Thank you for the first look! I prefer this box over the beginner's box as well. I wanted to see what made this different from the previously-released sets, and you're right: I want to buy this box for the Mechs alone!
The beginners box is horseshit... its way overpriced for whats in it. Get the core game for double the price of the beginners box but with 6 times the value in it.
I know what you mean. Catalyst has announced large products before only to cancel them a little later. Doing that to a Kickstarter would be a while new level for them.
When I opened up my box. I pulled out one Mech and said out loud "That is AWESOME!".... Then I read the mech name.... It was the Awesome.
I would like to imagine that something similar happened about 30 years ago when the Awesome was first given its name.

Yes. There are enough Mech miniatures in the box to get in some fun 1v1 games.

Seeing how far they are above their kickstarter goal they'd really have to excuse to back out on anything.
