That was brilliant. Great humour: "First one of the night"! and the Arabic look with the napkin etc. Fab locations, your mum's condo looks beautiful, plus the restaurant and the amazing looking food. I wish my mother would move to Pattaya, I would then go too!

Have to admit this one resonates me more than most. The visit to your mother's apartment and then your night out with wife and friend at a great restaurant reminds me of what I want when I Make the move.
Glad you are enjoying catching up Dave. Cafe Des Amis is definitely one of the finest restaurants in the area and I was very apprehensive about filming there. So much so I only decided to film 30 minutes before. I didn't advise my friend, nor my Mum, so it was, as usual, just a night out with the camera there. In all honesty we don't go into town much, preferring to stay local to where we live. Hope your plans and expectations for your future here all pan out. Been a while since Nong has had time off to make a video with me, but fingers crossed soon 🙏🙏

@DavidAndNong I did want to say that Cafe des Amis is the place to take the special date occasion or just to relax for the gin drink special. The owner sounds like an interesting person to know.

I'm 56, from Glasgow and very close to my mum, who's just turned 83.
Like a few other guys I'd imagine, my trips to Soddom & Gemorra-on-sea are one aspect of my life I've been less than forthcoming about.
She's very young for her age and open minded so not easily shocked, but still, my occasional mixed doubles matches with young Nok from Kon Kaen & Lek from Nakhon Ratchasima is an aspect of my life I've chosen not to share with her.
So fair play to you David, in a move so left of center its pure 3 dimensional chess you actually moved your mum TO Pattaya. Its not exactly Saltcoats so that's definitely a bold approach 😂
Many congratulations on the 10 years mate - your mum has clearly not lost her joi de vivre and sense of adventure - total rockstar. Between her, your very cute missus and your also very cute wee dug, you've certainly carved out the most wholesome life in sin city of anyone I've ever heard tell of😜👍
My life, in comparison to most who visit Pattaya, is very tame, Im sure. We hardly ever visit the town as we have everything here on our doorstep. My Mum is probably my greatest video fan and sees the town through my camera lens. She does have a good social life, and has even frequented Soi 6 a couple of times. Sometimes the occasional trip into Dicey rileys and Robin Hood....she is very happy. For me retirement is as close to perfect as it could be.
Oh and that's a stunning apartment!! So much nicer than the very new ones as its so much more spacious! Huge rooms and a great sized balcony!
Plus its beautifully renovated and looks very modern and stylish but yet very obviously a real home. The very latest 2 beds are less than half the size but also feel like impersonal hotel suites.
This is the way to go. Buy older style and more spacious and then renno to your taste.
I totally agree Will, an older unit in a decent building will be much more of a home, rather than an apartment to escape to

Watching your you tube vlog just now and you’re a really good son, so loved your visit to your mum…sweet ❤ . My husband and I have been coming to Pattaya for over 30 years as it’s our winter destination (we have cats so we don’t want to leave them too long). We met your brother in Mantra a few years ago and had a few cocktails with him (sadly, the bar/restaurant is no longer there). You’re channel is excellent and you do Scotland proud. Your wife Nong has picked up a bit of a Scottish accent, which is so sweet and made us laugh. We are are coming over again in February 24 and this restaurant is on our list, we try as many restaurants as we can as like you two, we love our food. Big gin lovers too as we have our own private gin bar with 80 gins👍 I want to vist Mays Kitchen - heard good reviews. If you would like to join us as our guests, that would be nice. Keep up the good work, especially on the bikes……BTW, we aren’t a couple of old farts, we enjoy a good night out, never judge and love the Thai people cheers! 🥂 may x

Hi Michael, thanks for joining us over on the living channel. Mum has been here 5 years and she is now 89. Cafe des Amis is probably the best restaurant in town. The prices (for say the beef wellington) is around 1,000 baht. The wine would definitely bump up the overall cost. We are usually around 3,000 for two with a starter, cocktail and mains. I shudder to think the cost for this quality back in the UK. 🙏🙏

That’s a nice little condo! It must be lovely having your mum with you in Pattaya. Unfortunately, my mother passed at quite a young age. But I’m sure she would have come and stayed with me too, given the chance.
