I have a sideshow Bob in my area. Used to work with him and did not like it. He would do things just like that with wrong refrigerants, when there was two conduits going to a condensing unit on a roof just punch a hole in the side and run the wires through the hole with no bushing or conduit connector, even would go out to his coil change out jobs and find some of them with the solenoid installed backward. Kept telling the boss to get rid of him or keep him away from refrigeration jobs, well I got canned and now work for his competitor and he has lost all but one major account. Talk about sticking it to the man.

Samething here I was referred by a actual combi oven manufacturer to the company I work for now and next month I will be taking all of my old customers back sucks to be them I handled all of the service in my area during the Pandemic and afterwards they hired a branch manager that has no prior service experience he only had management training multiple customers complained about him but when I refused to do something dangerous and I reported him to HR he fired me so I had to wait for a year before I can take my customers back.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

early on they said retrofit 448A into 404A systems, but there was trouble with the txv's not working well enough, so they went to saying use R-22 txv's!
now of course they have TXV's directly listed for each (go figure), more pipe-dream bull-snot driven by the green thumpers. we should see how green they are when they have all rotten foods. 🤣

Sideshow Bob may have a service manager that is a bean counter and because he did not have a jug of 448a and his service manager ordered him to recover the charge and weigh in the 404a refrigerant because he was going to authorize a new jug of 448a for this call. I speak from experience I had a service manager that wanted me to mix refrigerants and when I refused he ordered me to so I went to his boss and when he found out he cussed me out and accused me of snitching so when I reported him to HR he fired me. He had no service or mechanical experience but he was a service/branch manager that was only worried about the dollars not the safety of the customer or my safety.

Here's some context to why this likely happened. 448A is the CA replacement for 404A. Per title 24 all major work to a 404A system needs to be converted to 448A. The problem is 448A uses a R22/407A TXV. So you can't just drop in 448A into an old 404A system or vise versa.

    • @NorCal-refrigeration
