Sorry Laura after reading my post “epic fail” sounded a little harsh😞I didn’t mean it that way!! You are super mom super gardener and sometimes when things even die with you it makes me feel a little better when I kill stuff sometimes it just happens.
Wonderful timing! Just last night I was searching your old videos to see how these Limettas were doing. As a future suggestion - could you do videos focused on just one type of plant? For example, visit all your hydrangeas in one video, and all your roses in another. I love seeing how the different varieties compare. Love your channel - you are so inspiring!
Very satisfying to take care of a spot where your plants aren't thriving. I'm so thankful not to have the soil issue that you're combatting, but then I can't dig a hole in the clay without being on my hands and knees using the claw side of a hammer. Always trade offs :) And how I love hydrangeas. I have so many in my zone 7B gardens, maybe 50, and they never ever disappoint! Keep the hydrangeas coming!!! Love that particular garden of your property.
Absolutely love you show when things don't work out, and when your troubleshooting doesn't fix the problem. There are so many variables in the garden, and this demonstrates it perfectly. I've had some amazing luck with things I didn't expect to work, and some terrible luck with things I thought would do really well. Trial and error teaches so much in the garden.
Thank you for showing us your mistakes, cause basically most of my gardening experience is mistakes, and I would give up. Since I have been watching your videos last summer, I am braving gardening again, and have learned SO MUCH FROM YOU! Thank you! I love your cheerful demeanor, even during gardening adversity. Keep up the good work, bringing plant lovers back to gardening with a little less fear of failure. Cause apparently, failure is part of gardening (just like in life, haha) gotta keep on keepin' on ✊
Thank you for showing us realistic gardening! In the world of social media we are always shown what works, what’s perfect. So it’s nice to see that even the best gardeners have plants that don’t thrive. That really shows us what the mindset of any gardener (and really anybody) should be. If something doesn’t work, figure out why and what could be done differently and try again. Your videos are always refreshing and encouraging!
Laura, yes, learning from you that there are still fails even after years of gardening is liberating as my wife and I continue to learn about flower and vegetable gardening in Zone 6A (Crestwood, KY). What you have also taught us is that gardening is definitely not a 'one and done' type of thing but rather throughout the season you can be adding/moving/changing plants as the weather changes. My wife was convinced she didn't have room to add a 'thriller' to a pot around our pool and I showed her a video of you planting some pots and she quickly saw that our pot could handle another plant or two! Thanks for all you do for the gardening community across the country!
Understanding that all gardeners deal with failure and that it's okay to remove a plant that isn't working out is one of the best lessons that I've learned from your videos. Gardening became easier and happier once I learned this lesson.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! And getting to the point! So many speakers fill their videos with nonsense chatter. You provide the information right away. ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Laura, My daughter, my husband and myself watch your videos every morning with our tea and coffee. Something has been running through my head, that grassy area under the weeping willow tree how about a swing set for Samantha and Benjamin. I think is would be beautiful to look out from the green house and see the kids playing around the tree. Thank you for starting my day with inspiration.
I bought the limetta’s and made a small hedge 2 years ago. You are so right, because half are glorious, and the other half are half the size and just surviving not thriving. Same lightings, planted same day. We had a ice storm here in Oregon this past winter and a tree landed on one, so I’ve had to replace one. Our gardens are all trial and error’s that the beauty of it.

Hi Laura and Aaron! I hope your new hydrangeas do better there. It's really appreciated when you share the fails and then what you do to help insure that the new plants do their best. Thank you so much for sharing!
I chuckled when Laura said not everything works out. Started out 6 years ago with clay flower beds. It took 2 years before I read how to remedy the problem. This is the 3rd different bed of grasses and flowers I'm trying out. I hope to find right combo of soil and plants in another 2 or 3 tries. If not, back to Hostas. :)

Those will be beautiful Laura. The color will be so pretty. I am so bad on not wanting anyone to see where things fail or a part of the garden that needs weeding. I finally did a video and showed the good, the bad and the ugly and it was kind of a relief to realize it doesn’t need to be perfect before I record. ❤️😊❤️
You’ve so much tolerance for amending the soil. I amended acidic soil for 7 years and that was always in the back of my mind as a make or break situation for most of my garden & I did it because I love to garden - “the things we do”💗
I have to say for like the fifth time, Laura, I cannot tell you how much I like the circular area you created in that path. With the piece in the middle, it's one of my very favorite areas of your entire property. I adore the views both ways on that path with the circular area leading to other focal points (one is a statue if facing south, yes??).
Every time I hear you speak of your high pH soil I remember a 'lecture' I attending regarding adding lime to your soil, which allows the plant to better absorb the nutrients already in the soil. The speaker was Ted Stephens of Nurseries Caroliniana (North Augusta, SC). At first I thought a lecture on Lime - UGH - how boring is this gonna be - but it was one of the best I have ever attended - learned a great deal. You may want to reach out to him for some info regarding this matter. I'm certainly no expert but I always like to pass along info or experiences I have encountered along my gardening journey - just as y'all have done thru your videos. I'm excited for this new variety of hydrangea - we, here in the South, just adore our hydrangeas - wouldn't be a southern garden without them !!! Looking forward to seeing this new hedge in all its glory.
Not that I like seeing you have fails in the garden, but now I don’t feel so bad when I plant the same plant just several feet away from each other and one does beautifully and the other dies. Thank you Laura for all your encouragement!
Wow…..Little Lime Punch!!!!!! I cannot wait to be able to plant one of these in my garden next year. High pH definitely makes iron unavailable to the roots of hydrangeas….that’s why hydrangeas prefer a slightly acidic soil so that they could absorb Fe (iron). Chelated iron and Iron tone are soluble in water so continuous applications is necessary. Hopefully these new LL Punch hydrangeas will be able to thrive there….would love to see how they bloom and their colour change. 🪴💚🙏
I love those panicle hydrangeas, hardy, beautiful and easy to take care of them, got bobo, pinky winky, have an old and well established lime light, it’s really great every year. Recommend to everyone 😁

Thanks for your knowledge and techniques Laura and Aaron, can't wait to see the updates!
I really like those new hydrangeas!! I hope they do well there. Seems you and Aaron are going to give them lots of love. I don't want you to have problems but it's good to see that things are not perfect for you either. Our benefit is that you help us fix the problems. For that I'm extremely grateful! ❣
Hope these Hydrangeas thrive with the fixes that you put in place! That is weird that certain places suffer while other places thrive! Crossing my fingers! 🙂🤞🌿
Oh I can't wait to get my hands on the new Little Lime Punch hydrangea. Can't wait to see yours bloom and see how they do in your area. And thank you for showing garden fails along with the wins. It helps us know that every plant and garden do have issues. It's working with and through those issues that make for good gardening.
Over the years, I too had to replace plants that did take. I bought two lilacs last year, the one did great in the front of the house the other didn't do so well. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that struggles with certain plants. Thanks for encouraging all of us gardeners to trouble shoot and try something new.
I notice you post to Facebook and Tiktoc? But those same pictures never show on this your main Channel. I don't trust Facebook for security reasons and Tictoc even less. I just love your family and the information I learn or relearn from you. Your garden pictures are so breathtaking and give me a sense of peace. Just counted up my hydrangeas in my in my front garden the other day and I have 13 different ones, including Limelight, which I adore. I love growing them from cuttings. I picked up 4 massive plants from a commercial grower and they were only $5 each. I live near the city of Rotorua, about 20 South. This is in New Zealand, so we are in Winter now. Its lovely to watch your videos and see all your beautiful plants thriving, while our plants are sleeping. We do have daffodils poking through the soil already, even though our worst weather is still to come. Your videos keep me inspired for next Spring. 😊🌹

Good Morning Laura & Gardening Friends! I was just taking some photos of new blooms on our Hydrangeas, that we planted last season. In our backyard we have good rich soil in one area and then you dig in another & it looks like clay 🤦🏻♀️. So I can relate when Laura shares how you never know how plants will react to different locations. Needless to say, we are learning so much.
I love that you are showing us the raw and real mistakes!! I personally love to see the mishaps. It shows us that everyone has issues when planting. No matter how much you know or get help with, there is that oooops moment we all know.

You’ve so much tolerance for amending the soil. I amended acidic soil for 7 years and that was always in the back of my mind as a make or break situation for most of my garden & I did it because I love to garden - “the things we do”💗
I NNEEEDDDD This Hydrangeas in my LIFE!
Huh? Is this a scam??
Good luck with the new plants! Here's it's trying to find a spot not too hot for the hydrangeas.
I love those panicle hydrangeas, hardy, beautiful and easy to take care of them, got bobo, pinky winky, have an old and well established lime light, it’s really great every year. Recommend to everyone 😁
Laura getting serious with the measuring tape!! This second time around it's going to be perfect! Thanks you for sharing your failures and fixes, It
gives the rest of us a real feel and the confidence to go for it!! Pull it all out and start again! Thanks for your knowledge and techniques Laura and Aaron, can't wait to see the updates!
Can't wait to see these in bloom they're going to be so pretty.
Thanks Laura, it’s so nice to see even experts like yourself can struggle with plants. We learn the most in our failures.
I love that you are so honest and show when things done work out. You are just such a giving soul and so love by all you reach. Thank you Laura. Forgive the ramblings of a old woman, but you do inspire.
So true- same plants perform differently in my garden as well. It’s taken awhile to figure out what works where, but that’s the fun of gardening!
Thank you for sharing your mistakes! As a garden hobbyist who tries her darnest, it is refreshing to be reminded that making mistakes is part of the process! Im sure many people feel that too!
Good morning mdm ❤️🌱
Those plants are going to be beautiful. Love all those colors.
I'm new to gardening and stumbled across your videos a few months ago. I've learned so much so far and was able to identify iron deficiency in two of my shrubs. Thanks so much!
So glad you planted these. We were looking for hydrangeas to plant, and my boyfriend wants red ones. Saw this one and can't wait to be able to get it next year. Did buy the Fire Light paniculata. Can't wait to see this blossom for you. That hedge is going to be beautiful. I have learned so much from watching your videos. Thank you for all you do.
I’m that gardener that would save those less healthy plants and try to save them and replant them elsewhere. As usual, Laura making her space beautiful! Can’t wait to see blooms!!
I agree. I’d try to save them. Move to small container and baby it.
Good points on hydrangeas! They give so much and don’t make a mess. Thanks for sharing!
Hydrangeas are always worth the effort!!!! I found this so encouraging. Can’t wait to see what they look like in full bloom:)
Thank you for sharing that even you have gardening struggles. Always appreciate all that you share and wish you luck in all of your solutions for a beautiful garden
Gardening is one experiment! 😼 There are rules somewhere but nature refuses to give the full details away. Any ‘expert’ needs to be as honest as you 😺
This goes in the books as a favorite! Thank you for sharing the failures. Those hydrangeas are gorgeous!! I have one year to find a spot!
I am so in love with these hydrangeas - now how many can I add - 3 are a must and more would be better. Lol. I have learned so much from you. Thank you for all the good, bad, and fixes Laura style.
Those are gonna be so pretty and the color will make that side pop ..can't wait to see it
I wish we could grow Hydrangeas up in Canada. Love how you explain the challenges you have - and U gave to say - you are educating me so much. Love how you are teaching us about plants and gardening.
It was an encouragement! Good luck with the new ones. It was nice having you tell the spacing as well because I never feel like I can tell on camera how far you are spacing things and it's something I try to take note of.
i lost a bunch of plants over a dry early spring with personal issues distracting me from plant care, seeing you move forward to replace with new, different, and better suited plants is encouraging to see. It reminds me it's ok that some plants literally just dont work out
Good Morning Laura & Gardening Friends!
I new nothing of gardening until I started watching your videos. I feel so educated on it now because you not only talk about plant varieties but you also talk about plant issues, compatibility, starting new garden beds and when to remove things even giving plants, energy and time to your neighbors, family and friends...the list could go on and on. You give me confidence on my gardening knowledge
this!!! my bobos have been struggling for years!!! this is how they look by July every year! onward to find kelated iron!!!!
You have such beautiful hydrangeas in the US. In Australia I've only ever seen blue, pink and white, and never the oakleaf varieties. Very pretty but yours are gorgeous!
Shout out to the editing! Thank you for all your hard work. Love your channel. Super helpful video
Good day GARDEN ANSWER.. wow ..yes show off those new hydrangeas..they are going to look beautiful there & thumbs up for proven winners research !! I'm sure to look for it next year 💜
Love seeing these kinds of videos since they show us that we always learn in gardening and not everything works out! Love your videos!
