He was the perfect casting choice. Between his looks and his physical abilities, he blends the childlike and scary perfectly. And that voice, it's chilling. I went into the theatre expecting to hate the film because nobody can replace Tim Curry, only to see a completely different take on Pennywise. There's no comparing the two, they took it in such different directions that it doesn't even feel like the same story anymore. Both are great performances and none of them impede the other.
Yes, and they were careful not to use the same lines from the novel that were in Curry’s performance, or to use them in different ways, like the metaphor of floating. But this adaption, like you said, was not like the television adaptation. For one thing, Pennywise’s own fear of the children, of their power, is something from the novel that doesn’t really appear in the TV movie, but it’s part of the kids’ victory over It in the film. Curry’s Pennywise certainly gets angry at Its loss of control, but It doesn’t really express true fear, desperate fear of the kids the way that It does in the novel and the cinematic incarnation of Pennywise.
Yeah it is pretty weird but it's also cool, after practicing for a while I was able to do the lip thing and now I'm getting better at doing the eye thing, it's kind of hard at first but I asked my friends if I can do it and they're like: OMG your eye! LOL
And I saw Pennywise for the first time when he was with Georgie I almost what is the way to put it I almost do the popcorn at the screen TV I was told my dad I don’t wanna watch this movie anymore but when I Seeing Him it wasn’t that scary
i can do both, but its not near how he does it. my lazy eye doesnt go as far to the side and my lip.. well thats not really pointy but it sticks out in the same way
Tim Curry's Pennywise was subtle for the most part, each line delivered with menacing evil. Bill Skarsgard's Pennywise is overtly frightening. With great talent and CGI effects each scene, each line is given with pure evil.
I'm just learning about Bill, but he's clearly a great choice. He's even turning his natural cockeyes into a creepy edge, and he found a fantastic voice for It.
I have watched it 5 times now and, first time it was just ok to me, but this last time I feel like it was better then Currys iT if you know what the IT really is!
Bill is a handsome man. It's really hard too see him in all of this crazy demon clown make-up. But then again he was simply made for this part no question about it. But i still have to admit i liked Tim Curry's version also. Two different actors that brought two different styles to such a frightening character. Can't wait for the sequel to hit the theaters...!!!
I know that the story is only a two part type story, having the characters as children and as adults, but I would donate money to see Bill play Pennywise for years and years and years. He is incredible and I want to see him in a ton of movies not just these two
I think the reason Pennywise has that eye deal is either he's so powerful he knows he's being watched or it's a flaw that he isn't a real human but tries to be.
Bill's Performance Was Outstanding And Remarkable! I Saw This Movie And When Pennywise Showed Up On Screen, I Knew That Bill S Was The Perfect Choice! His Clown Outfit And His Lip Movement Was Fantastic Also! He Did Really Amazing With The Kids. Let's Be Honest. 1990 It? No. It 2017? We All Float Down Here! YES!!!
I love how I’m seeing all these people realize who he is & I’m like, I’ve been in love with him since he played Roman the Vampire on “Hemlock Grove”. Then, I fell in love with him as Pennywise in the “It” movies (even though I’m terrified of clowns & he did frighten me). Then, I fell in love with him AGAIN in “Assassination Nation” & as The Kid on “Castle Rock”. How did you not know this guy is Alexander Skarsgård’s (aka Eric Northman from “True Blood”) younger brother? I’ve known this for years & I love both brothers. And their father, Stellan Skarsgård. I think most of the family is in show business. They’re all extremely talented.
It's so cool! I thought the eye thing was CGI! I have a lazy eye as well and can sometimes do it on bad days, as well as being able to switch vantage points with each eye. Its interesting to find out 'Pennywise' can do it too
What makes it weird bout that eye is idk if y’all seen the new trailer with the human lookin penny wise at the end but that lazy eye or whatever is on the left not the right🤔
They didn't mention that Skarsgard also took contortion classes so he could fit inside the mini fridge. He is 6'4".
Damn good skillz, then!😁
Nooo effing way!! Are you serious ?
XD
@@tanginamo12321 what the fuck

Wtf, his eyes trick wasn't CG ? :O
Thaibiohazard123 Nope, he did that on his own.
No, it was real.
I can move my eyes like that
WEIRD RIGHT?! I was 100% certain that it just HAD to be CG... But it just makes it all the more awesome now, knowing that it's not.
Nope hardly anything was cgi only when It shapeshifted is when they did cgi

Those were exactly my thought when i saw it.I think he looks great!!!!!And i am looking forward to the second part!!!
Scooby doo
morphman86 OMG TIM CURRY SUCK WHY DOES EVERYONE LIKE HIM!? JUST BECAUSE ITS “ORIGINAL”?
elecTRICKbox I thought tim curry did a great job. Just made in a time where technology wasn’t very good
Also it's weird how he does that with his lips & eyes
Malica That thing he does with his lips isn’t actually that hard. I can do it, but it took some practice. The eye thing however, that’s a bit harder.
It's like at times he forgets to act human and the thing he is starts to slip out
Naturally, Bill Skarsgard has a lazy left eye
Malica i can do that to
Yeah it is pretty weird but it's also cool, after practicing for a while I was able to do the lip thing and now I'm getting better at doing the eye thing, it's kind of hard at first but I asked my friends if I can do it and they're like: OMG your eye! LOL

michaeldickford I thought he was cute before I saw the actor
I never knew
He looks exactly the opposite of his character (Pennywise) who was very ugly tho

Bill Skarsgård's commitment and talent in this film is admirable. Hope to see more of him in the future.
Yamin Thein have you seen him in Hemlock Grove? Its on Netflix. 3 seasons.
I wish he was nominated and won the academy award for best actor or supporting actor, at least.

I can cross one eye with the other looking forward, but idk if that counts as a lazy eye.
That lazy eye is what makes him look extremely creepy
𝙉𝙊𝘿_𝙈𝘼𝙆𝙊 I think you mean that lazy eye is one of the MANY things that make him extremely creepy 😊
Pennywise's eyes is one of my favorite parts about the character. Lol It's so unsettling and I love that Bill is able to do it himself!

I think it’s ironic that he’s playing the most unnerving terrifying character, but he’s actually a really charming, handsome, friendly guy.

I love Tim Curry but Bill Skarsgard is a better and scarier Pennywise than him
Milhouse plus Bill is really hot
I agree the original penneywise was good and all but dam the new one was way more frightening Bill Skarsgard rocks as this character.
I agree. Both are great actors, but Bill makes a better Pennywise.
I was 16 years old when I saw the TV mini series. I slept with my lights on for a week. That one was scary.
I was 8 when I saw both this and 1990 pennywise I thought it was funny
Bill Skarsgard please please please become the Joker
River Minecraft he was rumoured to play the Joker
Penny and joker
My two fav villains
Bill Skarsgård

But Jared Leto did a good job too...Just saying.
Slim Shady he did the worst job what are you on about
That would be coolll

When I first saw him
I thought "he can't be the clown"
He is too attractive 😍

ah, Bill Skarsgard is so beautiful❤
he’s such a talented actor.
Damn he's handsome 😍😂😂
How can someone be so handsome?😂😍
Even though he did crazy expressions in the movie, his role as pennywise will be remembered in the history of horror films.
Skärsgard nailed the role!
Wow Pennywise plays really good Bill Skarsgard.
Wow this guy is such a good actor. He has so much control of his body. The character was made for him.
The one and only, the real Pennywise! Goooooooood job guys! (Y)

Why did they have to put so much cgi over this mans wonderful performance. The parts without it are way creepier.
Papa Ducknips they didn’t use that much cgi with him. Most was just him.
He's such an insane talent. Truly the perfect casting for the character.
Bill is so handsome, its true 😍😍😍
Truly handsome face behind a monster

I always wondered if that crazy eye effect was special effects or real but I never would've thought he actually does it himself.
