I really love the budget keyboard videos. It just shows how most of us can actually get a pretty decent mechanical board without having to spend a couple of hundred dollars to get started, as long as we're willing to do a tiny bit of really easy mods. Sure, the more premium customs are great too, but when I watch those vids, it's with the knowledge that I will likely never own that board because it's just going to be out of my budget. These are more of the ones I can actually afford, so thanks, Hipyo!

This keyboard is absolutely awesome. Despite being a plastic board, it's one of the best ones I've felt.
The round borders of the keyboard makes it feel good to the touch compared to those sharp acrylic or metallic border ones.
It feels like a toy in a good way because it's welcoming you to use it and carry it around.
It sounds fantastic. The wireless features are nice to use and feel fun with the light indicators between the arrow keys and fn key. It's good for gaming, even rhythm games play well without any chord split.
No matter what people say... to me, this keyboard is the best purchase of 2023.

This was the first "barebones" I bought (after tearing apart several cheap mechs). I've since bought several barebone kids (both expensive and cheap, like this) and I keep coming back to how much value you get for the price. Is it lightweight and cheap? Does it feel cheaper than it looks? Does the software suck? Yes...across the board...but, as you showed, a little bit of modding and you have a surprisingly good plastic mech. I have 3 with various degrees of modding and they're often the ones I show to people to give them an idea of how cheap you can get into the hobby. Thanks for sharing this...as much as it surely pained you to do so!

You can usually only get the Black or white for $22 on the SuperDeals, I've never seen the other colors below around $35. I've built 4 of these so far and all had some plastic between the PCB and foam which I left after poking hole through. I did have to lube the stabs and one I did the tempest mod but didn't need to as it sounded great without it. With Morandi or Milky Yellows it's quite and deep but with say Cream Blue Pros it's very poppy. Super fun builds for cheap, glad you finally built one out as well.

    • @someonewrites9657

hii, this is my frist time building a custom keyboard and i also used this same exact board. You mentioned that this board had some plastic between the PCB and the foam and i wanted to ask, i was modding my stabilizers and ofc the noobie that i am, it still had some rattle on them. Therefore, I've redone lubing the stabs and wires 4 times but it still had some rattle sound but the more I inspect it and hear it, it sounded like the plastic?? I feel like i'm losing my mind, i am so unsure whether i still messed up modding the stabilizers or it has something to do with the plastic. If its okay i wanted to ask, does the plastic have an effect to that "rattle" like sound i'm hearing after lubing the stabs and wires? If so, is it removable and should i remove it? (i haven't seperated the PCB, foam and all that jazz since i don't have the right screwdriver at the moment)

    • @MarbsMusic
      @MarbsMusic 6 місяців тому

@@someonewrites9657 Hipyo could probably shed more light than I can but I wouldn't think the thin layer of plastic would effect the stabs because it would be below where they are mounted. I guess technically it could but I would guess the rattle is coming from them not fitting tightly. While I haven't had that issue on this board I have had a few others were they just didn't fit snugly and that caused a rattle even if lubed properly. I believe you can get film that will fit in between and help that but I haven't used it. I just bought some better stabilizers I found on sale somewhere.

I've build 2 budget keyboard from AliExpress, one using a Tester68, which wireless-only, uses AAA batteries and doesn't have LED, and one with a Tester84, which is only wired, but has RGB and comes with greased stabilizers, foam and is made partly in aluminium. Once you mod them, they're both great choice, especially the TES84, and I don't see much point in spending hundreds more when I feel like each improvements is so small.
(Shame on me, my main keyboard is still a RK84 Limited Edition with Yellow switches, it feels so smooth and I think it sounds amazing for the price)

I want to make a combination of keys to do an imput, as a layer thing, i know theres some options on the software provided, but i cant figure out how to. The thing is i need one more key, cause iso layout, or spanish keys are a bit tricky to implement without leaving any other key behind. Any help is welcome!

I've built 2 40% boards almost entirely from aliexpress parts (only part i ordered elsewhere where the skyloong glacier rose v1 switches because they are out of stock everywhere) and while I will say that keycap sets can be hit or miss, I've been pretty impressed with the quality of everything else. next is to buy a case and keycaps for my wooting.

just started getting into mechanical keyboards and decided to bought this one as my first one just to test out the waters and see if i'll be patient enough to lube all the switches to make it decent.
Ordered myself KTT Kang White V3 and Gateron Milky Yellow Pro, 2 different keycaps, one xda and one cherry profile, everything should be here within a week so we'll see how it works.
I might ship it to my buddy and order myself some alu kit even tho i prefer creamy/thocky sound and don't plan on going super expensive for my main keyboard next time.
Glad this one is turning out to be a good choice for 1st custom board
