I saved quite a few for awhile until I was shamed into letting em go. Now I wish I'd hung on . I kept some and I want to make a lamp out of liter sized Maker Mark ...I haven't researched it yet .
I would love to see an "Island of Misfit Whiskeys" episode. It would be fun to compare what y'all don't like vs. what I move to the back of my cabinet.
If you do the math- 2 people times 6 years times 52 weeks, it is really a relatively small amount per day. I never doubted them but I had to do the math, not to see how much they drink but to see how much I drink.
I just want to mention how much I appreciate IBN production value. It’s by far the best in whiskey-tube in my opinion, and it’s clear how much time you put into your videos. We all very much appreciate it! Thank you Chad and Sara! 🥃
I save some of my bottles. These are ones that have been signed by Jimmy Russell, Bill Samuel's, and Freddie Johnson. Also Willett bottles, and that's just a few. I feel better that I am not the only one keeping empty bottles.
Did I see Belle Meade Reserve in your misfit whiskies? That is one of my favorites. Glad we have different palates. Thanks for helping me along my whiskey journey.
I havent watched a video in a long time. But everytime u show your collection im just in awe. One if these dsys ill get there. And the light fixtures are awesome. One for above a pool table would be sick
Wait... They destroy empty Pappy bottles?!? What? Another reason to hate counterfeiters and the secondary. 🙄 Thanks. Like I needed another reason for that. Great video. Keep it up! 👍🏻🥃
I usually save 1-2 screwtops bottles for emergencies. If I break a cork or bottle then I can use the screwtops to save my whiskey. Another bottle I've saved is a Knob Creek that I got to fill myself at Jim Beam since it has my thumprint on it and has a story behind it.
I love upcycling almost everything I use from kombucha bottles to some cosmetic and condiment bottles depending on the material, got glass cutter is some serious machinery that's something I need because I tried using one of those handheld Glass cutters and let me say that did not turn out well neither did the flaming string tiktok hack😂 nevertheless glad to see you guys putting these things to good use and giving tips for us at home cheers and keep up the great content!
It's ironic, I told my wife I'd like a bottle cutting kit for Father's Day. I don't plan on doing enough to justify buying a wet saw, or even a diamond blade for my miter saw. Hopefully a few of my own candles and maybe that light fixture (that I asked about in a previous video AND WAS IGNORED! :) ) Perfect timing for this video.
Sadly, I didn’t want to pay to move my empties. So I am starting over again, but the pendant light is definitely on my list! (Can I borrow the tile cutter!) ;)
Great ideas! I tried keeping empties around for a time, but my husband about killed me so no more of that lol. I do keep Booker's boxes though and repurpose them for storage/organizers.
That’s awesome! I saw the different candle scents you have. Have y’all tried infusing the candle wax with real Bourbon to get a scent or does that not work?
I was thinking "that's a lot of bottles", but then I did some math and figured that even a single person that drinks very modestly could empty at least 15 750ml bottles a year so it adds up and it would be wrong to judge a person who might end up with a garage full of empty bottles.
It’s about 7 years of collecting and they aren’t all from us. People would come over and leave a bottle or give us some empties, plus we’ve had lot of help from friends to drink our bottles, too 😉.
Chad can’t be the only one out there with sentimental bottles. What about having people send you their sentimental bottles and you turn them into candles for them?
I never considered the counterfeit aspect of a bar giving or even selling you their empty bottles. Is this an agreement with the distillery that they destroy the bottle or is this some ATF rule/law that they are required to follow?
Nice ideas 👍. I wonder if there’s a way to remove the paper labels from the bottles without tearing them🤔. Would be cool to make a collage from the labels of my favorite bottles and frame them. Then recycle the bottles.
Sometimes soaking them works , sometimes not ..they will tear . There was a bar in Durango that wall papered the bathrooms with beer labels ...it was really fun.
i also can't throw away bottles. personally i'm thinking of turning them into ehhh... "tobacco smoking accesories"? i think that's a legal term in america. either way - they put too much effort into designing these nice bottles for me to just throw 'em out.
Love the bottle candles, but aren't you guys worried about any of the brands coming after you for repurposing their bottles? What if Old Forester wants to start making its own candles? How's that work for you guys?
the worst that will happen is a cease and desist, in which case they can just move those particular bottles out of the store. IBN isn't trying to mislead anyone about what these products are.
Buying the last ounce of Eagle Rare 17 got me the empty bottle to take home. Maybe someday I'll fill it with regular Eagle Rare as an April fools joke.
This was the best episode of Hoarders I've ever seen! What fun.
I saved quite a few for awhile until I was shamed into letting em go. Now I wish I'd hung on . I kept some and I want to make a lamp out of liter sized Maker Mark ...I haven't researched it yet .

Chad and Sara are too nice to openly slaughter crummy offerings. Not their vibe.
@@K0okyKats Agreed, not our vibe, but everyone can’t like everything, right? I think we could find a tactful way to talk about things we don’t like :)
I make lamps with old bottles so I really enjoyed this video. Thnx
I'd love to see the misfit island cabinet!
Great idea with the candles.
Wow. Not judging but I didn’t realize how much you two actually drink!! 😮
If you do the math- 2 people times 6 years times 52 weeks, it is really a relatively small amount per day. I never doubted them but I had to do the math, not to see how much they drink but to see how much I drink.
Great idea. I recently had to throw away 2 big trash bag full of empty bottles I had accumulated, and it pained me.
Island of Misfit Bottles? Sign me up, Rudolph!
Very interested in seeing am episode on misfit whiskies. At this point I deem you whiskey geniuses. Thank you for another very enjoyable episode
I just want to mention how much I appreciate IBN production value. It’s by far the best in whiskey-tube in my opinion, and it’s clear how much time you put into your videos.
We all very much appreciate it! Thank you Chad and Sara! 🥃
Yes - misfit whiskeys video, please. Glad to see someone else saves bottles. 😳
Love that Kentucky shirt in mirror @1:02. My kid is going to UK in the fall like his parents and gramma. #GBB. 😸...good work guys!
My favorite bourbon channel. My other is the Liver Doctor
I save some of my bottles. These are ones that have been signed by Jimmy Russell, Bill Samuel's, and Freddie Johnson. Also Willett bottles, and that's just a few. I feel better that I am not the only one keeping empty bottles.
How about a cork upcycling video? I have a growing collection that I need some ideas for. I call it my serial killer trophy collection.
awesome episode, tons of golden nuggets of info!
Thanks!
That is really such a great idea to repurpose the empty bottles as candles 👍🏻
This is REALLY cool! Love the upcycling concept and what you are doing with all the glass! Cheers!
Thanks, guys!
Did I see Belle Meade Reserve in your misfit whiskies? That is one of my favorites. Glad we have different palates. Thanks for helping me along my whiskey journey.
Nope! We love Belle Meade. None of the bottles from the island of misfit whiskeys were shown in this video.
I had candles made from empties and the scents were based on my tasting notes. So fun!
very cool video, thanks for the ideas!
I saw some candles like these at a restaurant called Whisky Cake in Texas. I totally LOVED them. I will absolutely buy them from you.
I use the empty whiskey bottles to bottle MEAD which I make.
I havent watched a video in a long time. But everytime u show your collection im just in awe. One if these dsys ill get there. And the light fixtures are awesome. One for above a pool table would be sick
Everyone thought I was crazy saving my bottles. I knew it was a thing, and I thought I had a lot (36). I can’t seem to throw them out.
Never new counterfeiting was a thing......Great video....Cheers u 2....
Wait... They destroy empty Pappy bottles?!? What? Another reason to hate counterfeiters and the secondary. 🙄 Thanks. Like I needed another reason for that. Great video. Keep it up! 👍🏻🥃
Thank you for sharing , so cool
Very impressive, such a pleasure tuning in and getting updated. Very resourceful too! Congrats on your successes.
Glad to see you guys reusing them! Hope you aren't still stuck in the middle of all those bottles! Ha
Looking for the next episode of “Bourbon hoarders, buried alive”
Shucks! And I just recycled a bunch of bottles! Great episode and well-timed! (Otherwise I may have been tempted to try to keep ‘em all!)
Just bought two! I wish you guys great success with this endeavor!
It's insane you kept all those bottles.
Insane is as insane does :)
Love the intro 😂
That is very cool!
Sarah & Chad, you should make whiskey candles out of your Glencairn Glasses (both the standard & Wee glasses)! Just an idea. 😉
Hey, good idea, thanks Marty! We need to order some wee glasses!
Nice. A little behind the scenes. Very cool.
I love making lamps out of bottles, we even made Halloween lamps out of the skull vodka bottles. Lots of great ideas out there. Cheers friends 😃
I usually save 1-2 screwtops bottles for emergencies. If I break a cork or bottle then I can use the screwtops to save my whiskey. Another bottle I've saved is a Knob Creek that I got to fill myself at Jim Beam since it has my thumprint on it and has a story behind it.
Don't forget about turning them into table lamps too! I've done a few and they turned out great!
Yep! We talk about that towards the end of the episode, too.
Thank you for this episode now I can finally justify to my wife why I need to keep all my empty bottles even if they just stay in totes for years
I checked out your web site - All the cool bottle candles are out of stock! I’ll keep checking😀.
Good commercial to explain your candle business
I love upcycling almost everything I use from kombucha bottles to some cosmetic and condiment bottles depending on the material, got glass cutter is some serious machinery that's something I need because I tried using one of those handheld Glass cutters and let me say that did not turn out well neither did the flaming string tiktok hack😂 nevertheless glad to see you guys putting these things to good use and giving tips for us at home cheers and keep up the great content!

So cool!
Island of misfit whiskeys episode. Please.
You two have amassed an amazing collection! How long will it take to drink just what you have today🤣🥃❤️
So cool I think I’m gonna get a candle
My biggest beef with my saved bottles is removing the labels. Wife uses them in crafts and MAN getting the labels off stinks
Sadly, I didn’t want to pay to move my empties. So I am starting over again, but the pendant light is definitely on my list! (Can I borrow the tile cutter!) ;)
Those we did old school and scored it with a bottle scorer and then heated and cooled it until it separated!
Gosh, I thought I was wierd collecting my whiskey bottles. I've got about two dozen right now with more on the way. Collected over many years.
Chad’s don’t like to throw away bottles, OKAY SARA 😂
Love that shirt
Thanks!
Just bought a candle. Thanks!
Let’s see more island of misfit whiskies! Curious what else is hiding!
Great ideas! I tried keeping empties around for a time, but my husband about killed me so no more of that lol. I do keep Booker's boxes though and repurpose them for storage/organizers.
Same here with the Booker’s boxes! Tell Justin Sara feels his pain with keeping the bottles, though. It wasn’t easy haha.
I'm not sure if someone else mentioned this or not, but have you tried melting the cut edge to smooth it out?
Great pepper sauce bottles
Obsessed!!!!!
That’s awesome! I saw the different candle scents you have. Have y’all tried infusing the candle wax with real Bourbon to get a scent or does that not work?

How about cutting a bottle and making a cigar ash try out of it.
The Island of Misfit Whiskeys is a great idea! But to make it even better, Chad needs to dress up like Yukon Cornelius for the whole video.
I like using my empties for an infinity bottle.
holy cow, did you two drink all those bottles?? wow.. thats a LOT of bourbon.. might need to get that liver checked..hehe..
We’ve done that for a few people so far! :)
I never considered the counterfeit aspect of a bar giving or even selling you their empty bottles. Is this an agreement with the distillery that they destroy the bottle or is this some ATF rule/law that they are required to follow?
I don’t think it’s a law, more of a golden rule to follow for everyone’s good.
Nice ideas 👍. I wonder if there’s a way to remove the paper labels from the bottles without tearing them🤔. Would be cool to make a collage from the labels of my favorite bottles and frame them. Then recycle the bottles.
Heat gun or hair dryer maybe?
@@leonardskinerd7758 thanks for the suggestion! I’ll research that idea.
Sometimes soaking them works , sometimes not ..they will tear . There was a bar in Durango that wall papered the bathrooms with beer labels ...it was really fun.
@@e.clements819 thanks! I can try that too.
I held my breath in fear that you were using a Ron Popeil cutters from TV.
Show us the misfits!
My kid collects them...lol
how about a bottom cabinet blind to the bottom pick.. the worst of the worst..
I was the 1,000 like 🤩
I wish that meant you won something! But regardless, we appreciate it!
Augh yes, the sustainable addiction to a pursuit of happiness never to come. Just one more.
Nice.
i have a empty bottle of wild turkey tradition on ebay right now. idk if that one is in your collection or not
My kids grew up drinking out of old wine bottles cut down to glasses. Am I a bad parent?
like a monument to your livers
Hello chad and Shara. Hope y’all are doing great today. I would love send some pics of my bottle upcycling! How do we get in contact?
itsbourbonnight@gmail.com :)
i also can't throw away bottles. personally i'm thinking of turning them into ehhh...
"tobacco smoking accesories"? i think that's a legal term in america.
either way - they put too much effort into designing these nice bottles for me to just throw 'em out.
i though upcycling was what lance armstrong did
Har har
What are the deets on the saw setup?
why don't distillers find a way to get their bottles back and reuse them?
Love the bottle candles, but aren't you guys worried about any of the brands coming after you for repurposing their bottles? What if Old Forester wants to start making its own candles? How's that work for you guys?
the worst that will happen is a cease and desist, in which case they can just move those particular bottles out of the store. IBN isn't trying to mislead anyone about what these products are.
I've thrown away ~150 whiskey bottles and now I hate myself.
Buying the last ounce of Eagle Rare 17 got me the empty bottle to take home. Maybe someday I'll fill it with regular Eagle Rare as an April fools joke.
How do you afford it all?
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎😎😎😎
I get it but for me it's guitars. I'm guitarded
What saw do you recommend?
?How do you put up with him. Ha must be love
