Hi Thuydao, thank you for sharing your experience! 😊 With just a small 3 square meter balcony, gardening for me is all about connecting with nature. I grow a range of vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers, but tomatoes and salads are my real winners - I hardly bought any from the store this year! I've been fortunate enough not to have had any major problems with pests or diseases, even with my kale. I don't have a greenhouse, but I rigged up a covered shelf to protect some plants during the colder months here in northern Italy. Wishing you and your family a peaceful year and a wonderful harvest.

You really have mastered the balance of beauty and function in your spaces 💐🥦🫐 I finally had the space for a bigger garden last year and I think I took on too much at once. The plants suffered and many of them died or didn't even germinate because I didn't take the time to plan and think about the foundational aspects like tree shade, wind, and too much midday heat 😔 but this year, I know a little more and will try again! 💖
I had been still gardening up until last Friday. I was using cold frames and deep mulch. A winter storm came through and I lost most of the cabbage and cauliflower I had left. But my garlic and onions will still be ready early this spring. My yard is very small so I do a lot of vertical growing. My neighbor gave me 2 old ladders she had and I made them into movable shelves! (Caster wheels) So this spring I'm going to plant watermelons on one; cantaloupe the other. Lifting the fruit to each shelf. I've done this before(just not where I live now) so I'm hoping it will work. I needed to have them mobile to keep them in sun or shade depending on what they need to thrive.

Aber schon lange vermisse ich auch etwas in deinem Garten, was ich selbst sehr wichtig finde: in jeden Garten gehört ein Teich 😊 klein oder groß ist egal. Aber für viele Tiere ist es gerade in den warmen Sommern wichtig. An unserem kleinen Teich hatten sich sehr schnell Kröten angesiedelt, es trinken viele Vögel und Insekten am Wasser und auch die Katzen der Umgebung freuen sich. Vielleicht ein neues Projekt? 😅

Hi Thuy. I love your beautiful garden. I could sit beside it all day long🤗 I am planning to make my garden a little bigger this year. I like to grow lots of things for preservation for the winter because I am almost an hour from a decent grocery store, and the quality is just so much better from the garden. Right now it’s snowing like crazy outside so gardening seems a long way off. I will order my seeds soon and decide what I want to grow. Thanks for the beautiful video ❤❤
@ I’m thinking lots of tomatoes, for sauces and diced tomatoes and some sun dried as well as salsa. I will grow lots of different squash and a lot of green beans, lots of garlic and onions. I want to plant more flowers and some raspberries. Cabbage and different peppers and loads of herbs. Hopefully I will get some fruit from the fruit trees and honey from my hives. I will build some more raised beds. I’m so excited lol.

what a well-made video with some great tips! i always enjoy how you break things down. however, i gotta say, i think over-fertilizing might be a common mistake. in my experience, less can be more when it comes to nutrients. it’d be interesting to see how others feel about that!

How do you calculate the number of crops that your family needs? How many seeds are you sowing to have enough tomatoes, bellpeppers, etc? I would love a video about cat-friendly plants, if you were interested to look into this... I have only got a very small balcony garden, and in the summer my cats are on the balcony with me. They nibble and eat on everything and sometimes I find it so hard to opt for flowers or plants in general that aren't poisenous to them...
