Not sure this - she - has anything to do with eras, truth and honesty have no boundaries of box slots that are convenient to control what "we" are meant to see. Patti explodes the pathetic myths of conformity - who cares if she is 70 or 27? The age challenge is yours and mine not hers. The challenge of her words is yours and mine not hers. Truth is truth.
For an old song her anger in this is NEW and so potent. Wow, What a show to see in Dublin after the Woman's triumphant success! Goosebumps! MY Feminist MOTHER!
I find this st aggering. I have known 'Horses' since it first appeared. Here, Patti is about the same age as I am. She must have sung 'Horses' and 'Gloria' thousands of times, yet here she makes it seem that this is her first time performing it. She displays an energy identical to what she displayed when much younger. She may be the greatest of all the rock stars and will still be performing like this when she is 100.
totally agree. i too bought the Horses album when it first came out and to see her perform these classics with such power and energy 44 years later is not just jaw dropping but truly inspirational. i was feeling old and over the hill - i'm not now. thank you Patti
Patti Smith is just as good as the first time I saw her in 1976!!! She, Lenny Kaye and Jay Dee Daugherty are still performing together, as they did when touring their first album, (the iconic) Horses, in 1976 as the Patti Smith Group. Richard Sohl, their Juilliard trained keyboardist died in 1989 of a heart anomaly that had never been diagnosed. Ivan Kral moved back to his home, the Czech Republic, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Tony Shanahan has been in the band since 1996, when Patti returned to her music career after her husband, Fred Sonic Smith, died of heart failure in late 1994. Patti is the very best and her music has sustained me since 1976. Her son, Jackson, is a killer guitarist (like his dad) and her daughter Jesse plays piano/keyboards. Both of them often play in the band. ❤️
si tu puedes ayudarme...yo no puedo entender que significa esta cancion que ella compuso...me encanta y esa energia que entrega cada vez que la canta,,quizas ya miles de veces....la lei subtitulada al español aun asi no la entiendo ...no me canso de ver el video de horse....tku...or other people say for me
First time I have seen her perform. Unbelievable. I believe she turned 75 years today, December 30th, 2018! Hope to see her perform on her 100th birthday.
Stunning performance. I've been in love with Patti Smith since I was a young lad way back in the '70's... she is a true rock legend, and I've got tickets to see her SF 10/7/19 show
Lovin the updated lyrics on Horses. Patti, you were my voice in '76 when I was a young teenager and nothing made any sense. You and your music and poetry gave me a sense of purpose and watching this gives me hope and inspires me as I hurtle towards my later years. Thank you
I've saw patti for the first time in Philly 1979, and at 71yo she's twice what she was then. Just try keeping up the full blast level of singing she's doing. Absolutely excellent
Wow, just wow. Sitting here in the middle of the night during self-isolation due to a global pandemic, and I felt like I was there. Patti rocks for our sins.
@Christine Steiner - understandably! There's several variations to be found here, among them Patti lighting a fire under Bono's popscherl and singing him of the stage..
One of the few (imo) true rock and roll ARTISTS ever. There have been plenty of great musicians, but few artists of Patti's caliber. I'm so thankful I raided my sister's record collection one day in the late '70's and pulled out Horses.
i'm 64 and have always preferred female artists. have heard of her but this is the first time i've seen or heard her perform. how can that be? must have had my head up my ....
Patti Smith ~ introduced to me by a work-college in the late 70s. I forgot his name ~ but never hers. Her beauty still shines! Thank you for sharing this!
Just as I thought I best identify as blue collar hippie, I watch my favorite poet ROCK OUT with all the anger this song invokes. LOVE this whole album, and every other album she has done.
Probably the greatest live performance I've ever witnessed(And I've seen Springsteen 4 times front-row). She's intense; as if convulsing. Patti can't contain her talent. She's a much better performer at 70 than she ever was in the early days. The band is cool as cucumbers too. I'm going to start enjoying coffee olive oil and brown toast in cafe's.
Think I commented on something 19 years ago. Am sure that I’ve contributed at least 17 views in the last 36 hours since I first watched this. All content seems a blur. This is f’ing life changingly inspired. I’ve loved her and these two songs most of all for a long time but now more than ever. You’re only not cool if you give up on it. Thank you Patti & Lenny for the lesson.
I saw her twice in one week... forty years ago... Reading Festival and Manchester. Still the most glorious of memories. May you rock forever, Patti. Check out 'Easter'... fantastic album.
When I needed to weep listened to the blues, to escape rock and roll....when I had to protest it was Patti...Bless her heart, she's back in the nick of time!
I heard Horses for the first time on WNEW, the greatest New York radio station. Some songs are just musical wallpaper. Others change their audience. Thanks, Patti!
FABULEUSE PATTI ! Tu as rien perdu de ta superbe ! Iconique, ensorcelante, "Chamanique".....! tu nous donnes envie de bien vieillir comme toi .... ! When Will you be back in France for a concert ??? We miss you so much JE T'AIME ENCORE PLUS que quand j'étais jeune ! White Magic Woman
She is still rocking at 70 not many left from that era especially female rockers. She is still a legend.
Such a badass!

70 is the new 21

To read her, to listen to her, is to be in the company of someone who has lived and loved for her art. Icon
She’s a goddess. I wish to age as beautifully and vibrantly as she is.

I LOVE how gravelly her voice has gotten with age, it adds a charm and such a genuine sound! Also gotta appreciate how she lets the music take over!
