Fancy that, a non-binary trans person who has cancelled themselves out and is now a question mark. What has this world come to?

Would someone please explain to me how Nikki is trans? I think she means that she is "trans" because she is biologically a female and calls herself non-binary? That does not make sense to me. Non-binary is not a sex. There are only two sexes, that is what BI-nary means. So, if you are non-binary you do not consider yourself female or male gender? I'm confused. Regardless, she is a female in regards to her sex, even if she does not consider it her gender. Could someone please explain, or correct me if necessary?

sex is "binary" (although intersex people also exist) gender is a social construct and someone's gender identity might not fit within the traditional gender binary that many society's (including ours) have historically had

@@elwens I already know all that and make that clear in my original post. Your reply does not explain why Nikki thinks she is trans?

    • @elwens

@@PracticalPerry because they don't identify with the gender that they were assigned at birth.

@@PracticalPerrybecause their sexual identity doesn’t match with their sex registered at birth, they are trans. They are non-binary, and use they/ them pronouns.

I am truly happy for Nikki's success. It has come through hard work and commitment and they are very talented. But OMG, enough with all the woke buzz words. So many unnecessary labels. There have been masculine presenting women in Athletics for 100 years. It's nothing new. The need to point out how first and special they are is so much a part of the problem. Nikki is special because they are a fantastic athlete and not because of any gender dysmorphia they might be dealing with.
Another issue with language - the T in LGBT has always represented transsexuals, not trans gender. For the original members of this community, queer was a slur, not a label co-opted by those "playing with" gender, of "trying on" gender roles. I wish they all would stop for a minute and think about others already in those spaces.
