    QuistJam, in my young day I loved soloing and jamming with pals on the guit, but in the last 6 years I bought a drums and I lost interest playing anything except drums. Found your channel by one of your drumless track and I subscribed right away, now listening to this track made me pick up my guitar this morning and played until I can't play anymore (blisters on all finger), anyway all this to tell you keep up the good work! you inspired me to get back to my guit and love it again!

      Can I cross on a G harmonica?

    • @lanehodnett8222
      @lanehodnett8222 3 роки тому

      @@rogerobyrne5308 yes you can both keys share the same notes aside that G has a C in it and D has a C#. Just be mindful of how you use that C (preferably I would use it as a passing tone sparingly) and make sure to keep the key center focused around D

    In the beginning. Like 8-9 seconds in…I can’t figure out how you get that tone/sound.
    Closest I get is fingerpicking the string up word so it sorta snaps back down and then immediately after I take pressure off the fretted finger. Close but no stogie.

    Thanks very much! All of your backing tracks are great (there are enough excellent blues backing tracks that I never run out of them anyway). I have a theory question, or maybe it's just a question of how I hear things. Thank you in advance to anyone who can give me some insight on this.When I go to the IV chord (the G here, but for me this applies to harmony on the IV in all, or at least most, 12-bar blues), playing the flat 3 of that chord doesn't sound right to me unless it's a minor blues. Should I be accustomed to the sound of Bb against G in this tune, or is there a good reason my ear is rejecting it? (I know everyone's ears are different and I'm willing to accept the limits of my hearing, but I wonder if there's more to it). If the rhythm is right any note sounds fine, but I mean in general, the flat 3 of the IV chord sets me on edge. Is it just my preference? If so, I'll continue to honor it

    • @QuistJam
      @QuistJam  8 років тому +2

      +Don Deering you are very much on the right path here. Yes indeed you can make any note work, given the right rhythm and phrasing and yes the minor third of the IV chord does stick out on a blues like this because it's very much a major chord kinda vibe. Try bending it up to the major third for example... The minor third works on the I chord with more ease than it does on the IV and V chords... I hope that helps 🤘

    • @DonDeering
      @DonDeering 8 років тому

      Yes, thanks, it does. Just trying to settle it. I thought in theory it was supposed to work.
      But the flat 3 on the V, I don't have any problem (in the key of D, it's C, that's also the flat 7 on the one).
      Thanks again, just wanted some kind of explanation.

      It is a major blues progression, you can improvise using note coming from major and minor pentatonic according to your taste.
