First of all those who say this was golden time, it certainly was because our kashmiri muslim great grandparents have been freed from the tyranny of Maharaja. It was the time when they were freed from doing forced labour somewhat of slave trade. They made muslim poorer and poorer and snatched everything over the decades. Just imagine whatever was daily needs, people usually had to grow it, be it food, or wood, be it the straw of the roof, be it clothing.... Everything. Even the lands Muslims had were leased on the basis that they will take 20% of produce and the rest will be added to Maharaja's government. Hindus and Sikhs were from Maharajas own community, they were spared. It was only the help of Interim Government and Constituent Assembly that the Muslim people got any relief when it banned such inhuman practices.
We should be thankful of our grandparents who didn't let themselves down in the darkest times and hold the rope of faith firmly and tightly.
