- Hi friends, in this video I will show you how we repaired our massively crumbling flagstone walkway. The mortar had separated from the stone and the walkway was in dire need of repair. We reused the stone and brought the walkway back to life! We did this 5 years ago, so follow along to see the process and all the issues we dealt with during and after the repair. Hope it helped. Yes it's super irritating dealing with contractors. That was nothing compared to the 15 sub contractors I dealt with building our pool house 😑

Good to know the contractor corrected any wrongs or miscommunication with homeowner. But, the acid wash isn't the reason the mortar joint is separating from stone. There's pockets of air between stone n concrete base in addition to the fact that mortaris a compression based material unlike concrete which can hold consistency by itself. I would have had the bushes cut back first because I'm a mason, not a landscaper. Most homeowners don't understand the scale of hard labor and what it does to a body. But in the same sense, we chose this profession so it is our decision. Make sure you thoroughly go over every possible detail beforehand and have it in writing to cover both the homeowner and contractor. They did a nice job regardless of the miscommunication during the process
Yes I was happy the mason fixed the issue. They thought the cracking was from the acid wash, sounded reasonable to me. Good point, get everything in writing to cover yourself. Thanks for your input.

I want to replace the mortar around the travertine on our outside patio but my husband insists on removing it all and relay in cement . This sounds plausible but he IS a contractor and has me as free help so guess who has to be out there too? Lol me

I’m so thankful for this video! We are grading up our yard and have to cover our concrete path to our front door. I was thinking flagstone would be a cheaper/easier option - but maybe not!
