Hi, Doug. The "barrell-shaped stone you held at 14:03 is a Crinoid. I collected a number of those when I was in Art classes in college because I planned to make a necklace using those and other beads of fired clay and small incised wooden balls. I still have my tackle box that we kept our jewelry supplies and tools in. The beads and Crinoids are still there. I was pretty sure I couldn't drill the Crinoids, so planned to use super glue to affix small links to them. That was a long time ago and I still would love to make that necklace, but probably won't. It's so nice to see you and your wife hiking and collecting together. Your dogs seem so happy to wade in the pool and climb slippery clay "mountains". Thank you for this video. It's the first one of it's type I've seen and I've watched hundreds of them. I first saw you in a video with Joe Robinet camping and acting goofy. I'm also subscribed to Joe's (& Scout's) channel. I saw you again yesterday, when you, Shawn and the other guys were starting Shawn James' Native American Long House build. I was so impressed with your skills that I found your channel and am now subscribed (and the bell is "rung") to it as well. You Woodsmen have me hooked and I'm enjoying it. Thanks for this video. It's a beautiful setting. Your wife is delightful and it's fun to see her finding "collectibles" along the stream-bed. Take care. :0) Donna B.
Another day of adult hooky from daily life chores (albeit 3 years earlier than the one I watched this morning). Li'l Joe might fit in that hollow in the base of that tree, if he scrunched up a bit! Nice to see you and Sophie enjoying each others' company and a fossil hunt. Thanks for taking us along! Loved you teasing Finn and Gill in the truck on the way. Stay safe.
Finally subscribed to your channel. We watch Joe Robinet and finally started watching you and glad we did. Love all the nature and wood carvings. I love doing crafts also with rocks an driftwood. My husband and I love nature. Love seeing you and Sophie together. Would love to see you two go on a camping trip together. Love your dog and your kids what I have see are brought up right. Keep up the great videos. Nancy and David HarrellSorrento, Fl
Doug what a great video...I do think joe would fit in that lil shelter at that tree u and sophie stopped at..lol.I wonder how many people caught that..
Pretty cool place! There was a state park an hour away from my hometown in Ohio that my family would camp at and I'd go down and collect fossils. You brought back some good memories. Thanks for bringing us along!
What a stroke of luck that a man, his wife and his dogs can enjoy such a lost cost, high reward day out; The missus, my two dogs and myself do trips like that every other weekend here in Sweden and I feel very fortunate to live somewhere were this kind of activity is easily manageable and safe. Nice to see your version of the activity mate.
If you can slow the brain down for a while and get out like this, there's a whole lot to see. Good job Doug catching sight of the little things. Looks like you guys had a great day.
It reminds me of before my back problem with our two dogs a black Lab and a Wire Viszla walking along the steams both dogs filthy I can't wait till my op and can do it again. Love your video's.
At 09:50, not the witch's house but it could be an overhang to a Sasquatch shelter or home. I see so many indications starting with the bee hive. Are you sure the branch fell? As we all know there's another world under our hills and mountains.
I loved this, Doug. It was nice to meet Sophie, and to see all of the fossils. (No, not Sophie, she's not a fossil) Very cool wanderings. Merry Ann from Minnesota
Cool place! Melinda would love it.Found a bunch of fossils of fish in clay just like that when we were kids on the Skokomish river.Turned into a major discovery. All gone now.google Skokomish fossils. Used to run with a black lab.Me and a buddy were trying to get off the Sol Duc river up a muddy clay bank.We were losing comically .My dog kept going up and down like it was a game.Bill looked over at me and said"I want same shoes made out of what dog feet are made of"I still giggle in the mud. I have a Koi pond with a bog filter.just a stock tank buried, full of pea gravel that filters the pond water. It is full of memorabilia from past trips.Every trip we bring back something,at least she does. I love your vids,Thanks for taking the time!
So cool. My dad use to take me there all the time as a kid. I have taken my daughter there in a backpack when she was a little baby. Looks like we have hiked a lot of the same trails. I used to make stuff out of the clay as well. So cool. Takes me way back. Thanks for the video.
I been subscribed to your channel for a couplefew. I found your carving and coffee very interesting. I'm totally off grid so this is TV. Awesome videos, keep up the great work! Regards
thank you for sharing this video looks like a wonderful place to go to (my brother in law was a paleontologist and would take us to places here in NY just like that )
OK the comment about a pack loaded like your never going home was awesome, my wife went to boundary waters last time and reminded me of that, she didn't think it quite as funny as my boys and myself though.
Just an observation, you and Joe seem to favor your dogs more than your wives being highlighted on your vids. 08:36 Pan from your wife talking about the adventure bowl to the dogs. She only needed a few seconds more to finish her short statement. Life is short, enjoy your time with her Doug. We are beneficial in a special way that a dog can't be. ❤
Just watched your videos. I am really enjoying them. Quick question on the zebra pots, is that the 12cm pot for coffee? I have one and the larger ones, the question is I see the metal clips on them and am wondering if you made or purchased them? I would like a set for my 12. Any help would be appreciated.
Been a sub for a while now going back through all your videos love them all. This is one of my favourite day hikes as well. Not a very well known place at all. Just ventured back there this last week end in white out conditions. Are you from around this area aswell?
Nice video, you need to do more hiking with Ms. Sophie she is a lot more prettier than Joe, that looked like a fun day, keep up the good work and like always Remember JESUS LOVES YOU.
Great video!...geez if id' been at that fossil site...you'd have to drag me away or tell me bears come to the creek at night to hunt fossils. lol. You two are great together..love the dogs too.
Moss covered anything is beautiful! Thank you for bringing us along. I can imagine all the forest creatures that must reside here
I'm a huge rock hound..we as a family are all rock hounds!! Would love to see this place!! Cool video Dougie!
