    I love this shoe as my daily trainer. Soft in a way that discourages faster paces, which is exactly what I want when I'm just looking to build up weekly miles.

    I work in fab which is a clean room for microchips. I stand and walk for 12 hrs a day. I came across this channel and did some research which eventually made the decision to invest in the shoes. Now they are best shoes I have ever own. Now I bought 2 more of them for every day use and working out. Got rid of my Nikes and Vans bc they are not comparable to these shoes.

    Hello from the UK . I love the Hoka Clifton. I started on the 7 and now have the 8. All I can say is the comfort levels are outstanding. I was having real problems with knee pain after a long run which is why I moved from the Asics Kayano to Hoka . What a difference. The knee problems have completely gone . They may not be the lightest shoe but I have done half and full marathons in them this year with no issues. As I look around at the people in my running club I can suddenly see a lot more people who I know put a lot of miles in every week moving to Hoka. Certainly seem to have gained a decent following with good reason.

  • @wordsovsean8905
    @wordsovsean8905 Рік тому

    I bought these pretty much when they first came out. They were my main shoes at that stage, but I probably haven't done much more than 100kms in them. I just feel like I'm running in sludge. I tend to get tired/sore legs when I run in them. My feet feel fine. I've found the Saucony Endorphin Shift 3 to be better for me as they compress just the right amount and keep me rolling along. I feel like the heel has collapsed a bit in the Cliftons and forefoot now feels higher than the heel. There is little to no wear on the outsole, so I feel they'll last a while from that perspective, but I've basically retired them from running duty.
    I think the weight and gait of the individual runner can play a pretty significant role in what feels comfortable. For the record, I'm 183cm and about 73kgs.

    I got onto the Hoka train with the Clifton 6 which was so different to anything I’d ever run in before and I immediately loved it. I tried the Rincon which I thought was going to be similar just even lighter but it wasn’t. I got a second pair 6s and then recently got the 8 which I’m happy to say still feels as good as the day that I first tried running in the Clifton 6. They look a bulky shoe but really aren’t, quite lightweight as you say for such a well padded shoe. I’m a very average runner and faster shoes are a bit wasted on me (doesn’t stop me from trying them of course), I’m training for a spring marathon and the Clifton 8 might even be my race day shoe. There’s often talk of EVA being a bit outdated but I’d be worried that if Hoka used something else that a Clifton would no longer be a Clifton

    I just wish all brands would get rid of those oversized heel collar flares. Weighs way more than a pull tab, and is a scoop for gravel and dirt. And what’s wrong with using a shoehorn if necessary? Plus I still hate the look, but some brands have a subtle version that works just as well and looks fine (Hyperion Tempo, eg).

    Definitely a super nice shoe. I have it and use it for all my runs, but future races and time trials/speed work where i have the Nike next percent.
    I think the Hoka shoes mostly work for people who have a midfoot/forefoot strike and those who heelstrike will have trouble enjoying the shoe due to the relatively low drop from heel to toe.

    I loved my Clifton 7s but not so much the 8s. The ride and cushion are still great but I hate the thicker puffy tongue - too warm! I can't get as good a lockdown either, partly because of the tongue but also because the material over the ankle cushioning seems slippier. I wouldn't buy another pair of the 8s, hopefully Hoka reverses the changes in the 9s.

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  2 роки тому

      short answer: carbon x2 or rocket x.
      long answer: there'a lot of options that will depend on what your needs/preferences are. if you want a carbon plated option designed for the marathon distance, see short answer above. if you place a premium on comfort for the miles, then Clifton 8. the Mach 4 is a lightweight shoe with some bounce. probably my choice if I were to race in a hoka that wasn't plated. if the Clifton is too heavy but the mach 4 is not substantial enough, then consider the Rincon. then there's the Bondi, the Bondi x, and stability options.

      depends on a couple things.
      1) I believe the Clifton is available in a wide. I would consider that first.
      2) the shoes have different purposes. if you are looking for a race or workout shoe, then go with the X2. if you want an everyday shoe, go with the Clifton.

    bought them couple of days ago w/o knowing what to expect, just owning and liking a pair of the Clifton 6s and 7s for regular runs......conclusion after first run (~ 5k) yesterday: dont really feel it. Too "ordinary" for me...🤷‍♂️ Maybe they need time to "break in", but compared to the running experience I have with NB 1's ...meh 🤷‍♂️

    Great video and appreciate you spending time on a workhorse shoe like this. I used Cliftons in my last marathon cycle for easy and some long runs. Would've been nice to hear more about where the Clifton stands relative to its competitors in this video. Any shoes out there that fill this role as well or better than the Clifton?

    Continues to be a solid and popular in local clubs to train and run marathons. However, I have the Max Road 5 and as Seth, put in his review, "I'll take the Max Road 5 over the Clifton 8 any day of the week. " Good shoe battle! Both are excellent shoe shoes. Let's get ready to rumble!!!

    Hey I wanted to know if I should go for the wide one? What do you recommend? I wear the pegasus 37 normal ones as of now

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  3 роки тому +1

      more information needed to make a recommendation, so I will try to answer with various options:
      if you normally wear a wide running shoe, I'd get the wide.
      if you've ever tried a hoka before and had a good experience, I'd go with the size that you used in that previous experience.
      if you liked the sizing of the peg 37, I'd go with the regular hoka
      if you did not like the sizing of the peg 37 and you went with your usual running shoe size, I'd recommend going to a shoe store to try it on. or go with a regular hoka size.
      if you absolutely couldn't stand the peg 37 sizing, then probably go with a wide.

    This is the shoe that confused me more than any other. If y'all consider this one soft, we're just speaking different languages. Put maybe 100 k in them and haven't run in them for months. Heavy and unwieldy, and no pay off in softness. This from a huge Hoka fanboy...
