  • A nice looking DIY sand battery based heater. Ideal for power outtage situations or simply as an extra heat source for small rooms.
This heater design is safer than others, with the candles being covered and housed within the raised edging of the pot.
The design is from desertsun02, here's the original video:
    • Flowerpot Air Heater! ...
This one was built from parts around the house.
The pot was from a Summer garden plant, reused itself from a heater design from last Winter.
The sand was from our back yard.
The copper strips are from general leftover pieces from electrical experiments. Other metals can be used, gutter flashing, construction/house repair leftovers, the steel from drinks cans.

Well it did warm up, so that is positive 👍👍

It works pretty well, for small spaces it's a noticeable warmth. I can see it being useful in a greenhouse when there's a chance of frost, that sort of thing 😀
Btw, you get a mention in the next vid... a New Year LED display powered by 1 drop of water!

Good idea, should help keep the chill off a bit definitely better than nothing. I have seen someone using resistive heating basically dumping excess charge from wind generator into kettle element. 👍

It's a decent extra, likely useful in power outtages.
Yes, have seen the kettle element idea into a sand battery, but using solar rather than wind. If I could work out how to heat the sandstone foundation of this house then we'd have something great lol
