    Band: Faun
    Song: Arcadia
    Album: Eden
    Genre: Pagan/Folk
    Picture:
    Mystic Woods by Domi-nica (domi-nica.devia...)
    Lyrics:
    Laske juoni juoksemahan
    Virka vippelehtämähän
    Kullaista kujoa myöten
    Hopiaista tietä myöten
    Jost'on sillat silkin pantu
    Sillat sillkin, suot sametin
    Veralla vetelät paikat
    Pahat paikat palttinalla
    Metsän ukko halliparta
    Metsän kultainen kuningas
    Ava nyt aittasi avara
    Luinen lukko lonkahuta
    Ukko kultainen kunningas
    Hopiainen hallitsija
    Anna mulle ainojasi
    Kanna mulle kaunojasi
    Kullassa kulisevia
    Hopiassa helkkävia
    Aja vilja vieremille
    Aukeimmille ahoille
    Minun metsipäivinäni
    Erän etsiaikoinani
Blow some trumpet loud and free
    Leave the hills of Arcady
    Give thine oaten pipe away
    Leave the hills of Arcady
    Once the land of liberty
    Land of ancient chivalry
Blow some trumpet loud and free
    Leave the hills of Arcady
    (Translation by Erkilmarl:)
Let the line of forest animals run free,
Let the line of forest animals run free
    Along the golden alley
    Along the silver road
Where the bridges are made of silk
Bridges of silver, bogs of velvet
With broad cloth the wet places
    Bad places with linen.
The old man of the forest, graybearded
The golden king of the forest
    Open your wide storehouse
    Open your bony lock
The old man, the golden king
    The silvery ruler
    Give me your only(??)
    Carry me your beauties
    Jingling in gold
    Jingling in silver
Drive the flock to the slope
    To the open clearings
    During my forest days
    My backwoods time of visitation.

A band from Germany sings a song in Finnish and English about a place in Greece accompanied by musical instruments from all over the world.

To everybody arguing about their pronunciation of Finnish:It's a song, and they're German. They also sing in English, and, as a native English speaker, their pronunciation of English is a little odd. However, it doesn't matter. It's a song. Nobody pronounces words perfectly, even in their native tongue, and they're speaking a foreign language. Give them a break and enjoy the music, which is excellent and beautiful regardless of their Finnish skills. As a person that doesn't speak Finnish at all, it sounds like gibberish to me, but I still love the song. Actually, everything they sing sounds like gibberish to me, unless it's in English, but I still love a large amount of their music.
    Shut up and enjoy it.

Well, I'm Finnish and I understand everything. They really pronounce it very well compared that they dont speak it as native language. It is written in "kalevalamitta" (Karelian style of poetry) and it makes it hard to understand to some finns even if speaker is native. So, dont argue about it, just relax and enjoy the music.
Here are lyrics for you :)

I don't understand it but I still love it, maybe I should look into learning Finnish, is it an easy language to learn or is it more on the difficult side? Only other languages I've ever tried to learn are Spanish which was easy but I forgot almost every word since I took it ages ago, and American Sign Language which was also not that hard since it's just hand gestures and facial expressions.

    dear finnish friends,
please disregard those who tell you should be ashamed because you dont understand a single word. i'm from turkey and i also dont get a single word. so what? the language of art is universal; the feelings awaken by the composition are essential. it means we speak same language when we share same feelings while listening to music.
kind regards to art loving human being of the universe.

Arcadia is the "birthplace" of god Pan, the greek equivalent of the roman god Faun. It is in Central Pelloponese, Greece. Strange stories surround the place.. If you are interested check out what the geographer Pausanias wrote about this place and its people back then.

Well, I'm very happy and excited to have found this song. I love Faun, and I just found out they've done a song with finnish lyrics. It's as close it can get to estonian :D I just hope that maybe one day they'll use something from the estonian folklore and use it their song, since they have already used hungarian and now finnish :)
And yes, since finnish is not singers motherlanguage, the pronounciation isn't that good, but neither is it absolutely non-understandable. Not that my own is better..

Do you know (or some1 else) more of bands like Omnia and Faun which is singing about Nature and Earth? Faun has great songs but little hard to understend.
Can you recommend me some groups? :)

Env3re I like Cave Growl, they are pagan folk band just like Omnia, not that im saying they have similar style of writing, but just a thing i listen sometimes. Also try Dunkelschön, they play medival music or try Elane they are more on the dark side, but amazing to just listen and relax to. Hope i helped!

LOL, some nitpicking on the language...Don't understand any song they've sung in languages other than English, but the beauty of their songs is the haunting melodies and their beautiful voices. I've only ever listened to Egil Saga, and now I've added quite a few more to my Pagan list! Beautiful sound, no matter what language it is!

These are the first two verses of an actual prayer for Tapio, written down by K. A. Gottlund in Juva, near present-day Savonlinna in year 1816. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? :)

Yep. It's pretty common, almost expected really, for paganfolk groups to use multiple languages, particularly ancient ones, like Celt and Gaelic. Paganfolk music draws on many cultures' folklore and mythology for sound and lyrical content. It's only fitting that the languages the lyrics are written in are just as diverse as the rest of the material's aspects.

It's so easy to recognize fin written..But overall, the sense is northern, what insipre long cold desolated lands life as, where contacts human-nature are archaic, so ancestral-primordial (may be more for norvegian nature). The song suggest deep thought and sense on natural forest land.. So i wrote my songs on, yet, ( i stayed visiting that land, and undirectly by letters for many years..). Now, i uploaded on YT, only -The Aurora-, but others (-The Dawn Will Come- as best), i 'll not publisher.
