The Magician and Master of Material, Anselm Kiefer has done it again! Wonderful Exhibit!
Thank you for watching and yes - he did it again. One of the shows of the year!
I was brought to rears on a third viewing of Kieffer ‘s latest works……I was reminded of past centuries of painters who must have suffered greatly, thinking of Caravaggio and Van Gogh. And was it the Rocco period when slithering creatures were fair game for painters and their patrons. If you look hard enough you will always find beauty in the most unusual places.❤
Thank you
Thank you for watching. A great show I still think of a lot.
Kieffer can always find beauty in death, and destruction, the sunflower amidst the the darkness and destruction gave me hope for the future as he reminded us of the toll on humans during all wars and tribulations. I love his dedication to us showing what we don’t want to think about, at the same time the beauty overwhelms us ❤
Really agree. This show is in my top ten of 2023!
Great inspiring Film - ! Nice Work
Thank you very much for watching.
Looks like a monumental show of the master. Hoping to see it and thanks for your introduction to it.
Really hope you can get there before it ends. Monumental is a great word - if you are a fan you will love it!
You've made my week with this film, I'm so gutted not to be able to see it in person but this is great. A lot of the work has Kieffer's regular iconography , did you feel there was much specifically Joycean as well? Those final works were amazing. As ever, a cracking vlog a great balance of informed commentary and time to look at the works. Thank you so much for this, keep em coming!
Hi Sue, I think the novel was more a starting point. It's interesting because Kiefer has confessed he tried to read it several times, both in German and translation and couldn't. It was only when he came across an audio version, which he had on in his studio while he worked, that he understood it. Many of the works had titles taken from the novel and the 'water paintings' took various direct references. I think the overall theme of the novel (as far as I can work out - I must actually read it) drove the show - the idea of fall and resurrection. Thank you for watching and for your kind words.
Liking your camera work and your commentary - thanks. Subscribed for more :)
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing. Marina Abramović coming up next.
Thanks for your reply, I think I'm being too literal in seeking direct references to Joyce, as you say it informs the background of the work and ideas. I suppose I was struggling to fit such a polyphonic text with Kiefer's postwar themest which tend towards the loss of language thinking of Adorno and the poet Paul Clean who he's referenced previously. Anyhow once again but thanks for these blogs...am off to catch up on your back catalogue now 😁
wonderful film of these works. the music is an interference.
Thank you so much for watching. I loved this exhibition so much. Do mute the volume regarding the music!
Why must your music be so loud when you are talking! It contributes nothing to the visuals in you walk around the gallery, but thanks for showing this exhibition.
Sorry - I have hopefully got the balance a bit better since. Thank you for watching anyway.
@@artgalleryexplorer Hey, I appreciate your reply. I love Kiefer's work and am thankful for your video but I had to watch it silently. Keep making videos, though!
Kinda depressing but still interesting.
Dark, I agree but those paintings in the final gallery space blew me away. I'm probably a bit bias though so good to hear you were intrigued.
Boring.
