I reset my PC last week and installed my applications using winget. It’s awesome to see Microsoft going the package manager way. It’s still in the early phase and I’m excited for its future.
Nice!!!
Microsoft is doing everything right, after doing it all wrong for 25 years.
Better late than never I guess
Started using this just two weeks ago and it's awesome and superfast installing my favorites apps. ❤❤
Great!
This is awesome! Thanks Dean!!
Happy to share!
This was great! Thank you for this video 🙏🏼
Thanks God watching! Please let me know what we’ll last to interested in
Thank you for the information. Didn't know about it.
If you liked that You should check out this other one as well ua-cam.com/video/RIJUCXXYClw/v-deo.html
Man! I love your style of teaching! Liked and subscribed! Thank you!
Awesome! Thanks ☺️
Holy Smokes that is amazing. Thank you.
Anytime! Subscribe for more content like this…and I do take requests ☺️
nice video. You are very clear and nice :) New subscriber
Thanks for your support!
Would love to use this more but right now there are a bunch of custom apps that don't exist in the repo.
I've been finding more stuff in chocolatey, but it's been annoying that certain apps like vc redist package aren't updated because the app owner is some random dude that has been offline for years.
So would be interesting to see how to build your own repo for winget, put in a custom app and how you deploy an app using a custom repo.
Would the custom repo be public or could you limit access?
Could you give access to other tenants users?
How would you implement customization like entering a license key?
Maybe i expect too much, but I'd love to see some more deep dive videos :)
All great questions Thomas! The WinGet public repo is curated / controlled by Microsoft so the upload process for apps is cool. I know you can add additional repos…not sure about 100% private ones because I haven’t gone down that path yet…I’ll look into it
Great stuff... Do you think this could extend to language packs installations and even to fod's....
I know you can do language pack installs with powershell…I haven’t seen a way to do it in WinGet…yet
I'm a regular pc user and it's still really useful for me
Awesome
This blew my mind! The potential! Gah... the potential immediately handicapped by not having AutoPilot ESP support - the scripts only run after a user has signed in. Unless I read that wrong?
running WinGet as system is a known issue/request and it looks like it's in the works...
@@AzureAcademy Make sure you make a post about that when it's available incase I miss it. Just for me. :) lol - thanks for these videos!!
Will do
What a hero/amazing stuff. Thanks a lot.
But what about updating the software which is uploaded by the Intune portal (MS Store) since this is using winget?
That would be an application update package, which is a standard practice in Intune apps
@@AzureAcademy Thanks Dean!
You got it!
@@AzureAcademy do you have a video on how to update apps installed through intune on mobile devices? Ex: i install whtsap through intune but if there is a new update then how to push it through intune? Really appreciate if you can guide me here, thanks in advance.
Yup, Watch this video 👉ua-cam.com/video/V6ucHR0HQq8/v-deo.html let me know what you think!
5:10 I didn't know "Update" was a command, "Upgrade" is the one I have used
The commands do have alias’s, another one is SEARCH you can also use FIND
can i select a verion on only to new one?
Yes you can select a specific version
"Shows what is already installed no matter where it came from" 🤯🤯🤯
Thats hard to believe! I am sure there are limitations. Who makes and maintains the Winget/chocolatey database? Can we add to the public repo? Can we maintain a private database or are we then just talking msi packages
I know right! You can start here github.com/microsoft/winget-pkgs
Dawg can you fix your audio and keep it stable it keeps switching between left and right channels like your doind 8d audio but like not music
Thanks for the feedback…I do balance the audio, but also use it for effect when I turn so it seems more realistic
@@AzureAcademy fair enough sorry if it came off as a rude tone I do not mean it in a rude way
No worries, thanks again for the feedback ☺️
Does winget work on Windows server?
Yes you can. Try this
gist.github.com/aiudirog/e915e63e346c9d6429c9b7da72cb3de3
I still prefer chocolatey, because it allows you to run custom scripts in the package file.
No worries, you do you ☺️
You're still my hero though
HA HA Thanks!
Just a heads up - wingetui crashes constantly, it's not reliable for production use yet.
Sorry you are having issues Alan, I have been using it myself for over 6 months, and using it with customers…I haven’t seen it crash once.
Make sure you update WinGet to the latest version, maybe that will help!
@@AzureAcademy Thanks, I'll give that a shot. It's not too big a deal anyways, ultimately I'm going to deploy using the command line anyways. Thanks!
Sounds good!
Isn't the entire point of Winget to NOT have to deal with a UI?
No I do t think it’s the whole point. Even chocolatey has a gui is you want to use it.
I think the point of WinGet it to accelerate the installation and update of apps…which you can do from a script or GUI
Where is the GUI frontend?
We need a GUI frontend!
Many of my users get a heart attack when i tell them to use a command line.
I show the GUI in the video and how to install it
va directement au sujet stp
Since this video is introducing WINGET to an audience who never heard of it…which part of the beginning would you suggest I should cut?
why so many dashes, choco upgrade all -y just one dash as always ms add to many functions
The construction of a language doesn’t indicate the helpfulness of a language
How do you know WinGet will get legitimate software?
The process to add apps so the WinGet repo is controlled by Microsoft. Each app is scanned and checked for safety, viruses etc before it’s allowed to added to the repos
@@AzureAcademy Thanks for the answer.
Any time
The number of likes is 666, I'm not gonna ruin it but here's some engagement.
Oh boy…thanks for the engagement ☺️
Why Firefox is available but Chrome not :D
Chrome IS there…I showed installing it during the video 🤪
@@AzureAcademy I can't add Chrome via Intune, but I can add Firefox. Also winget search chrome shows me empty results, but firefox is found.
Try searching for google chrome
@@AzureAcademy Are you kidding me? :D
LOL what can I say…it’s google
OMG we have PIP?! :)
LOL
