- PVC Schedule 40 Yard Drain for Flat Yard NO SLOPE
It's easy to drain a flat yard with no slope. We're showing you a demonstration with PVC Schedule 40. This Basin was made for PVC Schedule 40. It hooks right up to this Basin. We're using 10 ft pieces of PVC.

PVC Schedule 40 Yard Drain for Flat Yard NO SLOPE
My man, you look as seasoned in drainage wisdom as you are old. Trust me a 33 year old tradesmen, it’s a compliment. ❤
👍 Appreciate you!
Thank you for finally using a smooth bore pipe for a surface drain. I can't tell you the number of people I've had to explain that if corrugated pipe was so good, we'd use it in plumbing to flush crap.
This is all the reasons to run corrugated outside and PVC inside.

When to use a French Drain vs a catch basin?
The man is giving out pearls here. Wonder if corrugated solid would make for a better drain system over solid pvc?
In the Sunbelt region, a lot of contractors and homeowners are using PVC, and all our parts are made to accept PVC as well. We only use corrugated pipe with all of our systems here in the North. Corrugated pipe expands during a freeze and contracts during a thaw without cracking.
Big fan of your videos, I'm up here in the greater Detroit area as well. Installed some of your older downspout kits with good results, thanks.

@@FRENCHDRAINMAN What about the Midwest ? here in Missouri -PVC or corrugated?
@@kevinyoung8186 with all the rocks we have in Missouri...corrugated all the way.
Very Nice 👍 Sir. Question are those catch basin for 3” Sch 40 pvc fit? Thank You.
4" pvc. If you want to use 3" pvc, just connect with 4" to 3" reducer.
Thanks 🎉
Do you ever install 2 discharge pop emitters side by side to move a lot of bulk water?
Yes, I show how to do that in this video

@@FRENCHDRAINMAN thank you so much! My wife and I are planning it out, but we are sold on your product. Can't wait.
I ordered a 4' downspout cleanout with leaf filter for sch 40 pvc. Can I hook it up directly to the bell end of the pipe without cement?
It doesn't go in the bell end. It goes in just regular 4 inch anything. And it just slips right in. It doesn't need to be glued.
@@FRENCHDRAINMAN that’s what I thought. Thanks
What glue/cement do I use to attach the pipe to the basin?

Your videos are the best. Thanks. If yard drains and downspouts all exit onto a steep hill. How can one spread out the water discharge so it doesn’t erode big time in one area?
Rip rap
Question: this video shows a horizontal distance of 40 feet, and a vertical distance of 17 inches. How would I put clean out catch basins for a yard drain line that spans 100 feet? Using the slope from this video, 100 feet of horizontal distance would be a vertical distance of 2.5 times what we see in this video. 2.5 x 17" = 42.5", which would be too deep to clean out by hand. What do professionals do?

what happens if bell is on other side, my system has the bells going the other way? thank
Don't sweat it. You're fine. Guys will make a big deal over that, but it's not that big a deal.
Thankyou, My gardner convinced me the bell should be on the upside, I am in Calif or I would have come to you in the first place, thanks again@@FRENCHDRAINMAN
What about a negative slope? It's common for me to find backyards that slope toward the house, and a driveway or something prevents me from running the water to the low ground and daylight it
in front of the house. Is it just a fact I have to send the water to a dry well 25 feet from the back of the house to a dry well where the yard has a higher surface grade level? Worst case the pop-up emitter on the top of the full well lets water run back on the surface towards the house (That emitter would have to be lower than the bottom of the leaf trap for sure. Is that the solution? ( I am in the same Nothern climate like you. I don't trust pop-ups in winter for downspouts)

Are you able to ship to Canada? I’m in the province of Nova Scotia.
I'm curious. Why did you choose to make a video about PVC instead of HDPE? PVC is less able to withstand the freeze/thaw movement, as I understand things.
There's a lot of people using PVC in the Sunbelt region. All of our parts are made to fit with PVC pipe, too.
Corrugated Pipe is much better for outdoor yard drainage, in my opinion, for many reasons.
@@FRENCHDRAINMANThanks for replying FDM! I'm still trying to make up my mind on whether to use corrugated like you do, or go with HDPE. I live in lower NY, hardiness zone 7a. I know you swear by the corrugated, but I will have to put my drain lines near large shrubs and trees.
Seems like a waste of material to run a big loop of it at the sump well. Just run directly to an inlet. Beautiful job.
This creates culux mosquitos in clay soils in the south, Even if you drill holes on the bottom , it will leach until it doesnt. For the south. This is a huge no no
After the storm is done, people in the south cap them with this solid cover

@FRENCHDRAINMAN the big traditional french drains/curtain drains work best. Guarantee. We just installed a duplex with 400+ ft.. this yard with less than an inch would form a river a foot deep. We just got a week long rain. No catch basins involved. I cant imagine someone would go around placing solid lids and then removing them for a handful of basins around the yard in between intermittent rain. Especially if they are older.
