Dear sameerp, Whenever a segment has to be re transmitted, we should not apply either of Basic or Jacobson’s algorithm since actual RTT is not available. Instead, we will double the time out timer (TOT) whenever the timer times out and make a retransmission.

sir what is the relation beween timeout timer and round trip time? I think it is (TOT = RTT) but you said it as (TOT = 2*RTT)
no ... time out is usually twice of round trip time
