  • A quick overview and discussion around the SOG FastHawk!
This one in particular is a buddy of mine’s who’s used it mostly for camping tasks and it has definitely been put through the ringer.

The fast talk is basically using Peter Lagana’s Vietnam Tomahawk design. He purposely chose not to have a beard on the tomahawk due to the fact that a beer can get snagged while you are engaged in hand to hand combat

The Cold Steel Trail Hawk is pretty hard to beat for a value chopper. Their Spike Hawk looks like another viable option.

People definitely dig the trail hawk by the sounds of it! I’ll definitely have to get my hands on one to mess around with.

Sog tomahawk would be fun. Dont know if ill be doin any tomahawk fighting soon. Small camping ax prob more practical and sog would be fun to swing around responsibly.. other tomahawk is fuggly.. thanks for vid

I’ve been very much in the same boat as you in regards to this. My mind has switched though as I’ve had more sketchy wildlife encounters in the woods with other predators. Knives are great, but being able to quickly get a bladed impact weapon with a bit more range has it’s advantages.
So long as it still cuts wood and does camp tasks well-which my Hogue hawk most certainly does-I’m on board with a “tomahawk” over a traditional camp axe.

    The Fast Hawk is great.
I like the Voodoo Mini Hawk better. I took the head off of a Voodoo Mini and put it on the longer handle of the Tactical Hawk and it’s now one of my favorites.
I tried to get SOG to put the longer handle on their Mini Voofoo but so far, they haven’t responded.

The Fiskars are tried and tested. Made in Finland, and virtually indestructible.
Even though I prefer traditional axes, my go-to “hawk” is the Kangee T-Hawk from CRKT. A tad on the pricey side, but an absolute mean little hatchet!

Cold steel trench hawk is badass. Had one but got stolen. The war hawk is also badass

The browning “shock n awe” is comparable in price but I recommend the CRKT KANGEE T-Hawk as an affordable yet beast of a hawk. Ryan Johnson purchased the company name American Tomahawk Company and they offer the original Vietnam tomahawk pattern with wood handle at a decent price.

The Kangee I’d definitely like to get my hands on. Super big fan of the design. Thanks for the info 👌

Pretty sure the tang end inside the metal collar. Definitely doesn't go all the way through the handle

From an aesthetic viewpoint i think the sog is miles ahead of the hogue.

It’s definitely got that classic Hawk look to it. Simple and effective 👌
