I think the $100, let’s discuss this over kill which why you have disagreements some times. Each of you should have a set amount of money that you can spend with no questions asked. Your debt free enjoy it. I’m not saying it has to be a crazy large number but you have to life as well.
So excited. I have been on a debt free journey for 5 years. Not there yet, but yesterday, I finally saved enoughed to pay a one time payment of a cc that I have had been robbing Peter to pay Paul for 10 years of interest...it is gone one Tuesday forever! Now, of course life happens s and yesterday, the same day I saved enough a 2014 transmission went out. Good news have an extendeed d warranty should only cost 100.00. Debt free life would be great. I teach Dave Ramsey FPU 2 times a year and this keeps me motivated!
I'm 32 and became debt free yesterday! I think the most important thing you mentioned was discussing big purchases with your spouse. Our rule that we're keeping now that we're out of debt is to discuss all purchases over $100 (except for bills and groceries) and to sleep on any purchase over $300 before we make it.
I'm 40 and have a few small things to pay off before i'm completely debt free. My house is paid. A cheap house that I bought and am doing all the work. I have 3 vehicles that are paid, and a 4th project car as well. My bills are minimal. I'm self employed and choose my hours for the most part. Looking forward to the next few years as things are getting better everyday and I can start piling money into savings. I'll never be in debt again.
i would like to get internet back and get tv in my house. our entertainment center has been broken for a long time and weve stuck it out and our furniture is honestly kinda nasty its very old. I cannot wait to become debt free we are almost home free im hoping by this year so we can fix some of these issues.
Just a thought but how about talk about what you do other than the new ways to spend money now that you are debt free. What it sounds like is celebrating a weight loss with eating a cake by yourself.
Just the mortgage left here. Looking at about 10 years left on that and 5 more to retire. I'm having a hard time finding enough whys. We invest more too to save enough for retirement. So no traveling or anything major for spending until we're older and ready for retirement. Hobbies are few to save money. No kids, no big plans or whys for retirement, possibly some travel, some part time work, I'd enjoy volunteering for animal rescues. That's about it. I get bored EASILY. I'd love to do outdoor activities, but I don't know how our health will be later 50s to 60s plus. I'm just not having fun now and get burned out. I need to find more inexpensive fun motivating things to make the journey worth it.
I just took on almost $400k in debt to buy a property after quitting my $60k/yr job and have never seen such good financial freedom potential. Good advise on strategies to live within your means and find ways to cut costs. Im all for learning financial strategies and finding wedge deals in life that can bring in potential for financial growth. Debt can be a hold-down if used incorrectly but a great tool if you know what you’re doing. My advise, work your way out of “bad” debt and look into “good” debt, like property investments or online business. Lots of good podcasts and vlogs to filter through out there. Use those to get ideas and confirm idead by linking up with folks doing those things in meetUps, after all this covid dies down of course. Cheers
Cashflow. The property i bought is four units so I get rental income. I’m “househacking” my living situation, basically allowing rental income to pay my mortgage and prove me with some income. Having a W2 job helps with growing this model, since one needs income to qual for home loans, but in my situation it works out since I’m returning to school to increase my income while allowing my property to cashflow while being a student. Lots of great material out there on how to do this. Biggerpockets podcast is one. Sorry for delay. I count figure out this reply feature lol. Cheers!
I’m one year in to paying off my own debt. It started as just paying off credit cards and has evolved into a goal of total debt freedom. I have a mortgage and two cars but other than that my debt is pretty low now. Hopefully this trend will catch on with us millennial's. All I hope for is that I can get my finances right so I can be blessing to those around me.
Best wishes Jim, make sure your partner is just as dedicated otherwise it cannot work! With my stay at home wife I banned holidays, restaurants, no fancy clothes, until home loan paid took 7-8yrs, managed debt free 5yrs ago, we use standard new cars only and keep 10+yrs, now building 4th house zero debt. It is like getting out of jail as far as I can imagine, monkey off the back! sleep better, especially now COVID-19 happens.
Christian Dela Pena I agree. But my primary goal for the year was to get rid of all debt besides the cars and mortgage. Cars will be next. Once I have cleared all other debt. My “snowball” will take care of the cars pretty fast.
I just turned 23, sell the cars and get a beater. Pay the difference you’ll thank me later. I just got rid of my brand new mustang and it was the best thing I could do. You can sell the cars and attack the other debt too and make a bigger difference at once
Debt Free Millennials Just an opinion. Not hating on anyone. I was “debt free” until I bought a house. It wasn’t anything special to me. Now if I become debt free again AND I own my house, that would be a big deal to me.
My goal is 4-7 years $120,000. In student loans and credit card debt, I save aggressively now, have life insurance, still trying to get a hold of eating out but I no longer use plastic my credit score is decent.
I am 55 years old with very little set aside for retirement at this point. I have always been curious about the stock market and have witnessed some people who played the game right and retired early because they used the stock market. When I ask them, most said that they invested very little to start with, but their portfolio grew. I do have a significant amount of capital that is required to start up but I have no idea what strategies and direction I need to approach to help me make decent returns.
Even with the right technique and assets some investors would still make more than others, as an investor, you should've known that by now, nothing beats experience and that's final, personally I had to reach out to a market analyst for guidance which is how I was able to grow my account close to a million, withdraw my profit right before the correction and now I'm buying again

credit is for suckers. Dont live beyond your means. If you cant afford something then live without it. If you never borrow and never intend to then you dont need a credit score anyway
If you can be disciplined, a credit card does not hurt to have. If you’re making the same purchases you would with a debit card, you’re getting extra rewards back. Like Dave Ramsey says, credit cards aren’t a wealth-building tool, but it has been a vacation expense offset for myself. The biggest thing is budgeting. My monthly credit card bill has been cut in half since budgeting every dollar.

Not a K-stater (rock chalk forever 🥳) BUT I just wanted to say I LOVE watching your channel. I’m graduating college this weekend and I’ve been following your channel for awhile to plan my debt pay back plan!
I've only been $3500 in debt. Strung it along for 2 years. No good reason. Stimulus checks allowed me to knock that shit out hella fast. Never again. I'm so grateful ive never had the amounts debt many other people have. I managed to get in a position this year where i can save $2k a month easily. In a few years, I'll be buying a house outright. No mortgage. Gonna make a construction paper chain like kids do at school for counting the days to Xmas to keep focus.
My wife and I won’t be debt free until about 2024 but it’ll be interesting to see how our spending habits change once we are debt free. We are following the Ramsey plan in total and not just baby step 2 so once we are debt free we still have plans to save an Emergancy fund. Then save to buy a house after we take a celebratory vacation to the UK ;) which is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time but our debt has totally held us back from doing. Great video.
it's good to be debt free, but keep in mind that no matter how much we earn and accumulate, we will all leave this world the same way we came into the world, we end up with the same amount, zero.

I just paid off my American Express debt and I have only 1 more payment on my student loan. Then I will be debt free!!! Now that i'm at this point I can finally see how broke I've been over the past 7 years. Things I want now: Emergency Fund, Car Fund, Retirement Savings, and Annual Cruise Fund.
“ Ummm I don’t eat out every day and you shouldn’t either “ Well last time I checked I’m still in charge of my life but thanks. Also I would love to see how you swing spending only 50$ a month on clothing it would take me 3 months to get a pair of shoes.
Saving up is great but it only works if it's in a timely manner. If it takes 900 years to save up for anything it won't work. If your gonna save up cash for anything you better bust your back and work like a mad man. Then you have a real chance to get out of debt and stay out.
We have less than 5K before we are 100% debt free. Currently dealing with some issues medically. Hoping its all figured out before the year ends. If not another 6 grand will be heading towards health insurance deductibles. But heres to the positive out look!

Are you using like a excel spreadsheet? If so, Can you create a template of it and share it? Obviously clear out any personal data. :)
Dude yes! Check out the toolkit: debtfreemillennials.com/toolkit
“ Ummm I don’t eat out every day and you shouldn’t either “ Well last time I checked I’m still in charge of my life but thanks. Also I would love to see how you swing spending only 50$ a month on clothing it would take me 3 months to get a pair of shoes.
Southwest CREDIT CARD = not being debt free
I just want to clear that.

Did you catch my video on how to negotiate your medical bill? That one might be helpful for you!
Cute. Let me know when you own a house and are debt free. Would love to hear about that :-)
Will do!
We paid off our house in May 2019, so we have been consumer debt free for 11 years now, and completely debt free (mortgage included) for nearly a year. It has been amazing. We will never go back.
My husband and I got started on our debt free journeys separately, but have paid 16k this year since getting married!
That's fantastic!
in my debt free journey my credit score dropped from over 800 to just under 800.. oh well
Also do you have any kids?
Not been negative here but paying rent is not debt free
Debt free without house payments is easy .
Anyway well done keep up the effort
I do not agree that rent is debt. It's a bill/expense that is no different than internet or electricity
Even if you pay off your house, you still have property taxes... so would you call that debt? Rent is just another living expense.
Brian
Just living is an expense. Point is earn more, save more, spend less and passive income
Money goals and couples goals all in one video
