My garage door spring broke 2 yrs ago, and I did the work myself, and I was 65 yrs old. There are people out there who will take advantage of elderly people, so I did it myself. I watched some YT videos to learn how to do it. I have double springs on my door, so I replaced both. I think they cost about $150 each at that time. If you're mechanically inclined, you can do the work, but you can get badly hurt if you're not careful. If you're careful, it's not a bad job. It took me 1-2 hrs, but I was being careful.
