When you were talking about the Passat being twice as expensive as the base as if that was some crazy anomaly, you should keep in mind that you can buy a Durango for $30,000 or a Durango Hellcat for $90,000, same applies for the grand cherokee, the Ram 1500 base versus TRX and I'm sure many other vehicles so that's not out of the norm
Another future classic that’s in its 20+ years now is the Honda Prelude SH, can still be had fairly cheap and always the hand down for tech with super handling from the NSX and the car that introduced VTEC in the 94 model year but ultimately the SH model which was car and drivers best handling for 4 years.
There should be three separate videos covering American, Asian, and European cars. Cadillac Allante , Buick Reatta and Riviera, Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice, Olds Cutlass, - some American made cars of the 80s/90s creeping up in value that had tech and design ahead of its time.
great buy at auction for that 98 grand Cherokee 5.9, I agree those are great value, however I do not agree any mini coopers are gonna go up on value because they’re gonna piggy back GP sales. Mini coopers are the most unreliable cars they’re extended warranties cost more than the value of the car
Almost bought a 300D for $1500 until I drove it and tried to merge on the highway. It’s so slow, it’s unsafe on modern roads. And the auto shifted horribly. Wasn’t worth buying or driving. People have an image in their head of these but when you drive them they don’t live up to it. Hence why they sell for big money online and sell for the beater money they deserve locally.
The 1995 Trans Am will age better than the SN-95, so will the RX-7, and even the Miata is a better investment. The Miata that is better than the Mazdaspeed was the 1999 10AE Miata (any aftermarket turbo would smoke the Mazdaspeed).
First, big TFL fan! But, I gotta say, you guys don’t seem to understand the car collector mentality. You can’t compare vintage eras to modern automotive technology. You can out drag a 1st generation Pontiac GTO with my nieces’ ecoboost Ford Fusion. It’s about nostalgia, legacy and fun. Performance and limited production or rarity are bonuses. The twin-turbo, 6-speed 4th gen Supra is rare to add to its cultural cachet. Collectors will drop good money to own a rare piece of automotive history. The early Datsun Zs are a good example. Not quick or fast by modern standards, but beautiful and rare. I say, “To each his own”, which applies to any type of collecting. If it makes you happy and doesn’t break the bank, I approve.

Still have my 1992 prelude sh. Only owner and it has 4ws. Needs some work but runs like a champ
The probe’s platform was destined to be the Mustang, but Ford listened to its fans and that FWD car became the Probe.
I was behind a Cellica Supra the other day and was impressed at how well that design has aged.
Loved this podcast so much on Spotify I just had to come here and comment on how much I enjoyed this thank you!
love this format with Tommy & Brendan

The Italian Job starred Mark Wahlburg, not Tom Cruise
Love this TRL duo, great job guys
I have an 80 series! Love it! Huge community.
I like some of the 90's Japanese cars. Always kinda wanted an 94-95 MR2 Turbo! Cool little thing.
Tom Cruise was not in the Italian Job... LOL 😂
Wahlberg
The Jenner😂😂😂 that’s freaking hilarious.
Given the current push for EV's, what do you see for the future of collector cars?
Awesome podcast guys. Thanks!

Yeah got to have the turbo diesel, they merge fine. The none turbos are super slow.

My first car was a 94 TA in 97 ❤
Mark Wahlberg was in Italian Job! Silly Tommy.
I have a BONE stock 57,000 mile FD RX7, put it on the classics channel.
FJ Cruiser
It's already too expensive.
Sweet! My bone stock red 70k mile ‘94 Mustang GT 5.0L 5 speed may actually be worth something someday. Who knew….

My two besties together such magnificent angels
No 90s Japanese sports car? Even the NSX?
