Does the engine need to be a TDC when you re install distributor, or do you just mark the distributor and make sure it’s pointing to number #4 when you re install it?
@@ELDESTBuilds ok I know I should know this, tdc #4 you are referencing the cams with the wholes in the pulleys pointing at the pointer. So with the T belt on, all I need to worry about is the exhaust cam TDC , correct.?
Kinda, sorta, both cams holes at the pointers and the zero mark on the crank and heave the timing belt on. Oh and the aux shaft pointing about 1 o'clock. Spin it over by hand a time or two looking for the slack spot in the belt and set the tensioner in place. Then spin it back by hand till all the marks line up and stab the distributor, aligned to #4 post inside the cap. Sounds complicated but you can do it. Now the confusing part. #1 and #4 are 180° degrees out. So when it comes to the timing light they are the same for ignition timimg purposes but that comes after everything is hooked back up.
Is there any video showing how to Convert your points in to the electronic ignition? How to wire it up? Control Module heat sink? Just looking for instructions on that? Thanks.
This one had the electronic ignition installed. There are several upgrade kits available. This one is pretty painless. www.vickauto.com/FIAT-PARTS/FIAT-124/2000-and-131/Brava-Parts/Performance/Electronic-Ignition-Conversion-Fiat-124-and-X1/9-SKU-22-1324
I got a 78 spider, rebuilt motor, cranks but not sure if I'm getting power to the old l Distributor and ignitoon coil!? Do you recommend I replace with an newer Electronic version!? Also not getting power to the fuses
See here ua-cam.com/video/E-NfloR0oU0/v-deo.html And here ua-cam.com/video/OzrX_boBsjo/v-deo.html If it has points in it, clean the contacts well with an emory boad nail file thing
I have a dumb question. Where to connect vacuum lines from distributor and where to connect vacuum lines from carburator? I have 2.0 DOHC from 79 with antipolution sys. Removed and weber 34 adf.
I have issues with ignition regulation. Around 2000rpm the power is lost, engine choak. Distributor is 100% rebuild and so is the carb. I can't find the problem
There should be a switch activated 12 volt lead hanging around in there somewhere. On this one it's a green wire with a white clip. See here ua-cam.com/video/3AntfNVgQtw/v-deo.html
@@ELDESTBuilds mine is a 72, the only green wire I see leads to the distributor but I do see a wire that isn’t connected to anything it is tow white with a black strip and a turquoise with a white striped all leading to a white clip with nothing in it
On a high performance rebuild ALWAYS get rid if the Vacuum Advance on the Distributor!!!!! If you rev past 7000 rpm and lift off quickly to change gear you can send the Piston the WRONG way!! You have been warned?? Happened at 8000 rpm on a Lotus with a Motorcraft Ford Distributor??
@Michael Amster, It's a Spongebob quote. You see in Bikini Bottom, Tarter Sauce is the worst thing they can say on TV. When my youngest would get mad, she would say "tarter sauce". As I am proficient in the use of the foul, four letter, references in all such things whether necessary or not, she would say, if your that mad just say tarter sauce. So I did.

TDC marked for #4. Then install distributor

Question: Where did you get the new distributor? I can't seem to find one.
The distributor is original just cleaned and turned up. Look a Vickauto.com plenty of distributors available.
This type pf header is for making horsepower and the peak is at the top end past 8000 rpm
But it always looks good when you open the hood and it always sounds better when you drive it.

Should be a port on the carb near the air mixture screw usually below. Any other ports can be plugged.
@@ELDESTBuilds ok so distributor directly to the carb. Another question. There should be also a delay valve on the pipe, right?

tdc goes #4??
Yes, line up the distributor to point at #4
@@ELDESTBuilds ok ,thank you
I enjoyed the video and noticed you have a nice shiny radiator... where did u get it as my 77 did not come with one
Vickauto.com Texas heat radiator
Where does the gold vacuum like lead to?
Vacuum advance, hooks up to manifold vacuum at the base of the carb
@@ELDESTBuilds awesome, thank you! Another question, where do I hook up my electric choke too?

As long as it has 12 volts when running, your ok

Thanks, this is not a high performance motor. The owner regularly shifts at 3500 rpm.
