    I really adore these 'little loco' series. Though I'm not in the hobby any more, Ive a fond place in my heartbox for model railways.

    I have recently purchased a Dapol pannier tank engine in O gauge and just love it. I got it shipped to me from Hattons in the UK to here in the US. Love these videos Lawrie keep them coming! 🚂

    I always have a soft spot for Jintys
    My first proper model (not a Hornby 0-4-0) was a Bachmann Jinty from my grandfather, since I don’t have a very large railway for it to run on, it now acts as station pilot for Valentine St. on my grandfather’s railway. Brilliant model in OO gauge let alone in O gauge!
    Brilliant video as usual!

    What a loveley engine, also nothing wrong with a small layout. shunting allows for a lot of play and variations to do. Although since Its a very small layout you could use a very small engine. I would reccomend for the size of the layout the Dapol O gauge 0-4-0 Sentinal shunter so you could get much more on to the layout. very good video as always!

      Lawrie's Mechanical Marvels and the guy called Sam’s trains on UA-cam is pretty good too with the OO and O gauge stuff. As a model railroader/ railway the o gauge stuff is amazing and looks to run like a dream. Keep up the great work I really enjoy you all’s content.

    British O is such a different flavor to US O but it is so satisfying to watch!
    The Jinty looks great, a very solidly big shunter for such a layout - The size contrast is much better appreciated in this scale

    Laurie, I enjoy your "Little Loco" videos as much as the others that you do. I have a 12'-6" x 2', "0" gauge shunting, "Preservation" layout. As beautiful as you think your "Jinty" is, I would still complain about the missing handrail. You have paid for it and it will finish the loco off. Alan

    Was the smokebox door handrail loose in the box or just missing altogether? Either way, for the price of these new models, a little bit of QC from Dapol wouldn't go amiss. Still, it is a stunning model. Hope you have many happy hours shunting with it.

    All nine Dapol o guage models I have bought recently had faults of varying degrees from broken parts, missing parts, loose and/or popped out windows right up to a driving wheel completely off of the axle on the 57XX. Being a long term modeller and engineer I undertook to sort the problems out myself rather than. return the items for replacements especially as a few of them were sale items and replacements weren't available.
    I suppose I am undermining my argument by not returning the items and therefore alerting Dapol to there rather lax QA department.
    I will purchase further items from the Dapol o gauge range as they are simply the only game in town with some ready to run locos at a reasonable price range. It's just that I know there will be things for me to fix when they are delivered. Perhaps I've just been unlucky but nine out of nine? 🤔

    Silly question, could you do a video on some of the differences between A4, 3F, and any other numbers? Or Class numbers? :-)
    I do like these Lawrie Goes A Little Loco's! I never had a model railway, but I was always more into cars, and lorries anyway! :-)
    Stay safe! :-)

    • @bavarianbanshee
      @bavarianbanshee 4 роки тому +2

      Don't know if this will help at all, but here it goes. :)
      In the case of the A4, that's just the name of its class, like the LMS 1000, the LNER B12, or the USATC S160. Basically; what all members of that class are known as.
      When it comes to 0F through 9F and 0P through 8P, those are power classifications. F and P representing "Freight" and "Passenger", with 0 being the least powerful, and 8/9 being the most powerful.
      Sometimes locomotives were named after their power classification, like the magnificent S&DJR 7F, the LMS 4F, or the LMS 3F "Jinty" seen here.

    • @stevebarnes2
      @stevebarnes2 4 роки тому +1

      They're completely different forms of classification.

    Nice model. Was that on pure DC or pulsed? Surely a DCC decoder would allow even slower speed. And with sound, it would be even better (especially on small layout)

    • @lmm
      @lmm  4 роки тому

      Pure DC. I've not dabbled in DCC yet

    • @pbyfr
      @pbyfr 4 роки тому

      @@lmm Pure DC isn't always that good. I have recently corrected my heskethscalemodels O&K MD2 in Oe16.5, and the small Mashima motor didn't turn alone below 3 V, with the transmission, it wasn't really working below 6V, which was already a good speed even with the big transmission. But with the DCC decoder, it crawl very slowly.

    Hi Lawrie. I have been following your channel for some time and enjoy it. But this series has me beat. As soon as you start dabbling with toy trains, you start to use the railway modellers favorite word "Prototypical". They all do it, and it drives me crazy. In this episode, you actually say "STEREOTYPICAL". What kind of f@cking word is that? If you look up the word "Prototypical" in a dictionary, it says that it "Represents the earliest iteration" of a particular object. But all of the toy train enthusiasts bandy it around as representing the subject throughout its existance. It's getting so I can't even hear the word "Prototype" without shuddering and wondering what is going to be tacked on the end. For Christ's sake stop using that word! It's wrong! I'm off to get some medication, and in the interests of full disclosure, I have disliked this video. Cheers!
