I work for Gene Gunnels, in Las Vegas. It was my first job after I moved here, and I continue today, even having a full time job. Its a labor of love, working over a deep fryer. And Gene earned my loyalty years ago.
You didn't mention the under performing 1968 single release of Sit With The Guru. It's a beautiful song with lots of major 7ths and minor 7ths. True musicianship. It was a real mirror of the times.
I met George and Randy in the Summer of 1975. George was living North of San Diego and he and Randy and others were in the midst of writing a double album based on the Barnum and Bailey Circus. My roommate was playing woodwinds for them and invited me to go with him a number of times. George was a really nice guy with tons of stories about the early days and Ed King. I don’t think the album went anywhere but it was good. Saw and talked to George at an “oldies” concert in the mid ‘80’s. He told me my old roommate (Richard) had become an emergency doctor in Los Angeles.
I was a member of Thunder Chicken in Salt Lake City with Jimmy Pittman. In actuality, our band was briefly called this, but most of our music through the few years we were "WaterBrother".
Randy was living in the Baja for a while. I saw him perform a version of Incense and Peppermints with local pick up musicians there. They nailed it. It was at the Lighthouse Bar on the beach, south of Rosarito, Mexico. prob 2015
It's a great song- epitomizes the psychedelic period beautifully. The lyrics are timeless- beatniks and politics, nothin is new, a yardstick for lunatics, one point of view....
Santa Fe Casino before station casinos bought it is where i saw Strawberry Alarm Clock 3 x small room intimate 200 people or so. Early 1990s. Was fabulous shows there
NOW HEAR THIS...... THERE ARE ABOUT 4 SONGS THAT WERE GOOD OR MAYBE 5 OR 6 BUT HERE ARE 4 ...SEA SHELL.. INCENSE AND PEPPERMINTS.. SITTING WITH THE GURU .... AND PRETTY SONG FROM PSYCH OUT MOVIE.....MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT NOT A GREAT GROUP .. BUT THEY WERE PRETTY GOOD....
I guess you don't know anything about the Alarm Clock. Steve Bartek co-wrote songs for the SAC album but was to young to play with the band. He went on to play guitar for Oingo Boingo and has scored over 50 Danny Elfman films. He still performs with SAC.
Was just listening to 'Mrs. Bluebird' last week! I still have their 2nd album, which has gone up in value and wish I had their 1st album which is now VERY expensive! I know the band was popular around the Gulf Coast, especially New Orleans.
I recorded a CD in Santa Barbara Calif that was produced by Cory and Ernie Orosco who were affiliated with Strawberry Alarm Clock. (the giant crab) nay sayers do the research.
Did one of the guys from Strawberry Alarm Clock own a studio in the valley in the early 90s? I want to say I recorded some tracks there and would love to fill in the blanks!

It’s an interesting song for its time.

Great story.

They played at my eighth grade school graduation party.
Ed King wrote the music for Incense but the writers of the lyrics took all the credit.
Fuzz guitar + Farfisa = Psychedelic

Ed King also sadly passed away recently.
Great ! I just loved the I&P single and Skynyrd.
Saw them recently at the Whisky, great group, great crowd, nice to hear Steve Bartek with them......George B is a great guy...........
Cool!

Oceanside (Calif.) High School gymnasium 1967. My first live music experience.

5:59 Ronnie looking at Ed thinking: I can't believe I allowed this pushy MFer to join my band 😆
Best move you ever made Ron
FYI the picture you used at 5:49 is in fact The Seeds
Randy's dog rascal bit me lol
Incense and Peppermint was definitely the epitome of the 60s psychedelic era
Interesting to see Ed King pre Leonard Skynard, very cool!!!
Indeed!
Incense Peppermints will never get old
Also appeared in the movie: Beyond the Valley of the Dolls!
Wild movie, but a classic! And yes, to see SAC made it all the more better!
Apparently one of these guys formed Lynyrd Skynyrd! Obviously the music of SAC was too complex.
Didn't one of them actually join Lynard Skynard after the band broke up?
Ed King was in Lynyrd Skynyrd from 1972 to 1975 and from 1987 to 1996.
You are correct. It was Ed King, he was on the cover of Lynard Skynard's first album cover "Pronounced Lyn-ard Sky-na-rd".

Ultimately... Ed King is the only relevant musician from Strawberry Alarm Clock... and he's dead.

That's the question everyone is asking . lol
Why is there a photo of the Seeds in here? I'm confused,
My God boy, enunciate!
Ed King genius with Ronnie
He wrote the hook for 1 song. Hardly Lennon and McCartney. 🤡
Hi this may be a tall order and not many people are going to care but can you PLEASE do one of these on the band Eternity's Children. Thank you!!!
Was just listening to 'Mrs. Bluebird' last week! I still have their 2nd album, which has gone up in value and wish I had their 1st album which is now VERY expensive! I know the band was popular around the Gulf Coast, especially New Orleans.
Somebody forgot to wind them up.

I decided to check out strawberry alarm clock recently. It’s just my opinion, but Ed’s best work came with Skynyrd.
Pebbermints...
I always thought bands with a drummer/lead singer was cool. Incense and peppermint and acid.
This might have been interesting if you didn't sound like a hostage with a gun to his head forced to read the longest run on sentence in the world.
After the 1473rd name I gave up.
Uni is pronounced "YOU-KNEE"
they still around loli have seen them couple of times in recent years
why in hell would you show a pic of a Walton's boy playing acoustic? lmao...
Did one of the guys from Strawberry Alarm Clock own a studio in the valley in the early 90s? I want to say I recorded some tracks there and would love to fill in the blanks!
That's a hell of a lot of research for a one hit wonder band. I did not realize Ed King was one of them.
They actually are not a one hit wonder because they had multiple hits and also their first 3 albums are psychedelic masterpieces
That might be the most incomprehensible thing I’ve ever heard.
Strawberry Alarm Clock was pure musical psychedelia. But being dismissed as a one hit wonder has become far reaching.
They were all in high school and their parents wouldn't let them tour because they would have had to drop out of school
say it right all the time
Ui in
Hopefully, they broke. There were so many great bands but this wasone
Incense and PePPermints - those P's aren't silent, right? Or maybe I've been pronouncing it wrong??
Ed King? 😮 He was an original Skynyrd.
No he wasn't he was not on pronounced he came in on second helping
They had one song and vanished.
One Hit Wonder.
Ed King went on to join Lynyrd Skynyrd.
What happened to them?.....iI think youre the only one who cares
They were an excellent band, deserved more credit...
Why is it so many narrators struggle to pronounce all but the simplest words ?
He should get a different job.
too many names

... asked no one ever.
Nobody cares
Six seconds in and I'm out. Absolutely the most annoying voice and speech impediment courtesy of the 'narrator'.
