Have you secured an admission yet? You have to get accepted into the program before you can proceed with the residence permit application for you and your spouse.

Educational institutions have no reason or justification to ask about your relationships.
For that reason they don't ask personal information, which is irrelevant for your admission process.
They also have nothing to do with residence permit applications, which are handled by the Finnish Immigration Services.
