I deep hooked my hand once trying to get that little plug out of the jerkster. It was fresh out the packet too so i hadn't squashed the barbs on the hook yet.
cool my currant favourite is the hybrid eel very similar to the pike and i have a collection of savage gear Frucks from the summer hung on a shelf one because they are knackered and two because i dont wanna bin em lol
Got some of those patterns, and enjoy fishing them, but my top effective bait is a spoon-I get cheapie ones from Decathlon as there are snags everywhere where I fish, so losing a spoon no big deal (but I use 80lb braid so normally pull them out anyway) , I probably get results with the spoons as they are the first bait I fish with to "search" the swim for snags and find the depth before risking an expensive bait. Best hard bait to date for me is a Rapala, PB was on Strike Pro Buster, but most fish caught on spoons as said. Best bait is the one you have confidence in, second is one you enjoy fishing.
I have 12 fox micro lures from that range and 2 of them are jointing rooters one I have used and it got smashed to bits, I plan on making them and replicating the perfect one I have left from the orginals.
Try some old musky stickbaits they work well for me,big plastic inline buzzbaits that can be fished slow work well to my very old rattling rouge still catches them.
Hey! Thanks for the great content!! Keep up the good work. 😁 Could you please explain the differences between the SG Freestyler original and v2? Appreciate it!
so for me the original felt more robust, sank slightly faster and was more resistant to rising up in the water on the retrieve. The V2 just didn't seem to stay down, I could only fish it effectively very high in the water column
get a medium/heavy rod..ideally a baitcaster reel..especially if you need to be accurate on where your throwing your lure....i use a bait caster that has a max line rating of 10-25lbs and i put 50lbs braid on it...i can pull a 72cm pike out of the water with no issues a very little rod bend, while still being able to use it for trout, perch, walleye pretty much most freshwater fish with the exception of big catfish and big sturgeon...its just a really versatile setup for freshwater
Another great video guys😎😉👍🎣🎣 loved the look of some of then lure and jerk baits. And I must say you guys look happy and well keep them vids coming 🎣🎣🎣😎😉👍
gotta say, ive never caught on the trout but i bought a bunch of them, never had an issue with the rigging untill a few days ago when i went to put one in my box for a day out, gave the rig a good pull and the rear hook pulled out the crimp :(
I forgot to ask if you have tried solid wire traces for some of the jerkbaits. I have and I think it makes a difference to the action. I made mine from 0.8 stainless steel TIG welding wire as I'm a welder, but if you can't get hold of any, one of the lads over here uses piano wire.
yup, big fan of the AFW single strand titanium. Takes some crimping but get it right and it lasts forever, and. as you say, gives a better action to the jerkbaits
@@IBandAndyFishing Yep I like the Ti wire- I have some ready mades, but thought they were a bit short, so made my own from Ti wire. But the Ti wire is about 0.5/0.6, the wire I mean is 0.8 and rigid, see this Gents video ua-cam.com/video/SiSQR3y27Xs/v-deo.html, and here ua-cam.com/video/zwBhPrl7oQc/v-deo.html When the jerkbaits first came out, iirc, the Fox man was a gent called Dave Kubrick (I think) and initially, I saw no mention of solid wire leaders, you were told you needed a specific rod of course. Anyway, I did not invest as I had baitcasting kit and was losing Rapalas which was pricey enough without the price of jerkbaits. I returned, after seeing vids by Riverpiker and seeing weedless rigs-upgraded to 80lb grade braid, so now enjoy fishing the jerk and glide baits.Andy mentioned his 10 year old bait, what about a video with Andy fishing old baits like the Flying C, kidney spoon, and if possible some old style jointed wooden plugs. On lake/pit as well as river, as spinners/spoons were really for rivers. Incidentally, I have a couple of micro Devons-you can still get them.Ieva fishing the latest patterns of course.
I think we might have our wires crossed here Jaques, the stuff I'm on about is rock solid, I've not used piano wire but I imagine it to be the same sort of material. I'll dig out my dad's old lure box, that could be a fun vlog!

great vid, pretty new to big pike lures so youve given me a few ideas, where do you get the trailer hooks for the spinner baits? i cant find any without buying them from the US for crazy prices. not that iv caught on them lol, usually just get tiny wasps following them haha
Hey up! The spinner bait showed in here, ‘Da Bush comes with the trailer hook! We haven’t added anything on there ourselves. I do love fishing with bigger lures, especially in spring time, but they’re a bit too heavy for my healing arm at the moment 🤔 I.B. Xx
Yet another top vid I personally love the big shakespeare lures I literally laugh every time I clip one on my trace with them bloody eye's wobbling at me 😂😂😂
Thanks for your nice videos . Try a SPRO GIANT FLAPPER or a BALZER PIKE COLLECTOR ( whitefishblue ) .. . i am shure you will change your lure ranking !
Hello Ieva andere Andy, my most popular lure is whitout any question the rapper from Spro, the albino ghost color, close followed by the baby triple devil in the same color also from Spro. Iff you can get hold off them don't let them pass. Real pike Killers in muddy waters.
we were actually talking about that the other day. I think we'll have to break it down in to months though, as the hatches of insects can be so seasonal
@@IBandAndyFishing any time. Me and my partner love lure fishing together. Today she was walking pur pups while I had the honour of a few casts. I caught two PB canal perch. Possibly 1.5lb. But cant be 100% due to no scales. Did measure them though and they were 31ck and 33cm.
I watch lot of fishing video (pf course. who doesn't?!?) but I really enjoy theses. Total coincidence I have a Savage Gear Burbot inbound, I don't even have deep water where I fish. Will have to be a trip somewhere just to fish it because it is, as you say. just super cool. Thanks for Sharing :-)
They’re super cool, if you look on my Instagram or FB, I’ve made a video a few summers ago of a burbot just sitting on my hand and how much the little ‘WINGS’ aka fins and the tail was moving just from the slightest wind. Really cool lure😎 I.B. X

Great video. Just subbed love that you put links to all the tackle you use.
Very informative for me just starting out lure fishing.
thanks Kev, really kind! We'll keep posting the links, and we'll find the kit at the lowest price possible!

What rod and reel combo would you recommend for starting lure fishing ?....Thanks 👍
that would all depend on whether you're chasing pike or perch buddy, as the kit can be quite different
