- In this video I'll be showing you step-by-step how to use the Windows Package Manager known as WINGET. I'll teach you how to list all the info about every app on your PC, how to find applications in the Winget repository, how to install and update apps using Winget, including how to batch install multiple apps, and how to uninstall any application on your system, including bloatware. As a bonus I'll show you how to install and use the Windows terminal.

Rigging the contest against your son-in-law was uncool, bro.
As a Father-in-Law it's my job to give him grief 😜
I'm really sad UA-cam took your videos away from my feed. Still subscribed but realized I haven't seen your stuff in a while.
Great video! This would have been a blessing last week when I fresh installed Windows on two machines, one machine three times (after installing all the games/apps twice)!
I know content like this doesn't get the high view counts but is very much why i started watching your channel. Glad to be seeing your videos again!
thanks man!! I knew it existed but didn't really use it until now.
Useful stuff. Thank you Sir
Useful. Thanks!
Thanks a lot! Great stuff!
Très instructif, un grand merci
Winget is great. I reflexively "winget upgrade --all" every day due to bad arch habits.
Something i noticed. I just didn't trust winget at first so i installed my apps manually. However, even after that winget detected my programs and was able to update them like through command line. It was an unexpected but welcome surprise! Even niche apps like synctrazor, aimp, and translucentTB were added to the repo. However, i have seen that the repo is slow to update to the latest release.
Even in Linux, where package managers are a lot more common, depending on the Linux version software will be out of date in the repos, because it needs to be tested.
I guess it's a relatively small price to the average user, considering the convenience.
I’m not sure if your in cyber security, but I would love to see some content from your perspective on how to manage and stay secure. Another awesome video would be to perhaps go into depth about windows bloatware and how to identify un-needed applications.
Your videos are so knowledge-full. Thank you for sharing! Keep up the amazing content.
Thanks CJ! Good to know!!
I tried having a look at it, but it seems like using it requires a Microsoft account. Can that be right? It seems illogical why that would be necessary when the Microsoft store works fine without one
Neat little tutorial! I will start using winget for sure. XBox game bar is actually useful with it's performance widget. I also feel bad for your son in law, who lost out on a chance for $100 best buy gift card in a rigged competition!
He made out ok later. ua-cam.com/video/FiKArBJJoOU/v-deo.html
As a home user this is great to know and learn but the gui from websites and the windows uninstalled are “easier”. This is definitely super useful if you set up computers for a school or business where you can create a pack and set up multiple computers completely with one command.
Oh baby, trust me once this gets more attention and becomes more feature rich, people will forget the old way of downloading most apps. Look at Linux, it is so damn easy to install literally anything within their repository
Great video, easy to follow.
I find the manager useless. I Never needed it since it came out. In linux a manager is great though but there isnt one that is best. But maybe that is just me. Im just saying for what I use/need.
There's always chocolatey if someone wants an option with UI
It does NOT work on Windows 10 22H2 Home, I get error message ..... 'winget' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Tip for next time, a bit of music would go a long way! Love your videos by the way
Thanks, appreciate the support. Also there is a backing track on the video.
@@ElevatedSystems Meant specifically for the first section of the video, making it feel more intense during the race and all that. The rest of the video is great!
I will use it once it has a gui. I don't care to learn magic spells, I prefer clicking on pictures to typing. Why would you want to type download instead of hitting a button that is labelled download.
🤔🥴👍
Hold up so red hat was never gunna win the gift card anyway? 😂
Bit annoying the list source function shows all unknown too. It would be easier if unknown was seperate from winget and msstore. I do also wonder why they are separate thing, it would be smarter if winget packagemanager used msstore as its GUI.
Power-user must use Linux terminal instead of the MS Terminal craps:
Failed in attempting to update the source: Winget
Died when searching source: Winget
An unexpected error occurred while executing the command:
0x8a15000f: Data required by the source is missing
Think I'll just stick to Chocolatey for now until winget matures to the level Chocolatey is.
Obviously the whole nickname thing didn't stick 🤦♂️😂
I see you haven't forgotten your phonetic alphabet 1SG.
Microsoft needs a proper repo with ownly Checked software for professional applications. Somethig like The snap store.
Holy crap you are old Bro 😂 JK, but still hard to believe you're a Grampa already.
so they really have a pkg manager now
They sure do. You should see how they "stumbled" upon the idea after interviewing someone, it's an interesting story. Either or, glad it's finally a thing in Windows. Now I'm just waiting for the ability to manage Winget in offline setups.
Why Winget over choco?
I did the tutorial because winget is new and out of beta and there isn't much content on it. There is a lot of good content on Chocolatey out there already.
@@ElevatedSystems fair
Why would you keep using cmd? just use powershell....
Like I said it works the same in the CMD Prompt or Powershell however the Powershell is a bit more strict with the order of operations of the commands, options and arguments. CMD is more forgiving for users new to text based commands.
Minecraft Users: If you uninstall all XBOX packages the Microsoft Minecraft Launcher will no longer work, but the Mojang Launcher version will continue to work. (on my PC, it's located under C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft Launcher)
Basically it's like Linux kek
I like your content, but I'll pass because I am a Linux person.
