Agreed 100 percent. Although I might be biased because it was my first battlefield game it seems as though the graphics were a jump from BFBC2 and it was the first game I had played nonstop to completion.

But for example BFBC2, BF4, BF1 AND even BFH which many people didn't even try, are all amazing games imho. I only really felt that BFV was subpar and BF2042 as of right now it's an OK game. I would love to see Bad Company 3, the only times DICE made single-player games with added multiplayer rather than the other way around and both times they hit the mark. Not only the graphics, but the SOUND DESIGN! When he puts the helmet on you can "hear" how everything muffles and the attention to detail in the whole game are so unbelievably well made, some actual games should be ashamed because of this game...

This is to be expected though, as there are no longer any developers on the DICE team who have worked with previous titles past BF5. The entire team behind sound design is completely different and those who were left after BF1 left the studio once they finished their work on BF5.

Objectively, from a graphical and technological standpoint, just flat out wrong. From an opinionated perspective looking at art direction? Well if you like runway launches yeah this mission is really cool. BF3's whole ambiance was lens flare galore and blue tint though, Bf4 was an improvement and Bf1 probably had the best general art direction. 2042 still has the best general graphics (textures/lighting/particle effects) as much as people don't want to admit it lmao.

_Ace Combat_ will stand as one of my favorite series focused on air combat but this mission truly captures the intensity and stress of a dogfight/air mission fulfilment.

Battlefield 3 is still imo the best game of the saga to this day, better than BF4. I played hundreds of hours in multiplayer. The games were so fun, the dlcs were really worth and changed the dynamic enough to be entertaining but still make it feel different from other shooters. I really miss it and wish we had a good Battlefield today
As a navy vet - that is the most stable ocean going platform I've ever seen. lol. Even in "calm" seas the horizon moves 10x that. Still a classic mission.
So would it still be hard to launch aircraft in that kind of weather? If I recall, a ship that covers more surface area of the sea is more likely to be affected by waves. I'd figured the sheer weight of an Aircraft Carrier (including a modern one) wouldn't be as affected as say a Destroyer would.
@@edust83 No they would be far far away. Some more inaccuracies I noticed below. TL;DR: Its a game, this is a good mission, the pilot did not pass flight school, you are a terrible radar operator, and that SU-27 doesn't have wings anymore. Problems with the plane: 1. The hornet wouldn't be on the catapult without the pilot in it. 2. There should be a heat shield behind the aircraft. 3. The JHMCS HMD (Helmet Mounted Display) is so wrong. 4. When they get shot at from ahead by those two planes (I think their SU-27s) you should be damaged because it shook the camera when the bullets went past which wouldn't happen unless they hit the plane the SU-27 is equipped with a 30mm GSh-301 which would absolutely shred a plane that it hits. 5. Why didn't the radar detect those 2 SU-27s the F/A-18D (I'm just assuming its the D variant because the only other two seater F/A-18 was only ever used as a training aircraft) is capable of doing it so clearly you are a terrible radar operator. 6. This one isn't an issue with the F/A-18D more with the SU-27 at 5:49 it does a cobra maneuver which I have some issues with, the SU-27 can do a cobra but not like that its wings would be gone. 7. The other F/A-18Ds landing gear just disappeared during the carrier launch. Problems with the flying: 1. When you takeoff from the catapult you pull up you don't fly straight. 2. when they were climbing they went at around an 80 degree angle which is a terrible idea I mean sure the hornet can do it but its unnecessarily risky..
The voice acting was crazy good, as the enemy jets are locking onto you, you can hear him nervously gasping and panting for air trying to keep his composure
Is not exactly "trying to make composure". Fighter pilots (or acrobatic pilots) use breathing techniques to minimize the G-Force effects over their bodies. This technique combined with the G-suit effects, manages to keep them awake even on the sharpest turns during a dogfight. You really don't wanna have a G-LOC (Faint) during a situation like this.
This mission had everything that games these days need. That immersion is on another level. It's a suspense builder and it's hard to find a game that does it like this anymore.

It's hilarious that this game is literally a decade old yet is still in many aspects the benchmark for modern cinematic game design. Yes it's on-rails so they get away with certain things they wouldn't have to grapple with in a mission with full control, but even so. The developers should be immensely proud of what they created here. It really makes me sad to think what became of the Battlefield series.
Battlefield 3 and 4 were something truly special. You could just tell that those games were a labor of love. I also appreciate the fact that they ontained zero woke nonsense. I still play BF4 multiplayer. I just keep getting back to it. It's so good in every way. So complete.

@@Pryme. I actually agree, immersion breaks because of the lack of realism. It feels like I'm invulnerable as soon as combat initiates. To be fair, I feel that way with almost all games that have cinematic on rails moments like these, because you know the most developers wouldn't design it in a way where you can easily be killed.

To be fair, I feel that way with almost all games that have cinematic on rails moments like these, because you know the most developers wouldn't design it in a way where you can easily be killed.

when you still cant play a 2014 ish game with constant 144fps in 2022, is just mindblowing.
It's strange to look at this scene today and get the impression these graphics looks so basic while remembering it was one of the most realistic things you saw in a game back then.
This game got me jaw dropped when I first looked at the pre alphas.
you need to get your eyes checked this still looks better than most games in 2022.

@@caiotn1204 bro its called optimisation and stability nearly every game excpet some hard core sims have it implemented some more than others and the reason it loosk "this good" is cos most of it is just a cutscene like a video

Back in 2012 when i played this on my xbox, my father walked into my room and though i was watching a movie....for 2012, this was a masterpiece in game level design, graphics and sound mixing.....when i see kids play valorant, Apex legends and pubg and fortnite etc and say cool graphics, i feel pity and say you haven't seen anything yet....
