Hey. One note here: the 32Mb flash memory is most probably for program data for the MCU only. Other than that there is no internal flash memory, so it's likely that the camera cannot store any footage internally AT ALL.
This was a fantastic video, thanks so much for all the detail you included. I think you've not only given me a few really interesting ideas for Adurino projects but plenty of info to have some confidence to get going. What a great channel, thank you for all your hard work and efforts..
32M Flash is the ARM processor program memory. There is no local storage of images at all here. All goes out over the network connection. Interesting they used a real bearing for the swivel axis and not for the other. Those steppers are very cheap, as they are used in aircon indoor units as well as many other places where a low cost easy to drive slow rate motor is needed.
Yeah. I'm sure I was wrong about that. You couldn't get much footage on that anyway. Made an annotation in the video about that. And "Yes" it's weird that this cheapo has an actual bearing!
The camera runs linux, somewhere on the pcb is the serial. To get a jpeg picture from the camera: in your html file: x.x.x.x/snapshot.cgi?user=admin&pwd=admin snapshot.cgi description To obtain the snapshot Permission visitor Syntax /snapshot.cgi[?user=&pwd=&next_url=] Parameters user:username pwd:password next_url:the name of snapshot Note 1 If not use the parameter “next_url”, the snapshot name is:device id(Alias)_ Current time.jpg i control my camera with a self made vb6 program.
I'd like to see you connect the GND, RX and TX lines to a serial port and power up the camera to see if there's anything interesting there. I found some on a digital TV decoder box and was able to access a Linux shell and look around inside the OS.
I've done a teardown of these before. Surprisingly enough the camera board and wifi module are USB based and can be plugged into a PC if your connections are correct.
That camera is like a little robot. It is amazing cheap devices like that are sold today. It would be cool to mount one on an RC car so you have a rover security unit.
Did you do the music on the fast disassembly sequence? Serial port is nicely labelled on the main board... good for hardware hacking: ARM processor, plenty of RAM... would love to get into that serial-port.
good stuff you always keep my attention, you're way over my head with this stuff, but for some reason that doesn't matter. And yes I am a Patron . Cheers
Interesting, yet as with most of today's electronics so disposable within a few short years.Great you did a ' headcount ' on the camera pixel rating ! lol
Very well done. You seemingly understand this stuff. I was repairing a Wansview ipCam and part of your video was helpful. Do you do circuit designs? Maybe we can make a robot together. Will link up on my next visit to Frankfort.
Great video, a fascinating and detailed teardown. That package from Switzerland, they're cuckoo clocks with radiation mutated killer cuckoos. Am I right? Either that or a sample of the newest element, tobleronium.
might buying a 12$ ip cam just to gut it stick a webcam in it and control the steppers with a arduions + bluetooth+ python for streaming .... hmm... cheaper then building a homemade pan/tilt setup
The thing I never understood about security cameras is why do the manufacturers "ring" the lens with IR LEDs? It would be better to supply some small IR lights that can be place in strategic locations to get a good view of anybody coming close to the camera.
What's the point of lighting something or someone up from the side? The picture would be full of shadows that make thing harder to see. Also it would be much more expensive to build something external with case, wire and connectors.
Thanks for the security videos I am just about to start setting up video etc and I do not know ANYTHING about it other than I do not have a lot of money so I can not afford to buy useless cameras etc,... so far I am guessing i will need about 8 cameras at least 6 Robert in niagara falls

You are a super professional. Go into details and know and explain everything. There are almost no more people like you.

i rather like these step by step/part by part electronics videos, reminds me of the early eev and connor wolf videos. i hope you make more of these :)
ob du etwas erklärst, auseinandernimmst oder am basteln bist, coole videos. gerne öfter, länger und mehr :D
i watched it to the very end and it was well worth it, many thanks

to give a reference to one of my favorite movies:
"Whats in the box !?!?!"
Toss a coin to find out -- odds are 50:50 it's a head.
Bin schon gespannt auf den Inhalt der Kiste:-)LG Berrit

Cool breakdown. I will be a patreon soon.
Very helpful video. thanks
I have been inside a house like yours and it too was very beautiful.

Like the Diy music, but could be lowered to match the voice over volume.
that guy in the grey hoody, i wouldn't trust him!
Psssh, he is German. So you are right.
Or he could be Trayvon Martin reincarnated would trust him any way.

i would like the use the raspberry pi 3 and a pan tilt IP camera as a robot project. what do you think? thanks.
nice music at 3:27
Nice work! Thanks.
I like your acappella starting at 3:27... ;-)
I don't know if I should love or hate the music.
I am in the 10% remain, sir ;-) subscribed!

Great video

For the pan/tilt i guess its obvious, for the fixed cams there are separate modules with high power IR leds+lens you can buy.
PLEASE DO NOT SHOW YOUR UPGRADED SECURITY ON VIDEO, YOU NEVER KNOW WHOS WATCHING LOCALLY.
Too late, I've already broken in and stolen his sizeable cache of schnitzel.
mmm schnitzel...
I wish I could afford to patreon this channel, it's really good stuff ...
hello
thank you for your excellent explanations

thanks for sharing man.
Ooh! Does the package contain the flux capacitor and fuel for the DeLorean? Please say yes!
