenticeship. His Dad said go for it so he did.

I had a full-time job at 14 and 9months I was in retail and with commissions was earning more than my dad who was in the iron industry by the time I turned 16 . I left school because I was bored shitless and applied for about half a dozen jobs without my parents knowing, and i had been working for 3 monthe before they found out ,it wasn't that they didn't care ! I was a devious little bastard and I had pretended to go to school everyday but head of to work, I was found out when the schoos truant officer visited mum to find out why i wasn't at school . All hell broke loose but when ishowed them my bank balance everything was OK , school isn't for everyone and I've never missed out of anything through so called lack of education now that ive retired and have a million dollars worth of assets I know I did the right thing .

I started working for the olds when I was about 6, just doing stuff at home or the family business for pocket money. Started working in the store at about 12. Got a job at Maccas when they opened in town when I was about 15. Weirdest thing I couldn't get around when I visited the USA was that all of the teenagers' jobs were taken by old people. Like, why do you have old people working supermarket checkouts and at fast food joints?

Year 7 is first year of high school - most kids turn 13 & smoko is a coffee / smoke breaks & darts / coffin nails are cigarettes. 14 & 9 months is the minimum age to work. He is talking of a slab of grog mixed with coke - say rum & coke.

You seem awesome, I like your content very much. I wish you wouldn’t say what it do at the start of your videos. It means nothing and sounds stupid. Which is strange because you are clearly a smart young man.
