He is the metaphor of a problematic toxic man who eventually becomes controlling and abusive. Love can't fix everything and it was not her duty to ''rescue'' him from himself when he didn't want to be ''rescued''. To be together one of them had to completely change who they were - and that's NOT love. He wanted to change her so that they would be together on his terms, and Phoebe just wanted to be left alone after she understood and accepted that she couldn't ''change'' him. Those who blame it on Phoebe and think it was her ''duty'' to save him again and again are childish imo.
Not really, he's a character in a show that turned evil with all the power he absorbed then not being able to handle being rejected. Besides it was partly Paige's fault for casting the love spell on him in the first episode of S5 which made him stay.

@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849 Clearly you didn't watch the show very well 1. Cole became the Source and did try and fight it, Source didn't let him do very much but it couldn't consume Cole completely because Cole's love for Phoebe was kept alive. Even the Seer says that the Source should have overpowered Cole before long. So you are wrong, it was two individual souls inhabiting Cole's body. 2. If you were in the demonic wasteland with a snake that would eat you then would you not have come back? I know I would. I realised it only now. I've watched charmed so many times. But watched Dexter years later, also many times. Now suddenly I'm surprised to see Doakes in Charmed.

I like the subtle Kane reference with the hellfire coming out if the ground

That's the actor who played Doakes on Dexter and here he is playing a character named Dex 😄
