I love the commenters on here. We have post apocalyptic bands of bad guys roaming around with welders and metal detectors hoping that someone, some where, in some field has a buried Doomsday Bunker. That is going to be the first thing I do after the shit hits the fan...I'm going to take all of my resources and walk around the plains and fields of the USA searching for signs of underground dwellers.

There's lots of ways to cut stainless but a torch isn't one of them! If a torch is all you have, you can lay a welding rod or a thin piece of steel over the stainless and when the flame penetrates the steel it will also cut the stainless underneath!

this is a great airraid or storm bunker, would not use it for a "doomsday" looks far to easy to break and not much long term use beyond what supplies you have ready.
If somebody healthy and fit can trek across the US countryside to attack your bunker, then it aint much of an apocalypse and perhaps the occupants should consider coming outside. I'd be more worried about the power supply. Military bunkers use power supplies fuelled by radioactive decay, that isn't available to the public.

If you have a shelter/bunker, the number one rule of security is ALWAYS hiding the bunker and don't show it around. Because given an unlimited amount of time like after a catastrophe, anybody can break open your locks, even with simple tools.

Being fortunate to live in a large house but being in semi-lock down, the amount of cabin fever I have is unbelievably high. I can't imagine what living in a bunker with seven other people would be like.
a battery operated angle grinder would cut through that 1/4" plate in a few minutes -best to hide the access and change to 2" plate if you want to keep anyone out.
The video mentioned a separate generator pod for the featured shelter, and attached accessible generator pod in newer models. Presumably fuel is stored in the generator pod and/or secret caches. Drinking water can be stored under the floor, but for shower/laundry/toilet I assume you'd need a nearby connected water tank and septic tank.
It turns out that you don't even need a large kitchen counter. All you need is the fridge, a small sink and the burner and you can have the couch and kitchen all in one room.

Really locks are just to keep honest people honest as all locks given enough time can be defeated but in this case it would deter most people. Shroomsday Preppers was the biggest insult to preppers out there. I had a long conversation with Brooklyn the producer, near the end of Season 1. The whole idea of the show was to make fun of real preppers. My bugout was so complete that she could not use me. She did, however, take all the info I gave her and include it in the crawler. Remember how they magically appeared at the end of the first season? The info on toilet paper was from me, along with painting my 100 oz. bar of silver black and using it for a door stop. There was more, but those are the only two that I remember directly.

The same for food storage, water and even air renewing, filtered and maybe conditioned for different seasons if the plan is get protection in the shelter for at least one year.

Mix urine with water and use on dwarf fruit tree (in his case, they are using WISE dehydrated food which just required boiling water) 3) convert master bedroom into garden to grow basic high yield veggies (tomatoes, potatoes, lettuce, beans) 4) amass weapons for possible food and supply runs 5) find a few trustworthy people with skills because there's power in numbers and become Rick Grimes

While yes you can not torch cut stainless you can still heat and blow it apart with a torch it just takes a bit longer.
ElectroGaming I cut stainless steel with a hand grinder or a plasma cutter. I used to build food grade vats.
