  • Opening in 1927, Wildcat at Lake Compounce is Bristol, CT is one of the oldest roller coasters in the world still operating. Unfortunately, it was also seen as one of the ROUGHEST wooden roller coasters in the world still operating :). Thankfully, early in 2023, Lake Compounce announced that Wildcat would be closed for the season in order to receive brand new track from renowned wooden manufacturer The Gravity Group. When I reviewed Wildcat back in October of 2022, it received one of the worst scores that I gave any ride during my 365 reviews. So I was verrrry intrigued to see how it was riding after the coaster officially reopened in April of 2024. Is it actually good now?! That question will be answered in today's video, along with a full vlog of everything else happening at this charming New England park. Enjoy!

Was at LC yesterday (30 Aug 2024) for the 1st time as a patron since 1997. I gotta say the park at times looked dated & every bit her age (motorcycles in kids world could use pressure wash) Twisters safety bar bit my foot on release, Zoomerrand was down, but WOW! Wildcat was so much more fun than I remember. Fast & aggressive, you forget she's almost 100, doesn't feel it. Reminded me of old Cyclone at Riverside (now 6 flags) before the remodel. Boulder dash was running. Went at 8 pm as drone show was starting, and OMG! The drop was great being able to see the park lit up & the trip through the trees in darkness was light space mountain but with the clank & growl of the wooden beast she has the heart of. Nighttime made its perception so much faster than the 65-70mph. Rapids was closed also. Sawmill was great, I still remember when it was where BD is now behind the ballroom but the wait time signs are misleading. Log flume had 10 min on sign, was 40, BD had 45 min, was 30 (not a bad thing) but wildcat has no sign AND was an hour wait. Cool channel from a fellow CT resident. 🇺🇲🥩🥓🥃🍻🇺🇲

Appreciate the channel love!! This sounds about right for Compounce lol, absolute disaster in areas, but can still draw you in with top tier experiences

Man, you kill it with these vlogs! Really excited for my park season to kick off shortly. Lake Compounce is looking great, hoping to get out one of these seasons (fingers crossed I can ride Boulder Dash)!

I didn’t even realize that Boulder Dash and Wildcat were in the same park lol. I’ve always wanted to visit here, but it’s definitely out the way for me. The park looks great though, you can see there investing into the park. It’s crazy how expensive parking is getting at parks lol. The digital wait times are finally coming to more parks, and I’m glad. You can tell that path goes to the unknown 😂 I’m intrigued to see what you’ll think of the Grizzly retrack now, great first vlog lol.

Thank you Angelo! Gotta try to get up here for SFNE too!! I actually have ridden the new Grizzly! It’s soooo much better, just haven’t made a video on it

Went opening day and loved the cat. Rode middle and the front row, better airtime in the front later in the day obviously but great all around. Airtime on all hills. Agreed that Phobia is slept on. It never has a line and rules. What's your Boo Blasters top score?

Busch Gardens Williamsburg is 37 to park and Six Flags Great America wanted 40 dollars this season to park. Now I do have a diamond pass, so I didn’t pay the 40. I also didn’t pay the 37 at Busch because the Newport News visitor center offers the parking for 28. Eitherway parking is getting insane.

It’s the most egregious charge for any park, especially those that don’t continuously add investments. Where is the money going then? 🤔

I live 5 hours away and am dying to ride Boulderdash. Should i make the trip and also hit SFNE. I think Superman would be my #1 steel and Boulder #1 wood!

They probably only cut down the trees for construction. They'll grow back in 2-3 years.

@coaster365 well... some trees. Pines usually grow very quickly. Oaks do not. I assumed that the trees there are pines, but that might not even be accurate 😆

Great job! Rode it in 1989. It was "ok" then but nothing special. Visited the park in 1984...it wasn't even running then.
