Lyrics:
Laske juoni juoksemahan
Virka vippelehtämähän
Kullaista kujoa myöten
Hopiaista tietä myöten
Jost'on sillat silkin pantu
Sillat sillkin, suot sametin
Veralla vetelät paikat
Pahat paikat palttinalla
Metsän ukko halliparta
Metsän kultainen kuningas
Ava nyt aittasi avara
Luinen lukko lonkahuta
Ukko kultainen kunningas
Hopiainen hallitsija
Anna mulle ainojasi
Kanna mulle kaunojasi
Kullassa kulisevia
Hopiassa helkkävia
Aja vilja vieremille
Aukeimmille ahoille
Minun metsipäivinäni
Erän etsiaikoinani
Blow some trumpet loud and free
Leave the hills of Arcady
Give thine oaten pipe away
Leave the hills of Arcady
Once the land of liberty
Land of ancient chivalry
Blow some trumpet loud and free
Leave the hills of Arcady
(Translation by Erkilmarl:)
Let the line of forest animals run free,
Let the line of forest animals run free
Along the golden alley
Along the silver road
Where the bridges are made of silk
Bridges of silver, bogs of velvet
With broad cloth the wet places
Bad places with linen.
The old man of the forest, graybearded
The golden king of the forest
Open your wide storehouse
Open your bony lock
The old man, the golden king
The silvery ruler
Give me your only(??)
Carry me your beauties
Jingling in gold
Jingling in silver
Drive the flock to the slope
To the open clearings
During my forest days
My backwoods time of visitation.

A band from Germany sings a song in Finnish and English about a place in Greece accompanied by musical instruments from all over the world.
To everybody arguing about their pronunciation of Finnish:It's a song, and they're German. They also sing in English, and, as a native English speaker, their pronunciation of English is a little odd. However, it doesn't matter. It's a song. Nobody pronounces words perfectly, even in their native tongue, and they're speaking a foreign language. Give them a break and enjoy the music, which is excellent and beautiful regardless of their Finnish skills. As a person that doesn't speak Finnish at all, it sounds like gibberish to me, but I still love the song. Actually, everything they sing sounds like gibberish to me, unless it's in English, but I still love a large amount of their music.
Shut up and enjoy it.
Well, I'm Finnish and I understand everything. They really pronounce it very well compared that they dont speak it as native language. It is written in "kalevalamitta" (Karelian style of poetry) and it makes it hard to understand to some finns even if speaker is native. So, dont argue about it, just relax and enjoy the music.
Here are lyrics for you :)
Laske juoni juoksemahan,
Virka vippelehtämähän,
Kullaista kujoa myöten,
Hopiaista tietä myöten,
Jost`on sillat silkin pantu,
Sillat silkin, suot sametin,
Veralla vetelät paikat,
Pahat paikat palttinalla!
Metsän ukko halliparta,
Metsän kultainen kuningas,
Ava nyt aittasi avara,
Luinen lukko lonkahuta!
Ukko kultainen kuningas,
Hopiainen hallitsija,
Anna mulle ainojasi,
Kanna mulle kaunojasi,
Kullassa kulisevia,
Hopiassa helkkävia!
Aja vilja vieremille,
Aukeimmille ahoille,
Minun metsipäivinäni,
Erän etsiaikoinani!
Just to make sure I'm correct. That's the same style as written in The Kalevala yes? If so that's pretty cool!!
michael incorvaia Yes, "kalevalamitta" means the style Kalevala is written in. :)
Juurikin näin, olin itse sanomassa samaa, mutta nyt ei tarvitse kun teit sen puolestani c:
This an awesome song
I don't understand it but I still love it, maybe I should look into learning Finnish, is it an easy language to learn or is it more on the difficult side? Only other languages I've ever tried to learn are Spanish which was easy but I forgot almost every word since I took it ages ago, and American Sign Language which was also not that hard since it's just hand gestures and facial expressions.
Thank you so much (or should have said "kiitos!") for explaining and providing the lyrics! :-D
i am Finnish yes, and i cannot understand my fellow countrymen who mock how they sound. you guys should be delighted that our language is used in a song that is not from Finland. song is amazing!
5th gen canadian finn,and I say yes.
The language is universal .... the language of music! and it is utterly beautiful.
Which language is it? Estonian? It's fascinating 😍
@@KordisepsCK It's Finnish
dear finnish friends,
please disregard those who tell you should be ashamed because you dont understand a single word. i'm from turkey and i also dont get a single word. so what? the language of art is universal; the feelings awaken by the composition are essential. it means we speak same language when we share same feelings while listening to music.
kind regards to art loving human being of the universe.
A lovely sentiment, beautifully said! xx
Why would I be ashamed that I don't understand some Germans butchering my language lol? They're singing with a heavy accent and obviously don't understand Finnish themselves.
@@NegativeMass85 tx
Wish harmony for this world, with this harmony music .
@@vaahtobileet ? It's not like they are mocking it. They probably chose finnish cause they liked it and now they are trying their best to use it.
Very quick translation: Old man of the forest, golden king of the forest,
open your wide storehouse, open the bony lock. It's from Kanteletar, collection of Finnish folk poetry compiled by Elias Lönnrot.
i am losing my mind, really. IT IS THE BEST THING ON EARTH...
This is the language of music..........................everybody understands it.
Arcadia is the "birthplace" of god Pan, the greek equivalent of the roman god Faun. It is in Central Pelloponese, Greece. Strange stories surround the place.. If you are interested check out what the geographer Pausanias wrote about this place and its people back then.
+AbbeyRoadResident This Arcadia is not meant. ET IN ARCADIA EGO as Goethe says - VERITAS CADARIA.
What does veritas cadaria mean?
Strange stories surround the place!? :O
(I grew up in two small towns in modern Arcadia prefecture, Astros and Leonidio.)
selten eine gruppe gesehen und gehört die so vielseitig sind..... sie gehören mit zu den besten der besten...... weiter so
I nominate Faun Eden for Album of the Century.

Finnish language
Greetings from Greece, I love this music. I wanna visit ur country some day
Solid, very talented;there is warmness in her voice.
I'm ethnic Swedish from Finland and I like it. It's a bit middle age ballads with a twitch
oh man.. I came here from Savatage.. video to video.. until I find this precious piece of music :))) Hail from Brazil!!
Just a 'colonist' from across the pond and I'm hooked. Found this band 'Faun' tonight, piggy-backing around... what a delight to listen to! What a gift to find tonight! Brightest Blessings! Good Yule!
Ohh man... This got me crying for no reason, it's just so damn beautiful...
I love this song and play it often at work (with headphones on.) More than once have my coworkers looked at me strangely, and I realized I was bellowing the chorus in Finnish. Oops.
this wonderful song stirs the soul
Hail Pagans!
I cant just understand how germany can always be producing so many wonderful artists and filosophers during the time. Our civilization would be nothing without the contribution of this land. What a blassed people
+Saulo Caballos Trust me when I say the streets here sound nothing like this anymore, we have those asstwats, asswipes, assholes and dumbfucks all over this country, tainting everything with their stupidity, bad taste, flatness and what else comes with those, sadly :( The world outside of Germany mostly only gets to hear of the artists...
+Mme.Tenebrae I'm pretty sure this is a global issue, idiots have spread all over the world.
+Mme.Tenebrae this is very sad to hear :(
in my country it is so unsafe due to all those idiots surviving and menacing innocent people so i guess it depends where in the word you are XD
+Saulo Caballos That is why they are attacked by the dark forces that rule our world!!
Just discovered this. I am so amazed! Fin language can be so beautyfull. SLAVA from poland to this awesome art : ).

I fell in love today...
Wunderschön!!!
Just sold my house... now I'm ready to live in the woods! with faun of course.
I wasn't aware Faun could sing in Finnish. What can I say, except it's a beautiful song, in one of the most beautiful languages in the world ?
They seem to sing in a variety of languages.
Excellent tune across the board 👍
Faun wie immer zauberhaft ..,
But you can't deny that you guys have the most beautiful language ever.
Arcadia is in Greece, Peloponisos.
My village is there...And this song reminds me of its mythology and legends.
Tosi kaunis laula! :) this is also finish! Aber nicht so eine alte Sprache, wie dieses wunderschöne Lied!
The fact that I don't understand a word of what's being sung is of no consequence to me. The sound of the language is part of the music. That's good enough.
I am by no means a trained musician but... this song is absolutely amazing.
I am now a Faun fan
really well executed and beautiful. Tietenkin suomalaiset ymmärtävät omaa kieltäänsä
Happened to stumble upon this great find the other night -- can't stop listening now! Thanks for uploading, well done!
I haven't heard of a German band singing in Finnish before... Have to admit, it's great:)
I'm finnish but I only understood two words when first listening to the song: Metsän ukko. :D
"Metsän ukko halliparta,
Metsän kultainen kuningas,
Avaa nyt aittasi avara,
Luinen lukko lonkahuta!"
Now you see the beautiful around it fairies.I really think that he did this work with those around him.
The song is called Arcadia - Pan's principle place of worship.
AH, how Nice of them to get US an HD album cover xD
Beautiful
Absolutely wonderful.
**siiiiigh** so beautiful :)
Thanks for the upload!
Simply gorgeous
Simply enchanting! Beautiful :D
This is an absolutely gorgeous song
Great song ,respect from the Celts in Eire.Slainte
Oh mein Gott....WOW....was für ein geiles Lied......
Magnificent. I ve discovered a new band. I already like Medieval Baebes. These people are wonderful.
Huvittava tapa lausua =)
Kinda cute the way they pronaunce the words =)
Cool and dramatic song. Beautiful video scenes.
Beautiful as always all from Faun ♥☆
j'aime beaucoup
I am addicted to this!
"2 Falken" and "Arcadia" are my favourite songs of this band. But one of my friends speak Finnish and she said the singer sings with a German accent! :)
This is an ancient poem from the Kanteletar. It is written in the Kalevala style where everything is told twice with allitteration. Here is a fast translation:
Let the line of forest animals run free,
Let the line of forest animals run free
Along the golden alley
Along the silver road
Where the bridges are made of silk
Bridges of silver, bogs of velvet
With broad cloth the wet places
Bad places with the linen.
New favorite band
This is a really beautiful song. I love it
I was looking to similar sounds, i really like them
Mahtavaa.Thank you for the music, for bringing it to me,finland says big up!;)
it's beautiful in any language
Love this one
Thanks
Suomi kuulostaa tässä jotenkin niin eksoottiselta ja jännältä kieleltä, että oli pakko tykätä! ;D
danke sehr^.^
Thank you for making it clear.
I'm the 77.777th viewer. This is a message from the gods. :)
"Korven" is "of the wilderness". "Korpi" means "wilderness", but "Korven" indicates that it's something that belongs to the wilderness. Korven kuningas = King of the Wilderness. (Native speaker/language enthusiast here btw.)
Simply Amazing!
thanks for uploading this great song!
It seems many Fins can't understand this, oh well, it still sounds nice :P
i Love it!! ♥
Oh grammar nazis are here already. Yeah they dont sound native so what ? You are forbidden to sing in a foreign language? Do you have to do like Lisa Gerrard and sing in fictive languages ?
They are doing a great service bringing these treasures to people of the world ! Enjoy !
This is "old" Finnish so it´s just normal that you may not understand it. Plus, because their accents it really doesn´t sound like Finnish. Terveisiä Suomesta! ;)
Wow, this is great! :))
Wow, this is very nice.
I was listening to this song while I was somewhere in Arcadia.....
You really think so? Wow... Thanks. :) I hear that quite often, got some American friends learning Finnish and they keep telling me how beautiful language it is, yet it is also difficult.
ok here it goes as it is in the book:
Old forest greybeard
golden forest king
open your shed
wide, dislogde the lock of bone
Let a line of them run out
a row of them trot along
down a golden lane
down a silver road
where boards have been laid with silk
boards with silk, swamps with velvet
with broadcloth the slack places
the bad places with linen
Well, I'm very happy and excited to have found this song. I love Faun, and I just found out they've done a song with finnish lyrics. It's as close it can get to estonian :D I just hope that maybe one day they'll use something from the estonian folklore and use it their song, since they have already used hungarian and now finnish :)
And yes, since finnish is not singers motherlanguage, the pronounciation isn't that good, but neither is it absolutely non-understandable. Not that my own is better..
Amazing, just found another band! I knew of Omnia and i saw a few of Faun clips on Omnia songs and i was like "Hmm"
Do you know (or some1 else) more of bands like Omnia and Faun which is singing about Nature and Earth? Faun has great songs but little hard to understend.
Can you recommend me some groups? :)
Env3re I like Cave Growl, they are pagan folk band just like Omnia, not that im saying they have similar style of writing, but just a thing i listen sometimes. Also try Dunkelschön, they play medival music or try Elane they are more on the dark side, but amazing to just listen and relax to. Hope i helped!
scar12346 I'll check them all in this evening. Thanks so much. :)
Env3re You are welcome
Trivia: Quenya, the elvish tongue written by J.R.R. Tolkien, was largely based on Finnish =)
LOL, some nitpicking on the language...Don't understand any song they've sung in languages other than English, but the beauty of their songs is the haunting melodies and their beautiful voices. I've only ever listened to Egil Saga, and now I've added quite a few more to my Pagan list! Beautiful sound, no matter what language it is!
@the world incident capitalism freedom what
@the world incident capitalism freedom my guy/girl I don't understand what you're trying to say. Use english please

These are the first two verses of an actual prayer for Tapio, written down by K. A. Gottlund in Juva, near present-day Savonlinna in year 1816. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? :)
Mística canción. muy relajante.
Yep. It's pretty common, almost expected really, for paganfolk groups to use multiple languages, particularly ancient ones, like Celt and Gaelic. Paganfolk music draws on many cultures' folklore and mythology for sound and lyrical content. It's only fitting that the languages the lyrics are written in are just as diverse as the rest of the material's aspects.
great
Amazing
Thanks for the details!!!Btw my village is there and the place looks very scandinavian(lots of fair trees, boars and tall, blond, blue-eyed people)
Not to forget old norse and latin, some spanish too, if I'm not wrong. LOVE the languages, all of them. Wish I could learn them all
Please make more Musik🥰🌴☘
my soul is..happy:)
it's awesomeness
It's so easy to recognize fin written..But overall, the sense is northern, what insipre long cold desolated lands life as, where contacts human-nature are archaic, so ancestral-primordial (may be more for norvegian nature). The song suggest deep thought and sense on natural forest land.. So i wrote my songs on, yet, ( i stayed visiting that land, and undirectly by letters for many years..). Now, i uploaded on YT, only -The Aurora-, but others (-The Dawn Will Come- as best), i 'll not publisher.
I love It. !!!!
