This couldn't get any easier! Luckily, I decided years ago that I wanted to make homemade dog treats for my neighbour's furrbabies and bought a 3 piece doggie cookie cutter set, Now, with this easy peasy recipe, I can do it! Thank you so much for sharing!

I’m so glad he loves them! Thank you so much for letting me know you made them and I’m glad you were able to work with the dough better after adding a bit more flour. It is tricky depending on how runny the peanut butter is and how much moisture is in the sweet potato (or pumpkin purée).
My puppies loved this recipe so much they yelled at me the whole time I was making them, and didn't shut up until they got to taste test the dough, eat the scraps, lick the bowl and the baker's hands 10/10 would get yelled at by husky mixes again😊
Hahaha this is adorable! Thank you for making my day! I’m so glad they loved it. Thank you for giving it a try and for giving me the cutest visual of your puppies!
Aww too cute!! I LOVE labs 😍 You’ll have to let me know how he likes them!! My mother-in-laws schnauzer loves the pumpkin option as well as the sweet potato! Thanks again for watching 💛

Awesome! I have a 4 month old goldendoodle and he got sick when he ate a bone stick. I feel that sometimes those store buys are not usually 100% for your puppies. I am so glad I found you. I'm ready to start making some homemade treats for my boy Knox. Thank you 😊

@@TastyThriftyTimely OMG, Kathryn, these came out SO good, heck I even tried a piece of one, not bad, and my pups loved and lapped them up right from the start. Now I give them an afternoon treat of one each day. The money it's saving me from buying doggie cookie treats in the store is wonderful, and the best part is, I know what's going in them, so that's a big bonus! Thanks again for this recipe. It's definitely a keeper in our villa...YEA! 🤗
@@conishkee this is the best! Thank you so much for letting me know they loved them and you’re loving the savings 🎉 I’m glad they are simple enough that you’ll keep making them (especially if you end up snacking on a few too 😜)!!
You’re welcome! I’m so glad they’ve been working well for you! I think I would only leave them out for a couple days just to be sure they don’t turn bad. If you make them really crunchy and dehydrate them quite a bit then they may last a little longer (I still don’t know if I would go past 4 days though). I wouldn’t want a batch to go bad on you but let me know if you push it a bit and what you find.
I have a 13 year old Puggle that I dehydrate duck and chicken feet. We got her as a rescue 7years ago, the vet said she would probably need knee surgery and while waiting for surgery to give her glucosamine capsules. I tried everything to get the capsules in and there was no way. Spit out everyone. I dehydrate tons of stuff so I started with chicken feet then when I can get them duck feet. I also dehydrate chicken liver and chicken hearts for the dog and 2 cats. I would feed them all raw but dehydrated just preserves them. I have to cut the fat off the hearts as they won’t dehydrate as well. I make dog biscuits like these starting with like all cookies bacon fat, mashed yam, shredded cheese and oat flour. I make probably a few hundred at a time, I cook them as hard biscuits, they last longer. I give them out to dogs everywhere. I live in a big city and see a lot of homeless people with dogs and I think they deserve the best treats. My friends at work get bags of treats after every batch.
I’m glad to hear you find the dehydrator helpful for treats. If I end up with an air fryer soon I’ll definitely see how these turn out in there. In the meantime maybe I’ll try the longer oven dehydrating method. Very kind of you to take the time to make treats and gift them (I’m sure all the dogs and humans appreciate it!) 🙂
Human grade dog food!!! Reminds me of when I made chicken and cheese dog biscuits that were a bit bland (hard to believe now as a vegan) and my son and I ate more than the dog. The dog wasn’t impressed.
You can do the same 1/4 cup measurement of applesauce or mashed banana. If your dough is too sticky to roll out you might need a touch more flour but you should be ok to substitute the pb 1 for 1. Let me know how they turn out for you! I’m glad you’re trying them!
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you create these delicious dog treats. I’m so impressed with your video, I’ve and given you a thumbs up too
You could substitute the peanut butter with apple purée (I would just make sure that it is unsweetened and the only ingredient is apples). Using apple purée just decreases the healthy fats the peanut butter gives these treats but they will still work and be a good treat for your pup 😊! I personally would not substitute with coconut oil. It is quite high in saturated fat. It is generally safe for dogs but I would only use 1-2 teaspoons in a treat I think (not the 1/4 cup of the peanut butter measurement). And yes they should bake just fine in an air fryer! I don’t have one unfortunately so I can’t recommend the settings that are best but it should definitely work. Keep me posted and let me know what temp and cooking time worked for you!
Hello! And certainly. Others have used unsweetened applesauce or mashed banana in place of the peanut butter. You could also use another nut or seed butter (like almond or tahini) but stay away from macadamia nuts, pistachios, and walnuts as those can be harmful to dogs. Any ingredient you use as a substitute should be free of any sweeteners or additives as well. I hope this helps and let me know what you try!
The recipe is linked in the description box below the video but I will link it here for you as well (tastythriftytimely.com/3-ingredient-dog-treats-home-made-with-love/) Enjoy!
I’m glad you like them! I haven’t ever tried adding a natural preservative to them. On a quick google search it seems some natural substances like rosemary oil, vitamin E and vitamin C are sometimes added to dog food to extend shelf life but I haven’t tried it and wouldn’t feel comfortable recommending something since I’m not 100% sure it’s safe. Have you added any of these substances before? I usually just freeze most of them and take out a few at a time to store in the fridge.
Great recipe, but not sure where you got the prices? Organic Yams are over 3.00 a pound, natural peanut butter with no additives is over $7.99 for a generic version and rolled oats is $3.99 for 16oz. I made close to 35 big treats and about 40 small ones reward size. Cost me close to $20, not counting time and electric costs. I do have half container of peanut butter left and half of the Oats container. In recap great recipe, but much more expensive than the video suggested
I’m glad you liked the recipe! The cost of my recipes will certainly vary depending on where you live and what ingredients are in season. I use a free online tool called “cookkeepbook” to calculate the cost of my recipes based on the amount of ingredients I use in them. I try to create recipes with limited pantry items so that I’m utilizing the same ingredients in multiple dishes. If you do not have any of these items in your pantry then of course the cost will be more than $1 but I’m glad that you have leftover of the peanut butter and oats to use for other dishes!
The only ingredient listed should be peanut butter so hopefully that’s the case with that one! Xylitol is an artificial sweetener that is toxic to dogs so you want to stay away from that for sure!
@@TastyThriftyTimely 👍 I will read the ingredients. I went through all the brands, they all have carbohydrate plus added sugar except only one brand "Skippy " which doesn't contain Added Sugar.
@@Petlover10000 your skippy might have salt and added oil but it seems like those will be fine for your dog especially considering it is a smaller amount spread through all the treats. I tend to look for labels that say “natural peanut butter”. Usually the only ingredient in those will be the peanuts and you usually have to stir them when you open them because the natural oils rise to the top of the jar. I buy the Kirkland brand natural pb from Costco but I’ve also used the Kraft natural pb.
Blended oats made the flour? Or did you mix the oats with flour before you blended? If so what kind of flour did you use? Just regular white baking flour? We have a lot of dogs in the family and my daughter is wanting to make treats for them. Thank you for sharing!
Yes I just blended oats to make the flour! You can use quick oats or rolled oats and blend them in a spice grinder or food processor. If the dogs are not sensitive to wheat you could also use whole wheat (or wholemeal) flour. White baking flour just doesn’t have much nutritional value so whole wheat or the ground oats will offer more nutrition for the dogs. I hope your daughter has fun making the treats!
I made a batch yesterday with rolled oats and spooned a nice portion and pressed a fork to flatten, my dogs loved them and my Birds and man what a time saver, LoL. Felt weird giving a dog bone to my birds!!
@@donnacasey9641 oh cool I’m glad it worked for you even with the whole oats! Thanks for letting me know. I’m glad everyone liked them 😍 felt weird for me to eat a cookie shaped like a dog bone too 😂 at least I knew exactly what was in it 😜
Oh ya I’ve heard of people using vitamin E but no, unfortunately I’ve never tried adding any preservatives. If your dog likes really crunchy treats you can turn the oven off after the baking time and leave the treats in the oven while it cools down. That will draw out more moisture and I find it helps the treats last longer. I tend to just freeze the treats though and take a few out at a time. I’m sorry I can’t be more help! I have a seed cracker recipe that many people have suggested dehydrating in an air fryer to not expose the seeds to heat… I’m not sure if dehydrating these treats might be an option for you and perhaps a way to avoid high heat?
@@drnimmyprabha yes you can use mashed pumpkin, carrots, or even squash. You could also add in some mashed banana or applesauce. Just make sure that whatever you use is not sweetened and doesn’t have any additives. I hope that helps to give you some ideas of how to adjust these to work for you!
I’m glad they like them! Thank you for trying the recipe 😊 they last well in the fridge for 1 week (only a couple of days on the counter because there are no preservatives). I like to freeze them and then take out what I need for a week and keep those in the fridge. Harder biscuits that have less moisture in them might keep a little longer on the counter than softer biscuits.
Love how natural this is, but he careful about giving your dog or anyone much peanut butter. It's high in oxalates and lectins and can contribute to heart issues and kidney stones. Guessing a bit is fine though! Not everyone is as sensitive as I am 🙏
Yes these are definitely meant to be a treat given in moderation. Especially if these foods are new to anyone’s dog and you’re not sure how they will handle them. Thank you for watching and commenting! 😊
Oh no we don’t want that. If they are fine with any other nut or seed butter like tahini then any of those will work (just avoid macadamia and maybe even cashew). You could stay clear of nuts or seeds by using unsweetened apple sauce or mashed banana instead! Those won’t add many healthy fats that come with the nuts but the treats will still be tasty, full of good stuff, and bake well. (You may need a touch more flour if you find the dough to be a little too wet if using apple sauce for instance). Let me know if you give that a try!!
I’m glad you like them! I like to say that they last for a week in an airtight container in the fridge and up to 2 months in the freezer. Because there’s no preservatives in them I like to suggest freezing them and taking out what you need for a few days at a time.
Yes they will keep well like that in the fridge for about a week. I like to freeze some just to make sure they stay as fresh as possible and then I take out enough for a week at a time and leave them in the fridge 👍🏼
Could these be dehydrated to extend their shelf life? There is a guy that sells these in our town and his package says that his are dehydrated so that they are good for up to a year.
Ooo that’s a great idea! I don’t have a dehydrator but that sounds like it would work. I would think you could even skip the baking and dehydrate them straight away but I’m not sure. It would probably also work to bake them and then pop them in the dehydrator to really crisp them up and remove moisture. Let me know if you end up trying it and how that works out. I’m curious if storing them out of the fridge in this case would be best.
I state the ratios in the video and I have linked to the full recipe in the description. I will copy them here for you as well: -1 cup (104 g )oat flour (or whole wheat flour if your dog is not sensitive to wheat) -1/4 cup (65 g) peanut butter (all natural, ensure the only ingredient is peanuts) -1/2 cup (67 g) cooked sweet potato, mashed* (or unsweetened pumpkin puree)
Yes you should be able to 👍🏼 I know some people have used applesauce so I’m sure banana would work just as well. You may need a touch more oat flour if the dough is too sticky to work with but it should work well. Let me know if you try it!
Oui! C’est possible! I would let them cool in the molds for 10-15 minutes to firm up a little bit. Then just be gentle removing them but you shouldn’t have any trouble. Let me know how it goes!
I get mine from Costco usually it’s the Kirkland brand all natural peanut butter. I tend to notice quite a few “all natural” options at my local grocery stores as well so you can look for the “all natural” label and then just double check the ingredients to make sure only peanuts are listed.
Yes! They can be made soft or hard so for softer treats take them out of the oven after 10-12 minutes 👍🏼 they will stay soft when you store them too. I recommend keeping these in the fridge or freezing them as they don’t have any preservatives and won’t last very long on the counter.
I know others have used applesauce. You won’t be adding the healthy fats that are found in peanut butter but that could work (you may need a touch more oat flour because the applesauce might add more moisture than peanut butter). If your dog eats plain yogurt that could be an option as well. Sunflower seed butter (as long as there are no additives) is dog safe as well if you think you might be able to get away with that one! I hope one of those might work for you!
@@MikaCiupak-el3iu they can be made soft or crunchy depending on how long you bake them for. For crunchy treats I suggest baking them for 15 minutes. If you want them to be really dry and crunchy you can turn off the oven after 15 minutes and leave the treats inside the hot oven as it cools down. That will draw out more moisture and leave the treats really dry. I hope that helps!
They will last well in the fridge for at least a week but I suggest keeping some in the freezer and taking out what you need for a few days at a time to keep them as fresh as possible 👍🏼
Yes you can replace the peanut butter with applesauce or mashed banana if you would like. You could of course use another nut butter like almond butter or a seed butter like tahini (just avoid macadamia nuts, cashews, and pistachios). The peanut butter (or some kind of safe nut or seed butter) is included to give the treats a healthy fats source but you could just replace the amount of peanut butter with more sweet potato if that’s what you were hoping. The treats will be a little more bland but they will still have plenty of fibre and other helpful nutrients. A sprinkle of cinnamon if your dog is not sensitive to it is also a nice addition.
I’ve never tried using the microwave or a skillet myself but I know there are other dog treat recipes out there that give microwave instructions. It seems like if you microwave a few at a time, in a single layer, and on high for around 10 minutes they should get crispy. You could potentially cook them for something like 3 minutes at a time and keep checking them until they feel dry or cook for 5 minutes, flip them if they’re not too hot and cook for another 5? I assume a non-stick skillet would work similarly over a low (or medium low) heat so that the bottoms don’t get too browned before the centre has time to cook. Let me know if you try it and how it works out for you! (Some microwaved dog treat recipes I’ve come across use eggs so these are even safer I would think because the sweet potato is already cooked. You’re really just wanting to cook the oat flour a bit and crisp up the biscuit).
@@richardwood6017 yes to buy everything just for this recipe does cost more but the ingredients in the amounts they are used for this recipe cost much less. If peanut butter and oats are typically part of your pantry then you’re only using a portion of that overall cost and that ingredient will have many more uses for you. I use a free online tool called “cookkeepbook” to determine how much individual recipes cost me and I can plan out which ingredients are most cost effective (it’s a handy tool if you’re interested in budgeting per recipe).
If you follow the recipe link in the description it will take you to my blog. There is a “print recipe” button in the top of the recipe card on the blog 👍🏼
@@GeorgiaShepard-x9g they will only last for a couple days out of the fridge because they don’t have any stabilizers in them. The crunchier and drier you make them the better they will last on the counter because there will be less moisture in them but I just store enough for one week in the fridge and then freeze the rest.
Some other nut and seed butters can be safe for dogs. Almond butter or sunflower butter would probably be the two I would suggest. Make sure they are unsweetened and don’t have any additives. Tahini (sesame butter) also seems to be safe. You may be able to use some carrot, apple, or banana purée if you want to avoid a nut or seed butter. Those purées are just missing the fat component of the butters so the treats may need more oat flour to hold together. I hope this helps a bit and let me know what you end up using.
I’ve never tried it but I would think you can roll the dough out into an even sheet and press it into a mold. Any excess could be scraped off the top and reformed. Let me know if you try it and how the dough cooperates!
Definitely. If your dog can handle other nut butters that are dog friendly (almond or cashew) then you could use those. Seed butters will work too (sunflower or tahini). You could also use a fruit purée like mashed banana or unsweetened apple sauce. Those won’t offer the healthy fats that a nut or seed butter do but the recipe will still work (you might just need a touch more oat flour if the dough is too wet to roll out). I hope that helps!
I don’t unfortunately! I just have a couple of dog treat recipes. What kinds of treats or food would you be looking for? I’ll think about recipe possibilities
Generally plain oats are safe for dogs in moderation as are many other grains. Some dogs do have allergies and sensitivities so it may be best to check with your vet. You can also test out very small amounts of treats like these to start in order to make sure they don’t cause any stomach upset.
I mention the measurements in the video but I have just updated the description below the video with the ingredient list. I’ve included both the US and metric measurements. I hope that helps.
@@SavannahLynn0 I don’t think the shelf life on these is long enough to sell which is why I haven’t sold them myself. There are no preservatives in the recipe so they don’t last well outside the fridge for more than a few days. I find that the safest way to store them is in the fridge or freezer.
I quickly punched this recipe into a free app I have called “Cronometer” and it estimates 21 calories per cookie if the yield is 40 cookies. Protein is 0.8g, 2.1g carbs, and 1g fat 👍🏼

@@owens417 other nut butters that are safe for dogs like almond and cashew can be used or even a seed butter like tahini or sunflower butter (again, as long as there are no sugar or salt additives). Oh I did but you must have missed them at 1:15 into the video. I use 1/2 cup mashed sweet potato and 1/4 cup all natural peanut butter (plus 1 cup oat flour). The recipe is also linked in the description and on our blog you can change the measurements to metric instead of cups in case that is easier for you. The recipe card on our blog converts the measurements to 67 grams mashed sweet potato, 65 grams peanut butter and 104 grams oat flour 👍🏼

@@trishiaking1917 I love the sauce cap as a biscuit cutter 👍🏼 that’s perfect. If your dogs don’t have any digestion issues with wheat flour then your all purpose flour is fine. Oat and almond flours are both safe for dogs and good for dogs that have trouble with wheat but you can definitely use wheat flour.
@@trishiaking1917 yes I think that should be good. Especially while your dogs are just getting used to them you can start out with one or two and make sure they handle them well. I like to suggest only 1 or 2 a day and you can store the rest in the fridge or freezer. Thank you for trying them!
I personally think these are all beneficial foods in a human diet (barring any specific conditions like allergies). They are considered safe and beneficial for dogs as well. What we choose to eat and feed our pets is certainly a personal decision though.
I highly recommend you read Sally K Norton's book, "Toxic Superfoods". She does cite some animal studies in her book. Crystal oxalates being a poison for the body has been known about for centuries. I haven’t tested keeping these on the counter for more than a few days. They keep very well in the fridge for a week so I tend to freeze the big batch and then only take out what I need for a week and keep those in the fridge. If you lay the baked and cooled treats on a baking sheet in a single layer and put that in your freezer for an hour or two the treats will freeze fully and then you can take them off the baking sheet and put them in a freezer bag or container and they stick together. I hope this helps!
Absolutely! If you click on the link to the recipe in the description, it will take you to my blog where you can select that the ingredients be displayed in metric instead of US cups! At the top of the recipe card (just above and to the right of the list of ingredients) you can change the scale of the recipe to 2x or 3x and you can change the “units” from US to M (for metric which will give you the weight). But just in case you have trouble finding it and since there’s only three ingredients 😛 104g oat flour, 65g peanut butter, 67g mashed sweet potato 👍🏼

I’m so glad he loves them! Thank you so much for letting me know you made them and I’m glad you were able to work with the dough better after adding a bit more flour. It is tricky depending on how runny the peanut butter is and how much moisture is in the sweet potato (or pumpkin purée).
My puppies loved this recipe so much they yelled at me the whole time I was making them, and didn't shut up until they got to taste test the dough, eat the scraps, lick the bowl and the baker's hands

Thanks! I make these all the time now! Can you leave them in a mason jar at room temperature? How long would they be good for if not refrigerated?
Very kind of you to take the time to make treats and gift them (I’m sure all the dogs and humans appreciate it!) 🙂
She went to the vet last Friday, very healthy, no need for knee surgery. Glucosamine in the chicken and duck feet have fixed that.

Hello, thank you for your videos! if I am substituting the peanut butter for apple sauce or bananas what is the measurement?
You can do the same 1/4 cup measurement of applesauce or mashed banana. If your dough is too sticky to roll out you might need a touch more flour but you should be ok to substitute the pb 1 for 1. Let me know how they turn out for you! I’m glad you’re trying them!

Can we substitute peanut butter with apple puree or coconut oil? Also will this bake in air fryer? Thanks
Would it be ok to substitute sweet potato puree for carrot puree?
@@RahFurbys absolutely! I’ve heard from others that they have done that and it’s worked well 👍🏼
Hello, can you suggest me other ingredient to switch with peanut butter?

I love this!! What is a natural preservative I can add to extend the shelf life?
Regarding the Peanut Butter, the only one that I found Creamy PB is " NO Added Sugar ". Is this the one I should be using?
The only ingredient listed should be peanut butter so hopefully that’s the case with that one! Xylitol is an artificial sweetener that is toxic to dogs so you want to stay away from that for sure!
@@TastyThriftyTimely 👍 I will read the ingredients. I went through all the brands, they all have carbohydrate plus added sugar except only one brand "Skippy " which doesn't contain Added Sugar.
What brand do you use?
@@Petlover10000 your skippy might have salt and added oil but it seems like those will be fine for your dog especially considering it is a smaller amount spread through all the treats. I tend to look for labels that say “natural peanut butter”. Usually the only ingredient in those will be the peanuts and you usually have to stir them when you open them because the natural oils rise to the top of the jar. I buy the Kirkland brand natural pb from Costco but I’ve also used the Kraft natural pb.
@@TastyThriftyTimely Great. Thank you for your prompt reply.
I did not flour the oats by the way!
@@donnacasey9641 oh cool I’m glad it worked for you even with the whole oats! Thanks for letting me know. I’m glad everyone liked them 😍 felt weird for me to eat a cookie shaped like a dog bone too 😂 at least I knew exactly what was in it 😜
Thanks for this recipe 😊 Do you have any advice concerning food preservative ? I found E-vitamine but it doesn't resist heat so it's useless...
Hi can you please tell me what can I use Instead of sweet potato...
Easy and tasty recipe 😋 absolutely perfect and delicious
Thank you so much 🥰 fun for humans too!!
Just made some dogs love it how long do they last for?
I’m glad they like them! Thank you for trying the recipe 😊 they last well in the fridge for 1 week (only a couple of days on the counter because there are no preservatives). I like to freeze them and then take out what I need for a week and keep those in the fridge. Harder biscuits that have less moisture in them might keep a little longer on the counter than softer biscuits.
What can I use instead of pumpkin?
Mashed sweet potato is a great substitute! Others have told me they have used apple sauce or mashed banana as well. Let me know what you try!
Do you have a recommendation to replace the Peanut Butter, I find that my dogs arthritis flares up every time I give him something with Peanut Butter.
Peanut butter is not good for humans too. Today it contains a lot of afloxins.
very good. thanks🤠

These look great! How long do they last?
I’m glad you like them! I like to say that they last for a week in an airtight container in the fridge and up to 2 months in the freezer. Because there’s no preservatives in them I like to suggest freezing them and taking out what you need for a few days at a time.
@@TastyThriftyTimely thank you!
@@Auberryyy you’re welcome!!
Do you think its okay if i put them in a sandwich bag and put in the fridge
Yes they will keep well like that in the fridge for about a week. I like to freeze some just to make sure they stay as fresh as possible and then I take out enough for a week at a time and leave them in the fridge 👍🏼
👍
Could these be dehydrated to extend their shelf life? There is a guy that sells these in our town and his package says that his are dehydrated so that they are good for up to a year.
Ooo that’s a great idea! I don’t have a dehydrator but that sounds like it would work. I would think you could even skip the baking and dehydrate them straight away but I’m not sure. It would probably also work to bake them and then pop them in the dehydrator to really crisp them up and remove moisture. Let me know if you end up trying it and how that works out. I’m curious if storing them out of the fridge in this case would be best.
thank you 😮
You’re welcome!!!
What are the ratio s ??
I state the ratios in the video and I have linked to the full recipe in the description. I will copy them here for you as well:
-1 cup (104 g )oat flour (or whole wheat flour if your dog is not sensitive to wheat)
-1/4 cup (65 g) peanut butter (all natural, ensure the only ingredient is peanuts)
-1/2 cup (67 g) cooked sweet potato, mashed* (or unsweetened pumpkin puree)
can i substitute the peanut butter for banana or something else ?
Yes you should be able to 👍🏼 I know some people have used applesauce so I’m sure banana would work just as well. You may need a touch more oat flour if the dough is too sticky to work with but it should work well. Let me know if you try it!
C'est possible d'utiliser des moule en silicone?
Oui! C’est possible! I would let them cool in the molds for 10-15 minutes to firm up a little bit. Then just be gentle removing them but you shouldn’t have any trouble. Let me know how it goes!
Can you dehydrate these?
I would think you can. I’ve never tried it myself but I don’t see why that wouldn’t work 👍🏼 let me know if you try it!
Hi, where did u buy the 100% peanut?
I get mine from Costco usually it’s the Kirkland brand all natural peanut butter. I tend to notice quite a few “all natural” options at my local grocery stores as well so you can look for the “all natural” label and then just double check the ingredients to make sure only peanuts are listed.
Can I use butternut squash instead of sweet potato?
Yes absolutely! Even puréed carrot will work too 👍🏼
My old little dog cannot eat anything too hard or crunchy. Are these soft?
Yes! They can be made soft or hard so for softer treats take them out of the oven after 10-12 minutes 👍🏼 they will stay soft when you store them too. I recommend keeping these in the fridge or freezing them as they don’t have any preservatives and won’t last very long on the counter.
What can i use instead of oats as i dint want tearring of the gut?
You can use whole wheat flour if your dog is not sensitive to wheat!
My dog doesn't like peanut butter any suggestions for an alternative ingredient?
I know others have used applesauce. You won’t be adding the healthy fats that are found in peanut butter but that could work (you may need a touch more oat flour because the applesauce might add more moisture than peanut butter). If your dog eats plain yogurt that could be an option as well. Sunflower seed butter (as long as there are no additives) is dog safe as well if you think you might be able to get away with that one! I hope one of those might work for you!
Is it crunchy?
@@MikaCiupak-el3iu they can be made soft or crunchy depending on how long you bake them for. For crunchy treats I suggest baking them for 15 minutes. If you want them to be really dry and crunchy you can turn off the oven after 15 minutes and leave the treats inside the hot oven as it cools down. That will draw out more moisture and leave the treats really dry. I hope that helps!

HI how long will these treats last
They will last well in the fridge for at least a week but I suggest keeping some in the freezer and taking out what you need for a few days at a time to keep them as fresh as possible 👍🏼
Can i make without peanut butter?
👍

Can I use a microwave or a skillet instead of the oven?
Looks good! Today the ingredients are over 10.00.
Where can I print this recipe?
If you follow the recipe link in the description it will take you to my blog. There is a “print recipe” button in the top of the recipe card on the blog 👍🏼
Do the treats need to be refrigerated?
@@GeorgiaShepard-x9g they will only last for a couple days out of the fridge because they don’t have any stabilizers in them. The crunchier and drier you make them the better they will last on the counter because there will be less moisture in them but I just store enough for one week in the fridge and then freeze the rest.
Any substitute for peanut butter?
Some other nut and seed butters can be safe for dogs. Almond butter or sunflower butter would probably be the two I would suggest. Make sure they are unsweetened and don’t have any additives. Tahini (sesame butter) also seems to be safe. You may be able to use some carrot, apple, or banana purée if you want to avoid a nut or seed butter. Those purées are just missing the fat component of the butters so the treats may need more oat flour to hold together. I hope this helps a bit and let me know what you end up using.

my dogs allergic to Peanuts, anything else I could use besides peanut butter?

Are oats safe for dogs? I thought grains are not good for dogs.
Generally plain oats are safe for dogs in moderation as are many other grains. Some dogs do have allergies and sensitivities so it may be best to check with your vet. You can also test out very small amounts of treats like these to start in order to make sure they don’t cause any stomach upset.
What about the measurement of those ingredients?

Can I have them long enough to sell or will they go bad?
@@SavannahLynn0 I don’t think the shelf life on these is long enough to sell which is why I haven’t sold them myself. There are no preservatives in the recipe so they don’t last well outside the fridge for more than a few days. I find that the safest way to store them is in the fridge or freezer.

Hehe! Do you have any pets?
Oats, Sweet Potato and Peanuts are very high in oxalates that are a cause in many human diseases now found in dogs.
But the docs focused on kidney stones. Our vet has even posted an article on his website and how oxalates are found in the dogs urine. He's even provided pics. If you lay the baked and cooled treats on a baking sheet in a single layer and put that in your freezer for an hour or two the treats will freeze fully and then you can take them off the baking sheet and put them in a freezer bag or container and they stick together. I hope this helps!
Please can you give me the recipe with the weight for every product
