I find I'm not generally a fan of art yarn, but I am absolutely overcome by how beautiful this technique is! I mean, my jaw dropped multiple times. I'm sure it would take me many hours of hard work to make it look so clean. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful work with us!
Thank you for explaining quite a complex spin. You are so joyous about your fibre, yarns and spinning. Your giggle makes me smile as I learn from your video. Thank you for being you!
Your Videos Are Very thorough. I’ve been spinning again for 3 1/2 years. I’ve only mastered fingering and sock yarn. This is what I want to do for Tour De Fleece this year! I’m sure glad I watched your video before attempting it. Also, I love how you are always so put together! It makes me feel like I’m getting A lesson just for me and you bare enough to put effort into everything! … yourself, your wool, your location and background in your house-everything! Thank you so much. I’m just wondering if you’re close to me. I live in northern Iowa. Also, what, if any, wool festivals are you going to this summer? ❤️👍😊🐑🪡🦙🐏🧶
Love your Videos, they are my base for learning this art. You are amazing and I always learn something new. I’ve only been spinning for a month but have learned so much.. Thank You! And btw.. love your hair!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was trying to follow directions in one of my spinning books but was getting frustrated.. your steps clarify the process for me!
What a great tutorial! I’m delving into core spinning and was curious about how to create beehives. This was such a clear and informative video. From one October birthday autumn lover to another - many thanks!!!
I love you. You make me smile so much and your yarn is gorgeous I can't do art yarn on my tiny wheel but I will do one day when I get a new one in about 10 yrs lol x
I can barely do this yarn on my wheel as you saw! We all have a spinning wheel we dream about don't we? I love your wheel by the way. The sound it makes when you spin is such a pleasant sound. It's a happy little clickity, clickity, click!
Lol yes it does and I've now got one of my other wheels working so now on with teaching my 7 year old boy how to spin as that's all he has asked since I started and he can now tredle gonna start him with fiber tonight I think and I may film him at the same time x
Oh my goodness! That would be awesome! My boys were interested at first but then found their own crafts. I sometimes wish I had a spinning buddy. Hey, maybe that's how I ended up on UA-cam!
I think he maybe the same as yours lol. Where as for me I wanted to share an old craft I want people to get back into the old ways lol I also like making wicker baskets and glass engraving and jewellery making but my fav is yarn spinning and crochet they are my life now the others are there cos i wanted to learn them x
Hi am is Australia but I am going away for the weekend , trued to dye my wool it haven’t dryer , I was in a panic , brain storm I am drying it in my dehydrator , I see you do wonderful videos and give so much of your time I thought I’d let you know this so that you can add it to your show I am trying to find a spinning wheel I live in north Queensland so nice spinning wheels here , it’s too hot but I’ll keep looking.
Your videos are amazing! Started to watch awhile ago but finally got my first spinning wheel, Ashford 65- 70, it is just like one you teach to spin on. I am very excited to start , it works after a few adjustments and my husband's help🙂
Hi JillianEve, I am subscribed to you channel! I really enjoy your videos. I would like to learn to do art yarn, thick in part and unusual yarn combos, etc... And I would like to use the tools you are using. Could you do a tutorial on how to pick a carding drum, brushes, mat and spinning tools. What works for you? What do you like? Thank you so much. I really appreciate it! Keep making beauty! Thank you again.
Will you be my spirit animal!? I just love your video! So happy I came across it! Kudos to pushing your Ashford Elizabeth; I did the same thing with my Ash Trad. (Poor thing, it’s a sturdy thing). I’ve tried to do this technique and I chicken out a few beehives in. I especially love your textured core.
Haha! Thank you! Those Ashfords are work horses aren't they? I have made all different sizes of beehives including some very tiny ones as big as my fingernail. As long as the base yarn is small enough to give contrast they look awesome. Don't chicken out, go for it! 😊
Do you have a video explaining further on why you add a twist into the core and the balancing of it, I watched a video of someone mentioning they twist all their manufactured yarns and I got confused. Thank you
You can add twist to the core that is then removed while corresponding the other direction. The goal is to have a corespun yarn that isn't so energized. 💜🧶
I haven't decided yet. This kind of yarn works well woven into cloth, but it also works well when it is knit or crocheted with an extra large hook or needles. What would you do with it? I think I could also tie the skein nice and securely and just wear the skein itself as a cowl. Hmm.....
JillianEve I see it incorporated into a weaving, either as part of a tapestry, or saori type wall hanging. I recently purchased a rigid heddle loom, and your creation would look fabulous as part of a scarf or shawl.
Your yarn is absolutely stunning. You say you're going to finish up the yarn does that mean that you set the twist with warm water? And of course no thwacking... Right?

I’ve seen this video before, but it popped up after another video I was watching. It’s always good to see spinning techniques a second time.

I watched you blend on the drum carder on repeat, I don’t know why that was so satisfying
It's pretty satisfying in person too! 😊
I love all your videos! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! What drum carder do you have?
Totally amazed and inspired by this creation!
Love that yarn!!! I'm learning so much from your videos.
This is really fun! Thanks so much for sharing this technique. Your yarn is absolutely stunning! 🐑🦙🍄🍁❤🐪🐐🐇🧶

So beautiful, I too love autumn but as we are going into spring you’ve inspired me to try a spring version of a beehive yarn. 😀
Oooh, that sounds amazing! Can you tag me on Instagram when you finish it? I'd love to see some other beehives!

I hope you do more art yarn spinning for us!
My plan is that at least one video a month will be some kind of textured yarn! I'm glad you like it!
I'm an October baby too! Thanks for the great video!
That was very interesting!! What is that card equipment called?? Thank you!
A drum carder.

Beautiful and thanks, as I never knew how to make beehives : )
They are so fancy looking in the yarn, but when you get the hang of it, they aren't too difficult. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Lovely
Love it!!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
You are very welcome. I think this is one of my most favorite yarns ever!
WOW! Awesome!
Your video’s are so entertaining, you always make me laugh :)
We all need a little more laughter right? Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy them! ❤

I like to use General Mills International flavors in my coffee, way cheaper than Starbucks!
Evie! Your eyebrows and mustache were hilarious😂❤
Is that a compass rose tattoo on your left forearm?
It is! 🧶🧭

That’s so pretty. What are you going to make with the yarn?

Do you have a link for your manual roving carder? I want to step up from my blending board.
This is a beautiful yarn! But, I am not sure what you would use a yarn like this for. 🤔
Some people use it for weaving or Adding accents to knitted or crocheted pieces.
I'm with you on being an Autumn Goddess. I was also born in Oct. Fall is everything but I am not a PSL fan.
I love coffee overall, but I think cider is truly my favorite fall drink. When everyone else is drinking PSL what do you drink for fall?
@@JillianEve I love a good hot Chai latte in the Fall.
Also, Happy Birthday!
@@JillianEve and a happy birthday to you as well.

Yep!
I am an art yarn/bee hive newbie and having trouble with my core yarn getting super twisted. I'm not sure what to do. Can you help????
Make sure you aren’t adding too much twist. Try spinning treadling slower and see if that helps. I’ve had that problem before, too.
Requires patience you say? Try this on a drop spindle! It's a really bad time!
Oh dear! 😱
😆☕️
I can’t core spin to save my life 😢
Are you a sailor?
I love your hair like this!!! @jillianeve
