In Jayce defense, he only build a rifle for Cait and a gauntlet for VI, it's not the same thing that build weapons for an army. He build weapons for people he trust.
I love when people actually take their time and try to understand Caitlyn. I feel like a lot of the fandom gloss over her character and what she went through, with being kidnapped and held by jinx for over a day to then your mother dying in such a short time frame, that's a lot of trauma.
@@King_Ghost777 Im writing this if you still have a changed opinion of her :) Her and Vi have been broken up for 6 months at that point. that's pretty obviously a rebound the way shes not even in her own bedroom but in a guest bedroom lol. It's unhealthy coping mechanism she has for sure. You can see the coldness in her when they talk there isn't that vulnerability and love she has with Vi. Caitlyn is suppressing all her emotions, because the only person that she lets see her vulnerable is Vi, that's her safe place. The guilt she has for what she did to Vi and what ambessa is doing is eating away at her if you look at her facial expressions and dialogue she has with ambessa in ep 4 and 5. The way she's questioning what ambessa is doing because she doesn't fully know, she only hears from the enforcers. Ambessa isn't telling Caitlyn about everything she's doing with rictus and her army because Ambessa knows if she did Caitlyn would 100% try to intervene. The guilt she has for what she did to Vi makes her literally betray one of the scariest warlords and her entire army just because she wants to at least have a chance to be with The girl she loves again. Then she lets Vi free her kidnapper that tortured her and then killed her mom, all because she wants Vi to be happy. Cait knows when she removes the guards and sends them to the hexgates, Vi will go down to rescue Jinx in the cell, Caitlyn also knows they could both be gone, But since jinx has seen the good side of Caitlyn when she betrays ambessa to save vander, she leaves Vi and tells her to be happy and not to worry about her anymore. Caitlyn knows Vi will always choose her sister and she's made peace with that. She wants what Vi wants. Caitlyn knows her crimes and the mistakes she has done will never be undone by the good deeds she will do in the future. She says this to jinx as well. But that doesn't stop her from trying. She removes herself from the council and puts sevika in her seat instead, a massive step forward in a process that will take a long time. My view of Caitlyn never changed because Caitlyn never actually changed by the end. She made costly mistakes in the wake of her terrible grief and anger. Letting go of jinx, betraying ambessa and choosing to risk her life to save Vi directly shows her moral dichotomy of act 2 is over and she's back to the Caitlyn we knew in season 1. It's okay if you were questioning Caitlyn during s2, that's what the goal of her arc was :)
@@gabbeboiii5083 I understand all that and picked up most of it but I still can't get over it. She not only gets with someone else but a mutual friend. And at this point this seems like something that has been going on. Emotional coldness is no excuse. But that's just my opinion, I respect yours but I don't think I can change mine. It really is a perspective thing.
So fun fact like piltover the undercity has their own advanced “technology” but it’s not hextech they call it chemtech. They use chemicals to make themselves stronger. A big example would be shimmer. That green stuff the female chem baron has in her IVs is a form of chemtech too. So the undercity uses chemtech and piltover uses hextech.
The Kieramanns are the archivists of Piltover. The Kieramann Key is held by the family's matriarch, and it gives access to every blueprint, every schematic, and every design patent in the city's history.
Cait: I won't run off on another solo mission Vi: I won't put on that uniform Jayce: I won't build another weapon Mel: I won't allow the enforcers to use Hextech Then the memorial attack happens, and all four of them cross the line in the sand they drew just this same episode
Agreed, to me it's the single most perfect soundtrack to any piece of media, every song just fits perfectly in the scenes it's played in, and it really brings the whole experience to another level.
If you are able to pause on the impact frame when Jayce is merging Viktor with the Hexcore you can see that Viktor's spine was broken from the attack. Which Jayce probably felt as he carried him back to the lab. Which probably makes his survivor's guilt even worse. And Jayce, again, makes more weaponry from Hextech, which he KNOWS Viktor wouldn't want him to do. Cait and Vi have one of the most interesting relationships in the show. There is so much conflict there, but also knowing what the other is going through in a way. Idk if you noticed, but one of the reactions Vi has to Caitlyn hugging her in this episode, is while she does catch her, her fists are closed, not something you'd expect for someone hugging another person who is grieving. Because it's still a bit of a reaction to someone in an Enforcer uniform coming at her. Even when comforting Caitlyn, Vi's own trauma is STILL shown.
I noticed the fists, but never really thought why she did that. Interesting perspective. I think it could also be her being super tense given what Jinx just did, and knowing Caitlyn will likely be even more fanatical in her pursuit of her sister. I feel like she is bracing for impact, so to speak.
The people attacking during the memorial are the Sludgerunners, a Gang in Zaun/Undercity led by Reni, a Chembaron (formally) under Silco. The suits are Turbo Chem Tanks. we saw them attack Jayce and Vi in Ep. 8 season 1 with all the child workers. Jayce accidently killed Reni's son with the Mercury Hammer. hope this helps
@themoonlit-wolf3773 The Mercury Hammer. The Atlas Gauntlets. And then there's... the Hexclaw. Jayce definitely has more of a flair for naming their inventions than Viktor does.
Caitlyn has one of the most relatable arcs in the entire show. A person who is good and wants to do good, but suffers a devastating loss. And then a role is thrust upon her that she doesn't feel ready for. She has no option but to step up and be a leader.
I think it's important to put yourself in Salos shoes. A terrorist attack took away his ability to walk during a vote to give those same people sovereignty. I think I would feel the same way as him.
Now he gets literally “pushed around” by others like Ambessa in an inhospitable environment he helped create (they could’ve made the building more wheelchair accessible but they didn’t even try, look how many steps Viktor has to climb everyday just to get into the building let alone the room!)
Yes, he for sure got good reason to want to retaliate but let's be honest: he's been an a**hole before the attack and he's an a**hole afterwards. He doesn't care about anything else than his Position of Power and sees himself as some kind of superior elite. If he wasn't such a whimp who probably got born into his seat on the council he'd be no better than Silco regarding the narcissist thing.
Imagine having to wait 3 years between season 1 finale and season 2 premiere. 15:10 Vi is there for Caitlyn. She feels for her, as you said, as she too has lost so much in her life but remember, Vi also feels soul-crushing guilt, not just because she feels responsible for Jinx when she left Powder in season 1, Act 1's climax but now Vi feels guilty for the death of Caitlyn's mother because she begged Caitlyn not to kill Jinx when she had the chance. "She's my sister." 25:22 The Black Letter that Caitlyn received among all the condolence letters was actually a memorial invitation. Everyone in attendance received a similar letter. As for the tattoo Vi spotted on the fake enforcer, she wasn't suspicious because he had a tattoo. Piltover's finest regularly kinda hang about, smoke and occasionally have a drink or two on the job(i.e. Marcus in season 1, episode 2- "I'll take the strongest shit you got") so it wouldn't be terribly out of place for an enforcer to have a tattoo. Their law enforcement standards aren't exactly exemplary. Their training and effectiveness, or lack there of also seems to reinforce this sentiment. Vi was suspicious because 1) he was carrying around a strange duffel bag while everyone was standing attentively during Mel's speech and 2) the tattoo's design is actually a symbol of Zaun(a variation of). Although this isn't explicitly mentioned in 'Arcane', a quick google search will confirm this. Vi does however, seem to recognize what the tattoo is and what it potentially means. One of Vi's greatest features throughout 'Arcane', more than any other character imo, is her ability to effectively communicate what she's feeling/understanding with her facial expressions, specifically with her eyes. The animators have been truly touched by the Arcane to be able to visually emulate this level of detail and emotion.
Love the meta-arcanery. I love this show so much, I’m not even sure I’ll like a show that much in my lifetime. Its got everything. Thinking fast and slow.
She was also in prison for a large chunk of her youth (and before that already was born into a criminal underground), her survival would depend on knowing who runs which gang and what tattoos their members have
During the scene of Caitlyn’s mom’s funeral, the only things in color are Caitlyn, her mom (Cassandra), the flower petals which are the color violet, and Vi herself! Also, during the funeral and the council scene, Caitlyn doesn’t allow herself to cry. The first time she really lets herself fall apart is alone with Vi, where she finally allows herself to shed some tears and fall into her arms. Remember, everything in animation is intentional! Keep an eye on the details. Love this series!
Always fascinating how differently people can react to story beats. When you cheered when Vi appears in uniform, I only felt foreboding and sadness. Vi just joined up with the enforcers, who killed her parents, for Caitlyn's sake. It's very conflicting for her. Not a critique of your reaction to be clear. Just an observation of how people approach stories from different perspectives. Depending on what they're empathizing with.
One of the themes in this season is how technology we don't understand can turn us into gods over life and death. But the most important thing for you to focus on is the relationship between Jinx and a little mute girl Isha, she finds. That's the heart of the story, where the "we are gods" theme is the brain.
14:30 Caitlyn said in season one "what about us" when Vi parted to fight with Jayce, i mean it's pretty obvious that was a romantic way to talk about their feelings abouot each other. I can't see that for friends
Ohh in the beginning Jayce wasn't remembering Caitlyn, he was just reacting to Viktor laying dead on the floor (his closest friend & partner of the last 7-10 years). He had promised Viktor to destroy the core & let him die, but evidently he wasn't ready to let him rest... Jayce passed out immediately from the blast in ep 1 so he didn't carry Caitlyn out & most likely doesn't remember it well 😅
I really appreciate your nuance take on the show so far and I actually think I’m gonna appreciate it more especially as season two goes on, I know there’s some things that go over peoples heads as far as some of the character psychology here and what is going on in the show and there’s been without spoiling things Blanket statements, uncertain things, so I can’t wait to see what you feel on certain aspects, very excited to see
Names for characters that I don’t think are ever mentioned in the show, but are found in game Steb (fish guy) & Loris (chill Vander lookalike) aka some of my favorite side characters in the show! 🤭
4:55 the funniest thing about this is that in that explosion you mentioned, if it was in the first episode of S1, Jayce was the only one who passed out or even got an injury, if anything Caitlyn probably carried him lol but still it lead to a lesson so no worries :)
I feel very guilty about something, a death of my bestfriend. It's not something I've ever overcome. I'm very open to talk about it, its been years but I don't think I'll ever stop blaming myself. It was me and my bestfriend Chase, we were both 11ish at the time. And it was summer break, July 16th at 10pm. 2012. It was a full moon. I remember that very vividly. I can see that moon so clearly. Even right now as I'm typing this. I had $20, and I wanted to go to the village store (we lived in a small village in Canada). There was only 1 store, and my house was a short walk away. Just down the street, up a hill and a little bit after that, not longer than 5-10 minutes for 11 year olds. I suggested we go to the village store, it was my idea. So he went out before me, I went out too, but I said I had to go back and pickup my hoodie, it was a bit chillier than I expected that night, so he went further down the driveway. And when I came out, a wolf had attacked him. I got to see everything. I remember opening the door to the house again, my sister, my stepfather, my mother were in the living room, and I don't know if it was a scream or a yell, but it was just "Chase is Dead". I got to see everything. I was the one that had to inform my family that my bestfriend died outside on our driveway. Mauled to death. I remember the moon so vividly because earlier that night around 7-8. I had walked around the neighborhood, it was still dark out, and I walked around. It was a full moon, it was bright. I wasn't scared. I was gladly walking around and just taking the night breeze in. And I blame myself forever 1, because it was my idea to go to the store, buy some chips and pop. And 2, its my fault that the wolf was there, it must've followed me to my house. Seeing a small child walk around the village. And then followed me, stayed at my house. That village, we're full of hunters and fishermen. And that night the whole village came up in arms. I remember so many cars and hunting guns to look for that wolf. To my knowledge that wolf got away. Whether that was just my mother and the village not telling me they hunted it for my mental health, but thats just to me, to me we never found that wolf, and if we did they never told me. I never got over my fear of the dark since then, its anxiety inducing. I can't work or go to school if its a night shift. I get panic attacks when I see wolves in media. I blame myself every day that I went on that walk 2 hours earliers, I blame myself for suggesting to go to the store and leaving him outside. I blame myself for going back into the house to grab my hoodie.
FYI the black envelope with the emblem was an invitation to the memorial for the people lost in the attack. Most of the people that died probably were council members we aren't sure if people died because of the rubble that came crashing down from that building.
Lovely video! I hope you enjoy season 2! It's just a Little bit funny to see you cheer so happily when Vi comes in with the enforcer uniform. To me, this is arguably her lowest moment, and you can see it on her face she doesn't enjoy wearing that uniform for a second knowing the blood it shed in her own family. Personally, I don't think the writers of arcane made the piltover/zaun conflict as prominent as they ought to have, but Fortiche (the studio behind the animation) takes what they're given and makes something so beautiful and compelling with it. Not just with Vi, but Jayce as well. If you look very closely in the scene where he's making the weapons in the forge, his back wound splits open. He's betraying his own promise to Viktor, a Zaunite and his closest friend, knowing he's not awake to disapprove, and it marks him for it.
hope you enjoy the season. the show and the music levels up in a big way in season 2. the soundtrack is crazy good. make sure to check it out once you finish
I love that you are such a champion for Caitlyn and for Vi, I love them both as character and as a duo. I am surprised that you were so pumped that Vi came out in the enforcers uniform. To me, it was a sad scene. Vi put that on for the greater good, because she feels she had no other choice. But putting on that uniform, and going to attack in the under city, is betraying so many over her core values. Excited to see your reaction to the rest of the season!
Ok at the start right now. I think it is important to recognize that the people in the council are not innocent in any of this. They are in full command of the enforcers, and have been the whole time. Beyond that jayce did just perform an attack on the undercity that killed a child. This counterattack did not deescalate things but it wasn't wholly without justification. As I've continued watching i think he's just far too optimistic in the way topside has and is interacting with Zaun. The attack at the end of the episode is the exact definition of an attack meant to inflict terror. It's why I push back so hard when people call jinx a terrorist.
They’re also ignorant/blind to the corruption of Marcus and before him, technically Grayson was corrupted too… she’s just made much more palatable to forgive by being the lesser evil and having been murdered/martyred for “keeping the peace” TOO WELL
Oh my god. I love this channel, but please, please stop making assumptions about what is going to happen before it happens. Several times through this video, if you would have waited a few seconds and watched before pausing you would have saved yourself from going on a tangent about something that doesn’t pertain to the scene
@themoonlit-wolf3773 yeah I like hearing what people who know nothing about what’s to come speculating and giving their first impressions on characters and scenes (huge league lore nerd talking here) 😅 I thought it was funny to see him speculating about the lady being Jinx or Sevika when the screen paused on Renni’s face lol
@ I don’t understand why you’re watching reaction content when you only want a human being to react at a time you have designated. You want Commentary, not Reaction content lol. If he’s withholding his reaction for a specific moment, it wouldn’t be as organic or genuine. You’d enjoy video essays though. Or a different style of video. It’s rude to ask someone to change their entire content style for just you. Your style of content is out there dw, I’ve seen it. ❤️❤️❤️
Police violence is VERY different of crimes from a maginalized part of society. Police suposes to defend ALL the people. Of course the felling of Caitlin is real and sad, but in the big see of things was not the same thing of what people in Zaun suffer day by day. Hard to see Vi betray all this becoming a enforcer, hurt almost. When I saw it, I just feel sad 😂
I was bored and thought I’ll see if anyone has uploaded anything new on UA-cam and here it is! Season 2! 🥳 🎉 You can do this! Keep going (Moral support in advance)
Not sure if someone told you, but that whole sequence during Caitlyn's mother's funeral is entirely charcoal drawn aside from the foreground characters who are drawn normally.

One of the themes in this season is how technology we don't understand can turn us into gods over life and death. But the most important thing for you to focus on is the relationship between Jinx and a little mute girl Isha, she finds. That's the heart of the story, where the "we are gods" theme is the brain.
Knowledge is a paradox
14:30 Caitlyn said in season one "what about us" when Vi parted to fight with Jayce, i mean it's pretty obvious that was a romantic way to talk about their feelings abouot each other. I can't see that for friends
Cold openings are so cool for grabbing your attention by jumping straight into the action.

I really appreciate your nuance take on the show so far and I actually think I’m gonna appreciate it more especially as season two goes on, I know there’s some things that go over peoples heads as far as some of the character psychology here and what is going on in the show and there’s been without spoiling things Blanket statements, uncertain things, so I can’t wait to see what you feel on certain aspects, very excited to see
Season 2 here we gooo!!!
20:45 your empathy is heartwarming.
The chainsaw woman is Renni fyi. And i am glad that you remember who she is.
Names for characters that I don’t think are ever mentioned in the show, but are found in game
Steb (fish guy) & Loris (chill Vander lookalike) aka some of my favorite side characters in the show! 🤭
HES STARTING THE LAST OF US OMFG LETS GOOOO
4:55 the funniest thing about this is that in that explosion you mentioned, if it was in the first episode of S1, Jayce was the only one who passed out or even got an injury, if anything Caitlyn probably carried him lol
but still it lead to a lesson so no worries :)
season 2 hype!! very excited to keep supporting and watching!
Season 1 hurt, season 2 will rip your heart out! But seriously such an incredible work of art this show is.

Heavy is the crown if you have empathy.
I love seeing you cheer haha, so hype this first episode. You said you’re so ready but I don’t think you are! Lol
Nice to see how u progress and build up throughout the storyline.

Thank you for not letting us wait 2 weeks for a new reaction
Came here to say this
hope you enjoy the season. the show and the music levels up in a big way in season 2. the soundtrack is crazy good. make sure to check it out once you finish
I think you’ll really love this series even better than last season maybe

They’re also ignorant/blind to the corruption of Marcus and before him, technically Grayson was corrupted too… she’s just made much more palatable to forgive by being the lesser evil and having been murdered/martyred for “keeping the peace” TOO WELL
Your reactions are so insightful and I always look forward to seeing them. Thank you.

*looking at Renni* "Is this a Jinx or is it Sevika?
🙃
😳🫣
Oh my god. I love this channel, but please, please stop making assumptions about what is going to happen before it happens. Several times through this video, if you would have waited a few seconds and watched before pausing you would have saved yourself from going on a tangent about something that doesn’t pertain to the scene
I couldn’t agree more I love this guy’s content but if he could watch the scene till the end before making assumptions it would be amazing
That is literally the entire point of a reaction? If you want to rewatch the show just do that man.
@themoonlit-wolf3773 yeah I like hearing what people who know nothing about what’s to come speculating and giving their first impressions on characters and scenes (huge league lore nerd talking here)
😅 I thought it was funny to see him speculating about the lady being Jinx or Sevika when the screen paused on Renni’s face lol
@themoonlit-wolf3773 mind your business? We’re allowed to want him to REACT to a full scene before pausing and giving his opinion.
If Vander was still alive , he would be so disappointed to see Vi bcome an Enforcer

LOVE YOUR REACTION TO ARCANE THANK YOU FOR THIS ❤❤
"Caitlyn quickly becoming my favorite" Uh-oh
i survived season 1..... BARELY ... my dude :D
Not sure if someone told you, but that whole sequence during Caitlyn's mother's funeral is entirely charcoal drawn aside from the foreground characters who are drawn normally.
