Estos eventos eran habituales en la tv publica española de los 80, que maravilla, y que pena si los comparas con los que hacen ahora al servicio de los politicos de turno, pero disfrutemos de la musica del fabuloso Kevin y sus amigos
Spanish TV never recovered from this kick in the ass. Ángel Casas was unique creating TV shows and programs. Kevin and Ollie in top form despite the despites... in the mood of the 80's. Casas interviewing Kevin. Now both somewhere far from here. Rest in peace Angel.
He played on the first album of Soft Machine! All psychedelic rock and progressive rock fans know him. Although I didn’t have the album, I know the lyrics of his lady Rachel by head, only because I heard it so often. Friends played it and it was one of the favorites of my coffee shop. His first solo album, Joy of a Toy, was also wel known.
In case anyone wonders, the little guy playing the lead guitar in the last two tracks is the marjorcan guitarist Joan Bibiloni (a.k.a. John B.B. Lonely), who played in Kevin's band in 1980-81. There's a Kevin Ayers album, Deja Vu, which he also co-produced.
Yes, this is an excellent video for all the players . Joy to see John on violin, Ollie being very creative, Kevin great choice of songs well done. Same with John's . Love this.
Still love the fact that where some US of A rock musicians could hardly converse in their native tongue, ie, American English, Mr. Ayers fields an interview in Spanish.
but to understand it is beautiful, everyone outside countrys with english as a native tongue and like this kinda stuff had to learn. I could tell my spelling is god or bad but i learn english from listening, reading lyrics and singing all toghether. plus all the people you can talk

GREAT AND VERY RARE PERFORMANCE!!! TODAY 71 YEARS AGO when KEVIN AYERS (16 August 1944 - 18 February 2013) was born... Kevin is for me same intersting artist as Syd Barrett!!!
Really enjoy the quality of all this, sound and image, this show to me is mind blowing, the talent is overflowing and they're as tight as can be, some of the best I've seen.
Wonderful set! Their onstage interaction (or lack thereof) makes me wonder if Andy Summers and John Cale both remembered the latter's ill-fated attempt to produce a single for The Police in 1976.
Ah love the different bits here -- bit ragged first part then the Andy n Ollie sparring - but love Africa @38 mins and the transitions - great to see so much of the man in pink -- its fun - not hi brow -- wish i had been in Spain at this time - would have made it to their mad pissed gigs (me, and probably them ;))
1:52< Still a happy family.........which was to crash in the 90's......... "Stop That Train" was in dire need of a Mike Ratledge distorted keyboard though.....
absolutely agree with sandspock- such a brilliant performance love - KA on top of his game supported/ assistance by great friends love them all. Thanks for posting!
I was their roadie for a few years , not this band . The band I worked for were Kevin, Andy Summers , later police Zoot Money, Charlie McCracken , rob townsend from Family
The song list is obviously missing STOP THIS TRAIN, at 43:00. What a fun, uptempo, and energetic version! Always great to see the more rocking side of his music.
I have always thought about it, it probably is some kind of jam or improv they worked out, it sounds so good though. I wish it could be added to an actual song.
@Javier Kútulas C´mon that is only very basic spanish not enough to comunicate fluently. You go to England and speak that level of english, nobody would care to speak with you.
To be honest, I would prefer the interview in English. I am a Spaniard native speaker, and I think that while Kevin Ayers understood Spanish language he would speak English to explain his thoughts include those ones about Mike Oldfield.
"I don’t want to say anything bad about Mike Oldfield, I like him a lot, he is like my son, he played with me when he was 17, and I saw something special in him. But I think his time has gone, his career begun and ended with his first record, a very good record."
@@KeepsOnBurning I'm not sure he meant that. That was what Angel Casas made him to say, I think he meant some of the first albums and not only the first one.
I saw them in a try-out in a music club somewhere in Mallorca. I knew the drummer Miquel, who I accidentally ran into two years ago... Still a great drummer, only with less hair now😂..

Discovered Kevin Ayers today...good end to a shit day.
You have a feast ahead of you....
indeed!
Well, the interplay between Ollie Halshall and Andy Summers... a dream come true...
Today the town seems like a tomb...

This is one of the best You Tube posts ever.. extremely rare, and excellent quality.

I saw a try-out in a small bar in Mallorca. And met with the drummer Miguel 40years later!

@@jannetteberends8730Hello buurvrouw,i saw Kevin in Bilzen festival 1973 ,muddy day but sun in our heads ❤
Anytime rock is alive we are alive too
15:39 Andy Summers, who celebrated his 80th birthday on December 31, 2022

Thanks, Jorge. That's exactly what I wanted to know.

John plays viola. Love this.
Still love the fact that where some US of A rock musicians could hardly converse in their native tongue, ie, American English, Mr. Ayers fields an interview in Spanish.

John Cale on viola. You can´t beat that!
Yes - Kevin fucked Cale's wife ("Guts")
a terrible defect. look at the todd rundgren crap
Definitely an original Icon....cool to see Andy Summers on some tracks . Great memories and excellent footage, enjoy 😉
It's incredible! I've seen Kevin Ayers giving interviews in 4 different languages at least. And no British accent in any of the idioms.
english, french, spanish and what else?

From Kevin's grup begins his carrier Mike oldfield. He bass quitar player.
Gran Recuerdo
Miguel Figuerola
Hardcore viola abuse from Mr. John Cale begins at 23:12 folks. Genius and insane.
Merece mínimo una ovación en el Maracaná. Es que las cagó de bueno, en serio.
Wow I have never seen this program with such excellent quality before ^_^
And the keyboard player is so wow!
you are sooooooooooo sexy, and wild, in this show. Combination of You and your black style behind the keyboards. Wow.
Genial Kevin !!!
Menuda Joyaza ésto.....👏👏👏👏👏
Unique material, great.
Wonderful set! Their onstage interaction (or lack thereof) makes me wonder if Andy Summers and John Cale both remembered the latter's ill-fated attempt to produce a single for The Police in 1976.
tremendo !!!! ... una mezcla de raíces simplemente genial ..... amigo de Syd Barrett sin duda alguna ....... genial !!!!
Ah and Suzi Quadro on the piano!

@John Paterson was this an incarnation of The Whole World, or was it later than that?
totally awesome
One presumes that Kev and JC had mended their, ahem, "differences" by this point...
Now that could have been an interesting take, if they had both performed Guts together here. 😅
37:55 just a reminder for me in the future hahahahahah
CRACK GRAN PERE COLOM..............¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

Espléndido !
Stop this train with Cale on violin.
25th Anniversary Stratocaster - classic
me gusta :)
Thats BOWIE on piano!
John Cale is so.... sinister.
kev's spanish was pretty good!
Didn't he live in Spain for many years?
Phil Lynott on bass
In the end /In the end...the glitzy blonde was outperformed by the pro. It's a viola, not a guitar....
ITS ERIC BURDON, IAN HUNTER, PHIL COLLINS, DAVID BOWIE AND PHIL LYNOTT!
On the keys, the mother of Courtney Taylor Taylor 😊
Andy Summers of the Police is playing here with this Motley Crew.
Is it me or is the rhodes keyboard mixed way down? course its fighting 3 guitars. :)
how about that andy summers.
i also want to know, what is the intro music? is it just the intro music of the show, or is it from a band? it's pretty rockin'....
I have always thought about it, it probably is some kind of jam or improv they worked out, it sounds so good though. I wish it could be added to an actual song.
reminiscent of psycho killer by the talking heads ,,,,,,,
Listen to Cale's Leaving It Up To You from his lp Helen Of Troy from 1975. There's the blueprint for Psycho Killer!
Andy Summers ladies and gentlemen
did no-one else notice that at the end of his interview he was holding a...
BANANA.
Hey; it's merely banan...amour!
super super super
Anyone know who the guitarist on last song was? He played a red hollow body and did the little Al Jarreau type scatting...
Joan Bibiloni from Mallorca
Passable Spanish from Kev lol.
barely passable, but that's not a problem.
@Javier Kútulas C´mon that is only very basic spanish not enough to comunicate fluently. You go to England and speak that level of english, nobody would care to speak with you.
His Spanish is very surprising
This is amazing. How do I get a copy of it?

Andy experimentando ...
Yes. Will Ferrell on drums. Sorry Mark. No offence meant but I only came here to see Ollie
He said bullshit on Mike Oldfield good era, seventies albums.
To be honest, I would prefer the interview in English. I am a Spaniard native speaker, and I think that while Kevin Ayers understood Spanish language he would speak English to explain his thoughts include those ones about Mike Oldfield.
Who is the guitarist doing scat in the last number?
Craig Madden Joan Bibiloni , Manacor (Mallorca), 1952
Wait,is that Chad Smith or Will Ferrell on drums?
What does he say about Mike Oldfield?
Musicians who has worked with Kevin, with a success solo career.
Yes. But what does he say about Mike specifically?
"I don’t want to say anything bad about Mike Oldfield, I like him a lot, he is like my son, he played with me when he was 17, and I saw something special in him. But I think his time has gone, his career begun and ended with his first record, a very good record."
He was so wrong.
@@KeepsOnBurning I'm not sure he meant that. That was what Angel Casas made him to say, I think he meant some of the first albums and not only the first one.
Love the part where Ollie challenges Andy
He's A Linguist.
He speaks English, Spanish and French?!?!
@Bryan ...and Malay.
3 down thumbs? are you mad (or deaf) (or both)
Why Kevin Ayers spoke spanish so fluently?
He lived in Deià, Mallorca for many Sears
