Wow.....very impressive! How intimidated I would be at first..... I truly wondered how it would come together. The artist is a true visionary of sorts...such an artist! Thank you for sharing this with us all. I really loved it. Paula
Mastery at it's finest Annie 🙌🏾 I congratulate you 💯💯💯💯 brilliant design and execution If i was that client i would have paid double at the end no matter the cost 💯❤️
What a wonderful garden. Just a gardener come in a couple of times a year to trim up and clean and it will only get better. Thanks for sharing this video, much love and peace. Blessings
At the beginning of this clip, I thought, Oh, No, not more boring modern box like concepts, but... Annie's ideas and implementation turned out to be better than the original plan. What a great outcome! The planting reminded me of the New Zealand bush and the sculptures really worked. The only jarring note was the guy who was a trifle narcissistic, although his suggestion to increase the height of the water feature, which looked fantastic btw, was a good one - he just needed to remember that the project was not all about him...
Lots of clever camera angles and beautiful individual pieces but oh dear ... The screens are like vacant advertising hoardings. The garden is a little green version of Phoenix, Az. The challenge here would have been to create a quintessentially English garden in the small space - bursting with flowers, etc. through the seasons.
Pipsqwak Yes. I thought that was a bad choice of design of conservatory for that space. I guess they didnt want to look at the side walls but they could have grown things up those walls. They could have built in trellis and mirrors so that they gave the impression of windows through the walls, or painted beautiful views on them.
Would have been better to allow sight to travel outwards to the neighbours roof. The mesh in itself and the idea of seeing the leaves through it is good but it is dominated by the frame and support for the mesh which form a too solid eye stopping boundary.
Usually more than the rest of us could afford. Custom made sculpture ... at least $2,000 each and the rest of the props another $3,000. The Bamboo is expensive, for the height and species $200 x 8 (I priced them locally where I live). Most of us do not have unlimited funds to play with, so we have to piece-meal it along. The waterfall, if you know any teens still in school who are taking metal shop, might be able to knock n weld something together, with the right incentive.
Tell me about it! As an Aged Pensioner I am starting a garden from scratch on a steep slope in hostile conditons! My 'other' garden are my gardening books. One can dream.
I usually scout n scavenge for odds n ends. I found an old beat up metal headboard (think brass bed), took it home, hosed it down and painted it. It now is a small privacy screen/border to carry sweet peas and morning glory. Out driving around you can usually find wildflowers growing by the roadside or the edge of a parking lot growing up through the cracks (keep a small shovel and a few pots in the back of the car for such opportunities). Also, don't be shy about knocking on someones door to complement their garden and asking for a few cuttings. Most people will oblige with a smile. Returning later with some of your own cuttings is a way of saying thank you.
Like the sound of your old brass bed headboard now covered in sweetpeas and morning glory! I have to say I think the gardens of 'real people' as opposed to landscapers have much more personality.
@Deb photos.app.goo.gl/S78SYhm6Eqdtz62u6 Coincidentally, today someone asked to see some photos of the garden. These are from late December to now. Unfortunately, in real time the garden only happens in seasonal bits and pieces and some of these flowers will never be seen again but others will replace them. A garden is a changing picture. A huge amount of hard work for an 'old girl' :)
I groaned when she said she liked FLW. Soulless, pretentious architecture, and the falling water house in PA is ugly blocks of concrete ruining a beautiful waterfall.
The fountain was cool, I liked the bamboo. All the rest, nah. What the owner needed was Charlie Dimmock! Now that's a woman who knows how to weave together "tropical" looking plants into a wonderful larger than life design.
Few years back on TV. Young British guy. Landscape designer. Clients with small budget's/ small yards. I thought he came up with some really creative plans. And he wasn't stuffy or arrogant. Anyone know the guy or show I am referring to? Love to see some of those episodes on You Tube. Young and tall. Say he was in his 20's or early 30's. Did work by himself.
Can I ask how do you find this content, I'm trying to find the BBC TV series called "Hidden Gardens" from 2003 but have had no luck in finding any video content anywhere online.
when bamboo is surrounded by lots of other strong rooted plants, it has no room to spread and if harvested/thinned out regularly, not a problem if a smaller types are chosen.
monumentally stupid to plant bamboo in a small garden. those walls would look spectacular with climbing roses and clematis on them , the trellises are already in place
wow I had no idea about this series of Small Town Gardens. 2003 and looking so contemporary. Beautiful. Not keen on the presenter who was a bit of a stereotyped gay man of that time. Nice that things have moved on in that respect.
It's hard to decide from this side of the pond, but do people in Britain actually like this James guy? It was only by sheer power of will that I made it to the end.
Ugly neighbors? What a term! I am NOT at all impressed with the fellow on this program. I do like the finished product & the homeowner seems like a really nice gal.
I would have used the facing wall Aluminum faced water fall then planted featured drama plant s or trees that reflect on the water wall instead of table and chairs sunken alu. centre seating.for table centre changeable fire . Hers just look too much!
Well I like the fountain! Lol, those plants are all wrong for that space; that bamboo will completely choke out the entire yard, and it will be forever in permanent darkness lol. The plants are all way too close together and have no room to grow, it just seems way too cluttered just for the sake of spending money, lol. That is a beautiful fountain though
Very claustrophobic. The sculpture won’t work, will get covered in grime and moss. Impossible to keep clean. Same with the screens. The plants will quickly grow too big.
I kind of like the guy, he has a weird sense of humor!!!! now ,the screens not to my liking, but the owner likes it sooooo be it! OY Not fond of the metal sculpture either aaaaaaaa water feature is nice though bamboo is quite aggressive. Ok all and all I can do a great job on my own lol
Looks like an given up factory terrain. What bad quality water feature. What ridiculous dilletantes. Who will crawl around and behind to clean up this senseless mess? A contortionist?
Love this cozy garden and everything in it! Amazing design!
Wow.....very impressive! How intimidated I would be at first..... I truly wondered how it would come together. The artist is a true visionary of sorts...such an artist! Thank you for sharing this with us all. I really loved it. Paula

Great design . Perfect foe the small garden!!! 👌
How much did this project cost??? 👌🇺🇸
What a wonderful garden. Just a gardener come in a couple of times a year to trim up and clean and it will only get better. Thanks for sharing this video, much love and peace. Blessings
Yea
Yes in deed, especially, after the bamboo has ruined all foundations, gorgeous.
I would like to see what it looks like today. The bamboo will grow crazy in such a small space.
I love this garden. The privacy, the lushness and the water. I love it.
Yes air.raid shelter atmosphere, gorgeous.
Great programme, funny presenter, made me chuckle. Fab garden, well done to the designer.
Wow! Well done!
I do love this take on a tiny city garden. I would have loved to have seen what they did with the conservatory as well, though...
Brilliant! Beautiful!
Beautiful, so peaceful.
After watching this, I feel proud of myself for creating beautiful garden with lot of plants and 💐 much better looking than this boring screens.
That sculpture is awesome! 😃🇬🇧
It need 25 square meters in a lawn, otherwise you hurt yourself every time passing by, in particular if you get older.

Just stunning I got great ideas from it thank you, n l thought it would b boaring
How will the bamboo not spread? I had a few small stalks of bamboo the spread to 50 x 10 feet approximately and grew through my driveway.
I would have liked to have seen some lighting among the plants and the water feature. That garden will not work well with a conventional porch light.
I have no words for that conservatory! I love my hall but then she builds a cement wall! She lived in America and the FLW concept of space!?
I liked the little tribute to Fallingwater. Nothing else.
live in the best gardening country in the world and plant a flowerless jungle.
The garden- must cost a shed load. The Man, obviously loves the sound of his own voice. Uuummmm.
Direct descendants of Piso have loadsa money through fraud, sure Arrius Piso aka Alpha to Omega aka Flavius Josephus was the ultimate fraudster
Ditch the conservatory and have a covered porch or pergola. The conservatory with the concrete walls is too claustrophobic in an already tiny space.
Pipsqwak Yes. I thought that was a bad choice of design of conservatory for that space. I guess they didnt want to look at the side walls but they could have grown things up those walls. They could have built in trellis and mirrors so that they gave the impression of windows through the walls, or painted beautiful views on them.
Agreed.
I think that high mesh screen makes it seem smaller.
Would have been better to allow sight to travel outwards to the neighbours roof. The mesh in itself and the idea of seeing the leaves through it is good but it is dominated by the frame and support for the mesh which form a too solid eye stopping boundary.
Love the allium sculpture and the falling water BUT noone ever divulges how much the completed garden costs!
Usually more than the rest of us could afford. Custom made sculpture ... at least $2,000 each and the rest of the props another $3,000. The Bamboo is expensive, for the height and species $200 x 8 (I priced them locally where I live).

Those metal screens look like hideous billboards cluttering up nature's beauty.
Yes, and in time won't they get dusty and dirty?
I groaned when she said she liked FLW. Soulless, pretentious architecture, and the falling water house in PA is ugly blocks of concrete ruining a beautiful waterfall.
Beautiful
The fountain was cool, I liked the bamboo. All the rest, nah. What the owner needed was Charlie Dimmock! Now that's a woman who knows how to weave together "tropical" looking plants into a wonderful larger than life design.
Beautiful! What a transition! Very wise decision to NOT include a grassed area. I am surprised that that area is called a garden & NOT a patio.
When she hurts herself for the first time going by that "sculpture" perhaps she will take her spade and damage it until it is dust.
The stone decking is clever.
Good Job

The Instant Gardener?
@@moniquemannaert3468 No. Googled that. Not it. But thank you.
@lorna let me know when you find it, please! 👍😊👒
so this is what Clint Eastwood was up to before he started movies
😂😂😂
I like the planting but the screens, sculpture and water feature are too modern for me. Must have cost a fortune though.
And such bad quality and such dangerous edges.
Where can I get the allium sculptures? They are beautiful!
Hello Margit I will see if I can find who made the Allium sculpture
The website for the person who designed the Allium sculpture is as follow: www.ruthmoilliet.com
@@martinhogg4940
Hello Martin, thank you very much for your effort to get the address out. 🌺👍🏻🌼
The garden looks wonderful but the presenter has to go back to theatre to play hamlet.
Sorry but this guy has spoilt what could have been a good video.
Can I ask how do you find this content, I'm trying to find the BBC TV series called "Hidden Gardens" from 2003 but have had no luck in finding any video content anywhere online.
Not my type of gardening or garden. Glad the world has all types.
fascist gardening
God this guy is hard to take.
Oh god, as soon as I saw that guy with the hat walking, I thought no, I don’t wanna watch this guy
Guy is a little obnoxious but I like that he questions the designer.
this can't be a very popular show, because this guy is so obnoxious! this is my first and last viewing ever
You are spot on. What an awful man. I expect his parents had a celebration when he left home. If he has moved out yet of course!
True! I could not stand his pompous ways either!!!!
Absolute agree. The presenter is a huge pain in the backside.
Same here
@@Noactualdirection 😂😂😂
These gardeners are so posh, I can't see them getting their hands dirty ever!
This is a oldie but goodie!!! Is there more?? :)
A heckling presenter😅
What happens when the bamboo takes over
when bamboo is surrounded by lots of other strong rooted plants, it has no room to spread and if harvested/thinned out regularly, not a problem if a smaller types are chosen.
It really depends on the variety of bamboo. Some varieties are not aggressive spreaders.
@@ekatlaterrible And what do you think about this monsters?
These monsters
monumentally stupid to plant bamboo in a small garden. those walls would look spectacular with climbing roses and clematis on them , the trellises are already in place
It's a matter of taste. Roses can also look quite tacky
wow I had no idea about this series of Small Town Gardens. 2003 and looking so contemporary. Beautiful. Not keen on the presenter who was a bit of a stereotyped gay man of that time. Nice that things have moved on in that respect.
I hope she never full down on metal statue. It looks like a death trap
Camp level: I can't even
Who wants to watch a bunch of snooty people going at each other? Not me!
"The shimmering bamboo dancing behind the gauze..." Um. Wha....?
😂😂😂
Okay, what's with the hat!?
lol
john sinclair is so up himself ... he is worse now ... not watching anymore
These are the sort of people who go to wine tasting events and shop at Waitrose! lol
It's hard to decide from this side of the pond, but do people in Britain actually like this James guy? It was only by sheer power of will that I made it to the end.
@cahenglsh - Don’t be so nasty. We Americans love Matt James. You should’ve seen his series The City Gardener many years back. He’s a genius.
Ugly neighbors? What a term! I am NOT at all impressed with the fellow on this program. I do like the finished product & the homeowner seems like a really nice gal.
This poor woman. She got framed.
Why didn’t we see the conservatory? I was gypped ! Also - Thought the table and chairs could’ve been more modern/sculptural. Otherwise PERFECT.
This bloke is a knob, couldn't watch it as he got on my nerves!
The presenter is annoying and has nothing interesting to add. Blah.
Thanks
I'm not keen I think a japanese garden would have looked amazing.
The wall needs something? Lights and huge sculpture... 🙏
Should they not have called Haddonstone?
Can’t believe she didn’t know how to pronounce Loquat!!! It’s lowcut!
omg what a horrible result. .. not inspiring at all and those screens ! XD
I would have used the facing wall Aluminum faced water fall then planted featured drama plant s or trees that reflect on the water wall instead of table and chairs sunken alu. centre seating.for table centre changeable fire . Hers just look too much!

The fountain is ugly too.(bad quality) and you are absolutely right. Delicious.
The wall is nice
Very claustrophobic. The sculpture won’t work, will get covered in grime and moss. Impossible to keep clean. Same with the screens. The plants will quickly grow too big.
@23:48 pretty much nails this guy's over the top, over Zealous presence on........A. Garden. Show. ....L...M....A.....O
She still is under shock.
They could have painted the walls it would of looked much better.
The gaudy screens in front of the plants??? Just "no". And I thought the client didn't like the deck. ??? 🤷♀️
The presenter is cloying and annoying.
The host is redundant. Trying my patience here.
She wanted "flamboyant" and ended up with BLAND!!!
This would be a fabulous programme if it weren’t for the crawling sliminess of the presenter. Yuck 🤢
Looks like an given up factory terrain. What bad quality water feature. What ridiculous dilletantes. Who will crawl around and behind to clean up this senseless mess? A contortionist?
It was too long winded for me , didn't see the end
What a disaster that "garden" is now!!
I would only pay for the limestone terrace, but cut the invoice for missing edges.
Awful!!! Dear God... and someone is even prepeared to pay for something like that?!?
"Swinging a small cat..." poor taste.
Not one flower out of the dirt.
Horrible
rdsssseeeee
I think I love Frank Lloyd .....
Wish she didn’t keep saying architecture, so annoying.
No other plants possible in such a mild climate. What a nonsense.
The are more pictures of people talking and ‘a’ plant than the whole garden ....rubbish
That man is so deliciously... rude!
results are crappy to say the best part of it is it is over, what a waste of money sigh
Turned out shite!
Haha, it’s so ugly.
Not a fan of that man..this is not interesting..he sucks big time...
What a boring show...!
