Thanks for uploading. Back in the days when the big fights were free to view. Proper fight with no title at stake…….. not like the farce boxing has become today. Kaylor was always the boss. Even when on receiving end of the two knockdowns, he still looked too strong for Christie.
I went to this fight. Just being there was scary. This was a real grudge match. They previously had a fight in the street. The atmosphere was unbelievable. Kaylor was a true warrior.
I seem to recall these two guesting on a radio show a while back (maybe talksport?) and both men spoke warmly to each other, Mark was keen to let everyone know that there was no racial undertones or motivation behind the bout or the street brawl. The mutual respect between them was touching to hear and a suitable epitaph to the riveting encounter that this episode was.
One of the great fights of the decade, without a doubt. I never got caught up in the Christie hype, even before the Seys defeat, but I came away with respect for him after this loss. His courage was something to see; from the 3rd row back, after round 4, we could hear the thud of Marks punches landing, but there was nothing on Errol's, he was flat tired, and he still kept going, even after he must have known he was in over his head. Well done to both lads, best Bonfire Night ever ❤
Remember this so well, the build up and the fight, you can’t beat a good grudge match, and they always thankfully end with great respect for each other. R.I.P Errol Christie.🙏🥊
It's 😂so funny dozens of comments from people who say they were there or remember it like yesterday......but not one person recalls mark dropping Errol immediately and Errol not being given a standing count
Hold on 😮 Errol got clipped with a flush right on his jaw , was dropped , !!! Then barely able to stand up with spaghetti legs , holds onto the ropes and the ref just pulls his hand off the ropes and says go on continue 🙄, er what happened to the count for being dropped with a punch, ??? Coz it wasn't a slip,
Proper 80’s British tear up, two great fighters. RIP Errol.
The best fight ive ever seen, two real warriors. watched it live all those years ago. Damm its still as good this time round.

How that lasted as long as it did was unbelievable, a proper tear up

Kaylor is one of my local boxing gym's coaches
Ask him if he knows and remembers Joey Frost Liverpool
1980 Olympic boxing team
Was this fight on a Wednesday night ? Or was it just replayed on sportsnight? I'm sure I remember watching it as a kid on sportsnight but cud be wrong
Tuesday , shown next night
West ham v Millwall
Miiiiiiiiiiiii
26.49 why did Christie nod to his corner when he was down please?
Letting his corner know he knew where he was
In 2024 he would have had to send an email.
29:27 - What a shady, dodgy character - a perfect boxing manager:) And the hairstyle!
Totally forgot Hammer Kaylor won this, I'm an old git LOL
Hes one of my coaches at my local boxing gym
I did too but what a fight! A precursor to Eubank and Benn’s first encounter.
Errol never really recovered after the big punches near the end of the 3rd
