It absolutely has to be Kentucky. Happy New Year Hunter 🎉
Happy new year! 🥃
@@Bourbon_Hunterbring me decadence
I’m outside Bardstown if ur in Tennessee u have to come
Thought the exact same thing - you have to visit some distilleries in Lex/Louisville/Bardstown areas - tons of great content and the home of bourbon; I live in OH and do a lot of hunting in KY, you will find some amazing stuff (not always amazing prices 😂)
I hunted KY last year not much to be found... Was more lucky in California of all places....
DMV (DC/Maryland/Virginia). Get state control msrp, secondary stores with bottles you've never heard of, and great store picks all in one video. Plus I can give you a hand guided tour
A tour guide sounds nice 🙌🏼
Just subscribed to your channel @bourbonRetriever.....I am up here in Hagerstown!
@@fazegrantthegoat9724 cheers man! Heard Barrel Nation has some good picks up there
Also in VA. Also willing to show you around. A lot of good distillery’s here. Keep up the content. Cheers! 🥃
Love your journey man. It’s been growing and glad I’ve found it early on. Cheers to you and the growth of the channel.
Much appreciated! Cheers! Thank you for your support 🥃
I would go to Kentucky. Hands down the best and most fun place to Bourbon Hunt. A big thumbs up on your #1!!! I have last years and this years Old Rip 12 Lot B. Absolutely great Bourbon!!
Awesome! Thank you!
You should visit California. San Francisco Bay area is a massive honey hole for allocated whiskey. Why? Tequila is taking over as the most popular spirit in that area and bourbon tends to sit around far longer than it did a year ago. You'll also find insane barrel picks that you don't see in very many other states at grocery stores. Many of the chain grocery stores (like the big Safeway locations) have better Barrel picks than big chain stores in the east. Seriously, I was gobsmacked by the insane barrel picks in California and I visited maybe 200 liquor stores across 8 states (including Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee - states with easy access to the major distilleries).
Cheers and prayers for the new year to you and yours!😉👍✌️🫡🙏
Happy new year! 🥃🤙🏼
gotta come to the Show Me state! come to Missoui!
Mizzzzouuuu
Great video, been fun watching you on your journey and growing your channel. I’d vote Kentucky for a visit.
Kentucky has been getting a couple votes 👀
Great lineup. Amazing growth. Looking forward to seeing what you do next year. Happy new year. Cheers
Happy new year!
Good job on your channel dude, I rarely hunt bottles anymore but enjoy seeing what is on the shelf in other areas. And the enthusiasm is great, enjoy your bottles and forget the prices. 🍻🍻
Thanks, will do! Cheers! 🥃
I bought that tale of 2 islands as well, was a little nervous because I'm not the biggest fan of peated scotch but the rum notes are so prominent that the smoke evens it out so well. St Louis missouri has some decent selection and close enough to Illinois so you can hit 2 different allocations basically at the same time
Thats not a bad plan! There is so much good stuff out there I had to throw that barrel tale of two islands in there!
You should definitely come to washington state! We can share all the awesome places and plenty of whiskey
And the taxes 😅
Keep doing what your doing! I love your content. Cheers!!
Thanks, will do!
Kentucky. Happy New Year!
Kentucky is getting a lot of votes! 🥲
A really nice guy gave me a sample of that 133 proof 10yr Purple Top, it sure is delicious! Cheers and happy New Year, Hunter!🥃✌️
Happy new year! Enjoy those samples buddy!
Kentucky for sure! Got to experience the trail last year and it was amazing. Nice meeting you up in Manning today as well.
Hey! Thanks for taking the time and chatting! Cheers my dude! If you join the discord hit me up 🤙🏼🥃
Agree with the Kentucky comment! Got to go to the home of bourbon haha. Thank you for the store recommendations a couple weeks ago! Scored a bottle of ECBF c923 and OF single barrel barrel proof burris pick
Great! Cheers! Its looking like Kentucky is getting a lot of love today 😂
@Bourbon_Hunter where in Texas will you be hunting? I'm in the Houston area if you need some suggestions.
Aww, come on over to Maui! Great place to live and work
Come to Iowa, Templeton Rye, Cody Road, and Cedar Ridge are all from here. You know we got good corn 😂 and know how to farm, the local whiskeys are top notch, and you're bound to find some gems
Great list and great bottles! We always enjoy your videos. Here's to a GREAT 2024!
Thanks! You too!
Well done, damn good list! Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
Minnesota
My top 5 bottles of 2023...just really got started hunting in October:
Michter's 10 Rye (at MSRP, actually got on a points list at a local store and got a text)
Weller Antique 107 (overpaid at $150 but really wanted one)
ECBP C923 x 3 (all at around $80)
Makers Wood Finishing Series BRT-01 (from 2022, couldn't believe it was just sitting there on the shelf in a smaller liquor store, $100-$110 if I remember correctly)
Old Forester Single Barrel Barrel Proof ($90)
What a great score on the Makers Mark! I cannot believe it was still there!
Kentucky. Happy New Year 🎉
Happy new year! Another vote for Kentucky!
I just picked up a Russell's 13 I love that bottle and will pay $$$ for it forever. The Highwest one was okay for me, still feel the WMND is better. Purple top yet to try, the green top sucked. I hear great things about that Barrell bottle, defiantly on my list to get. Never tired Papi is it worth it? Great video great line up.l
NC! Easy drive. Bring your golf clubs and an appetite for some great BBQ. Maybe catch a great hoops game too.
Great idea!
Have the Tales of Two Isles and I do like that it has its own flavor. The sugar rum and the earthy flavor from the Islay scotch make it unlike anything else in my collection. Do have a Filibuster Triple Cask finished in an Ardbeg barrel and it has that same earthy taste but without the rum…
Can’t agree more! Cheers 🥃
How does that compare to high west campfire?
@@megadeth7779 1. I love scotch, especially the peaty stuff. I feel like Campfire doesn’t really blend that well together (I probably should try it again, didn’t hate it or love it) and you get a ton of flavor but it’s kind of all over the place. Barrel is more subtle with to scotch since it doesn’t actually use scotch in the blend and the rum is more present but you do get some interesting notes from the barrel.
Its nothing like campfire. Much more sweetness and very very little smoke
Kentucky!🍾Happy New Year!🎉
Happy new year!!
My Top 5 additions this year: Old Fitz 19, OFBB, PVW 15, PVW 20. Biggest addition let down: Willett 8 year wheated...its decent but not worth the price. Happy New Year!
I agree! Cheers! 🥃
Passed on an 8 year Purple Top wheated for $265 yesterday, first Purple Top I've seen in the wild
Its not worth 265! I bought mind for $220 and its still not really worth it at that price point!
Great shopping! Congrats on those. Got 2 calls in the last week = Van Winkle Family Reserve 13 yr Rye and PHC 16th Double Barreled bourbon at SRP.
Good stuff! 🥃 I appreciate you watching!
TNs a great place to hunt, I scored a weller single barrel and cypb in a walk in raffle for less then 350 combined. Finished out my weller lineup just in time for Christmas :D
I can’t wait to go! Thank you for watching!
Missouri. A lot of shops in the St. Louis area. And you have Nobelton distilling and Barrel king all within a reasonable drive!
That sounds like fun!
Try Nevada and visit the Frey Ranch distillery. For a craft distillery they are killing it.
Ive always liked their stuff!
I was going to nominate Southern California - I had buddies getting Pappys and BTAC at grocery stores for MSRP in the last few weeks! But I absolutely agree with KY. You gotta do a Kentucky trip! Happy New Year man!
Thats insane! Geeesh
The last 13 days of hunting has yielded premier bottles but at premier prices too, I'll just say JD Coy Hill has me cooling off for awhile.
Oh boy! What proof?
That Polo 🔥
Preciate it!!!
Barrel will probably be my next pickup, I’ve been eyeing the cast strength, I just got a JD single barrel select 131.8 proof and I really don’t want to drink anything else now 😂
Its so good! The JD Single Barrels are sleepers!
That Barrel tale of two islands is unreal. Stocking up on that one.
True! Thank you for watching!
Bro, awesome to hear that you're coming to TX! You should come around San Antonio/Austin
Maybeee 🤔
Indiana we have a bunch of distilleries 😂
I’ll look into it!
Good recap. We’re heading to St Aug from NC this week. Any recommendations in where to hunt?
Never hunted up there! Good luck fellow bourbon hunter!
Stunning and brave... Refreshing! so happy to see you put out content other than the "hunt" video!
Btw, are you like 8 feet tall? you towered over that refrigerator! deeeaaam! 😅
You’d never know but I was standing on 3 eagle rare boxes
I’ve been watching you since the beginning of your channel. I just started my channel last month. Do you have any tips or suggestions for a newbie? Keep making the videos, I really enjoy the content! Happy New Year and wishing you even more success in 2024!
Hit me up on Discord and lets talk!
I would state that you need to hit up Tennessee. Reason being, there are three very distinct distribution channels in the state, East, Middle, West. Also the Drops follow the same pattern. Hope ya choose it! Cheers and Happy New Year!
Interesting I had no clue thats the case out there!
Great bottles Hunter! Super awesome!
I think that you should go to New Mexico… it’s a little odd, most people probably wouldn’t suggest this state. But, hear me out. Most of the people in NM are not drinking or hunting for the allocated bottles so they sit on the shelves in Mom and Pop stores in the smaller towns on the outskirts of the bigger cities like Albuquerque. There’s my sell, probably won’t work… 🤣
Noted! Maybeee I will!
High West Prisoner’s Share is such a good bottle. There’s so few bottles we get in Utah, it makes it even better!
Heck yeah! Their new Cask Strength Cabernet finish is very good too!
Let me know when u r coming to texas. Houston specifically. We got a really good total wine with many store picks. Let me know.
Unique top 5.. nice job
Thank you!
Hi from Chattanooga!
Tennnnnasseee!!!
I love the comment “I started this 6 months ago and had no idea what I was doing”. That’s how we were when we started in wine 13+ years ago. Self education is so satisfying and we have learned so much about bourbon in the past 15 months.
You get it! 😂 its a fun journey! Cheers!
Have a safe and wonderful New Year 🎉🎉🎊🎊🥃🥃🥃
Happy new year! 🥃🙌🏼
You can find stuff up here in WA, but everything in the private liquor stores are basically liquor museums prices. But you will find special bottles just not at srp ever...
Kentucky for sure
Adding it to the list!
Come to Kentucky...Home of Bourbon and the 150th Running of the Kentucky Derby. A great reason for a visit
Love your content. I’m a neighbor up north. (NC). I think you need to go KY.
Thank you! I think Kentucky is going to be the 4th state!
Congrats on the Pappy- I’d go to Kentucky and do the Bourbon Trail. Perhaps you can find a cool bottle to give away. I recently got a bottle of Sazerac Corazón Anejo Tequila that was aged in William Larue Weller barrels. Have you tried any of their Expression lineup?
Not yet but ive heard great things so cheers! 🥃
If you get off at the Unicoi exit in Tennessee, there’s only one liquor store. They have some good bottles for sure.
I may just check it out 🥃
Keep doing your thang my boi😅
🤙🏼🥃
I would definitely head to the bourbon capital of the world KENTUCKY. I’m ready for a road trip. Heading your way in September, Geaux Tigers! Hope to see you there.
Im always around! 🥃
Lake Orion, Michigan/ Detroit suburbs like Rodchester hills in Michigan
California at the right time of year has amazing whiskey just sitting on the shelves.
Geeeeesh I may have to go
NY
NY🎉
Florida
Impressed that you started this channel only 6 months ago. Good job bud...keep hunting!
Thank you! Its thanks to all of yall watching and supporting! Thank you! 🥃
Kentucky should be on your list. Start saving up your $
I will start now! 🥃😂
Russell’s 13 and JD 12 were the two bottles this year I overpaid for but still glad I got them!
Heck yeah! Ive been looking for a JD 12 all year!
@@Bourbon_Hunter I had a great year hunting and was able to get, Michters 10 yr bourbon, Makers Cellar Aged, and EH Taylor BP all at retail.
Come to the DMV (DC/Maryland/Virginia) area!
I’ll look into it!
Arizona has some great juice
That may be in the cards for next year!
Florida!
🐊
Should definitely check out Missouri, there’s plenty of good gems out there.
Good to know! 🥃
I’d like to see you come out to the west coast. Your probably have the most luck in SoCal but I’m in Oregon so I vote Oregon!
A south eastern boy in so Cal!?!? Do they even have sweet tea over there?!
Well you’d probably have to look around but my wife’s from Tennessee so I have a better chance of getting proper sweet tea.
Kentucky!!!!
Lots of votes for Kentuckyy
Dah! Kentucky da🤣😜
Its a current front runner
New York, heard they have the most allocations.
I aint used to big cities ima be a fish outa water
@@Bourbon_HunterThere is more to New York that just the city. That is like saying I'm going to SC and only talk about Columbia.
I agree there is definitely more to the state of NY (I'm not a fan of the city myself). Come visit central NY.
Lot B is had on secondary national groups around 7-800 🦌.
It’s only goes up from there from price gougers.
Come to KY
New York.
Never even been to NY I would be so lost
I would check out Michigan. They have an absolutely wild selection and liquor is sold everywhere. I live in Texas and honestly it’s a bit overrated.
Ouh that would be different!
Rochester / Utica / Shelby Twp area alone will blow your mind. Tons of party stores in just the Detroit metro area. Brewzle did a crazy good video on it during pours in the park. I’ve popped into the stores since his video and can say it’s legit and the owners are very cool and will be more than happy to talk bourbon and have pours with you.
If u do Florida do south Florida something Interstate 4 south of that as your border north of that allocated bottles hard to find and heavy mark up
Good to know! Thank you! 🥃
Rural inn in Indianapolis always has a solid 50-75 store picks at all times
I’ll keep that in mind I love a good store pick! Can you try before you buy?
@@Bourbon_Hunter absolutely. Most are open
Your going to like Texas 😎
Hope so!
I just realized how tall you are standing in your kitchen 😂😂 happy new years and happy hunting
I was standing on 3 eagle rare boxes you just didnt know
Kentucky
Noted!
You should go to Indiana for your next Citron haul.
Noted! 🥃
Michigan! I can guide you on stores in the metro Detroit area. Every other corner has a liquor store or store that sells liquor and if you know people, you can get good deals.
That sounds super tempting 🤔
@@Bourbon_Hunterdo you have a Facebook or IG? I can DM you.
Florida!!
Already a few votes for flordia 👀
@@Bourbon_Hunter story time, on how you got the LOT B so cheap hahah!
What was your favorite milk of the year
VEGAS baby! 🎉
I’ll be broke! 👀
Thanks for your video. I had to laugh at your “moment of weakness” comment. I saw your video a few hours after I experienced the exact same thing paying way more than I wanted for the same bottle. Been hunting the Russell’s Reserve 13 Year for almost a year with no luck. My local store got two batch 5’s and put them on the shelf for $299 on Christmas Eve. Same price as the only other one I’d found but it was in a museum store South of Atlanta. I mustered the strength to pass on it. A week later, I popped back in to my local store to scope their New Year’s Eve offerings and got lucky snagging a Weller Antique 107, something I was also hunting with no luck, but needed to spend $100 on other stuff to get their $149 price. What are you gonna do? Suddenly paying $299.99 for the Russell’s 13 seemed bearable. 😂
Very very true. I hope you enjoy! 🥃
Come to the Florida Panhandle bro❤
I love me sone florida!
@@Bourbon_Hunter come on down to Pensacola… I’ll meet up with you, we can go along the coast
When are you coming to Texas?
In the first half of the year!
Got a bottle of Elmer T Lee for you in Souther California.
Don’t tempt my Tater side 😅🥃
Lol
dam i was gonna try to send you to Alaska
I had to think ahead because yall would send me to Alaska!
Ohio is state controlled and has a pretty good website for inventory. Be something to consider!
I’ll check it out!
Go to Missouri!!!
Mizzouuuu
Comifornia
The discord demands you hunt in Hawaii :P
Oh goodness 😅
Indiana
Another vote for Indiana!
