I remember the day David Bowie died. I woke up next to my then-girlfriend. She was a huge David Bowie fan, I was (and still am) a huge Brian Eno fan, and tried to make her discover the latter. Strange how paths meet and diverge, funny how I ended here tonight. Wishing you all a pleasant journey.
Those Bowie/Eno albums were something else. For what it's worth, they were the finest produced and creative works Bowie ever got involved with. Credit to him for allowing Eno, Frip et al the freedom to explore and be so creative. The ads are a DISASTER.
I hear all kinds of things I know are not there. People used to say it was too simple, not enough happening but as someone who makes ambient music, I can tell I have aimed for this standard but it's a high bar to reach, if it is even reachable. I miss David Bowie so much. This is meditative, cool and swirling in pathos.
I have loved the whole album forever and wondered if people ignored the instrumental side because to me it's so fantastic. This extended version first of all is simply slowed down somewhat to stretch the time and then appears to just be looped albeit very well. If it's "official" and can be purchased it would be wonderful to know how to get it.
Good god almighty - This brought back so many lovely memories. Thanks for posting. Are there any credits for the Edited/looped version? I do not think that it's a PaulStretch...It's bloody lovely, though.
I doubt that they could have envisaged that one day people would be listening to this being transmitted from the cloud to a phone and sent to tiny stereo speakers wirelessly... 😜

@paul w paul w Well, any definition of anything is personal and subjective I would argue. Anyhow, I am curious as to what your definition of meditation is and why you think it is the proper one?
@paul w paul w thanks for sharing the video, I appreciate that and I watched it with interest. You know there are actually types of meditation where one doesnt shut out the sense world? Such as the buddhist vipassana meditation, also called insight meditation. Absorption also is important in vipassana, but only up to a certain point.
@paul w well that depends on your definition of absorption (there we go again 😊). In buddhism absorption, in the sense of an experience in which one is completely shut off from sensory input, such as in jhanic meditation, is not the end goal. That is freedom of suffering, or nirwana. And in Theravada buddhism there is actually a lot of discussion about the importance of absorption. Some argue that jhanic meditation which leads to samadhi (absorption) is the most important meditation, others would say satipatthana vipassana. But most would agree that both should be practiced. Some 'heretics' even argue that samadhi is wrongfully translated in English as 'concentration', and that 'composure' would be a better word...
@paul w maybe you are right, maybe not. UA-cam comment section conversations are not the best way to either express oneself or to understand what someone else means exactely. But thanks for sharing your thoughts and insights.
I used to play this track/song every now and then or occasionally on CHRY105.5FM and when I did (during the 2-5 am shows of Altered States), a man would call in and ask me about being a moon child.
Absolutely stunning but weird because here, the original is stretched but not slowed down, so it means the track was reedited ? Anyway... this track along with V2-Schneider are my fav instrumentals from "Heroes".
Is this song somewhere else? Like a different Eno or Bowie record? Recognize the tune but not the cover of record. Maybe I know the shorter version instead of 12 in.
So. There does not exist, in this universe, a more passionate fan of these two dudes - Bowie since 72 (Spiders tour!) and Eno since Airports. However: David Bowie learns one riff on a shimisen and Eno creates a landscape for it? I love these guys - I do not love this piece. Peace out.
@@bensongbenson Right, don't know how I forgot...I guess that was an ideal version of Heroes existing only in my head. Maybe something about somber sax instrumentals and Low ending with Subterraneans...
Are you aloud to use these in our monetised videos without copyright issues as long as we credit you? you're music is so incredible and i'd love to support by adding your sounds into my videos!

try to use some ad blocker to avoid ads...it's free
So far from my experience with ads is when playing the Pogues they played a lucky charms ad before the album played
The best Bowie's era
Agreed. Low and Heroes, sublime.

RIP in Peace, David.
Thanx for all your space 🙏❤️
Bowie and Eno together for an instrumental piece? I'm in heaven. Thank you, this is beautiful!
they did 4 albums together you fucking poser
It's a really good song, isn't it?

Less is more principle
I am thankful for the journey I experience when I listen to this Artwork
Very pleasing to the ear and heart.
Escucho a Bowie y a Eno desde hace más de 40 años y no conocía este trabajo...maravilloso! Mil gracias!
pues es parte del disco Heroes, no es ninguna rareza
This is beautiful. It has time to breathe. This should have been side 2.
Heavenly
Astounding edit
Close to perfection... Japanese tranquillity equal to the beauty of the painting.

But I'm glad it did. It's one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard.
I could meditate to this
@paul w that would depend on your definition of 'meditation'

Very interesting. The track on ‘Heroes’ is approximately 5:00 minutes. Where is this ‘edited’ version from? Thanks for posting!
I'd like to know as well. Can anybody help here?
it sounds like some other editor, maybe the poster, just used an editing software to slow the track down to that amount of time.

Let’s not leave out Tony Visconti’s involvement !

Is this edited from the hour long version ?
omg
Where can I buy this version to keep ?
If you like this then you may well like Rainbow Dome Musick, by Steve Hillage
I'd like to use the sound source for a school fashion show, but would it be a copyright issue?
A moonless night with curlews flying overhead
The synthesizer sounds like the same one Billy Corgan used in Machina

take heart young composers - ordinary music from extraordinary men
King leads hat, Eno the man

#LowHeroesLodger
Thanks, wish Heroes ended with this instead of Neukoln, which is great but too abrasive for a final statement imo
My copy of "Heroes" ends with the sublime "Secret Life of Arabia."
