Bought the new PW 2021 on November 20. After everything I have heard about 10 week battery life and so on. I decided to see how accurate that was. Switched to Airplane for the most part and still have 30 percent battery left on January 5 about six weeks. Granted I still use my Oasis as my main device but still find these results pretty impressive. I think you only do one of these six things , Airplane mode is the most important. I know the extending the life of my Oasis also.

@@kommissar.murphy No, I believe the black background uses the E-Ink technology which doesn't use power so nothing is "painted". The white background uses 17 LED bulbs which use more power.
I just got the kindle basic as I wanted a sunken screen. The battery life isn’t as good as the paper white. I did turn page refresh off on that but there was too much ghosting so unfortunately need to leave that setting on. The e-ink screen on the PW5 is a Clara 1200 I think, it’s a much more efficient screen than on the basic model. Also the 4 LEDs in the basic don’t shoot off uniform lighting so again they need to be turned up brighter than the PW5. I think it has 17 LED. Will definitely just use aeroplane mode it totally makes sense.
Just checking! The special electronic ink screen, I've heard has to move the black pixels to form the letters and images. Wouldn't it be unproductive and drain more battery to put Dark Mode, since the whole screen would be black and only letters in white? I'm not a technician, but if that's the case, I wouldn't recommend Dark Mode. Please, correct me / inform me. Great video, keep'em coming!
it drains battery during screen updates ( moving black pixels) but in dark mode it needs to update only the area with letters, not a whole background - so for a battery it the same as "normal mode" as you only update small portion of the screen. Keep in mind that sustaining updated pixels does not require additional energy from the battery.

The only thing I can think of is that I have magnetic case that switches on the kindle do you think is draining my battery?
I bought a PW 11th generation 2 days ago and I find that my device battery runs quite a bit faster than people claim it to last, why?... When they say it'll last 10 weeks they ment only 30 minutes a day, I used quite longer than that maybe 4 to 5 hours a day.. I got like 2 days off on 50% battery, is my device faulty or it's normal??
My wife is experiencing incredibly low battery life on her 10 gen paper white. 8 months old. Flat in 3 to 4 hours. She reads a lot, but compared to her old kindle paper white (which lasted up to 2 months!) it's incredibly poor. Any thoughts?
Don't charge beyond 80% or drain below 20% as it extends battery life. It does mean you need to charge more frequently but your total battery wear cycles is minimised so you'll have a healthy kindle for years. This is important because you cannot replace the battery once it's dead.

Doesn't dark mode have to "paint" more of the scteen to make the background Black, therefore using more energy?

Make the text smaller and the line spacing smaller. It’ll put more text on a single page, which means fewer page turns.

That’s what’s happening to me so i don’t close it and I put it to sleep no book cover just blank screen

My Oasis 2 does not have the Power Saver option. It's software version is 5.14.1 but my new Paperwhite has software version 5.14.1.1

You should reset your device. For some reason, that has fixed the battery issue for me.

With dark mode I found out that my kindle has a dead pixel almost on the border but I couldn’t unseen it, so I never use it on dark mode 😂

my kindle oasis lost 30% over three days :(( my regular kindle (its not even a paperwhite) lasts more than that..

All tips followed. Battery only lasts a week and a half to 2 weeks. It sucks.
