I wanted to be loved because I was great; A big man. I'm nothing. Look at the glory around us; trees, birds. I lived in shame. I dishonored it all, and didn't notice the glory. I'm a foolish man.
No - the foolish man is the one who hasn't come to the conclusion you have arrived at. Some arrive earlier, some arrive later, and some never do. Penitence is underappreciated in our society.
Life. We're alive for just a fleeting moment in the time scale of the Universe, so small we're nearly infinitesimal; as far as the Universe is concerned. Then we're gone in an instant. Yet our existence to us, is Everything. In that fraction of an instant of existence, exists our Life, all it's joys, tragedies, boredom, excitement, the failures, and triumphs, our Loves and loss, all in those fleeting moments.
Thanks, I appreciate the sentiment, as I think this is one aspect of the film that it was trying to capture, and I hope you have a great, and very rewarding life. :)
There are so many people that cannot understand this movie. There's a certain mindset I've noticed not a lot of people have, but there isn't really any word to describe it. It's a certain understanding of the way of life and the scale of the universe. It isn't necessarily atheism or spiritualism but a kind of behavior in which the sun is never "just the sun", a tree is never "just a tree". This movie speaks to those people and sadly many will never experience the feelings I just described.
I agree, this work of divine art isn't for many although it should be for everyone but like you said, most of the people don't have that mindset and openness towards the beauty of things and I often wondered why is that. Maybe because contrasts are the ones making life. Anyway, let's just be happy you and I and the other few ones for being able to fully appreciate this magnificent movie
an epic journey, an epic story, an incredible movie which you will never forget in your life time. Terrrence Malick touches your heart and soul at the same time. As deep as your personality you will understand more of this movie otherwise dont bother. It s not for those people with low EI and shallow personalities, you better go watch Justin Bieber or Katy Perry, much better for you.
Brilliant! I have admired Patrick Cassidy's work - this is truly an awe inspiring piece of work as is my other favourite from Patrick Cassidy, namely Vide cor Meum.
I told my Dad to watch it. I thought of all people, he'd get it, an engineer that worked his life on aircraft, in factories and production plants, a sensitive and soft man at heart. He didn't. He said, I have no idea what that movie was about. : ( He did understand The Thin Red Line however, and recommended that great film to me, also another one of Malick's.
THE BEST MOVIE I EVER WATCH!

We are nothing but opportunity in a multiverse we cannot fathom and is awesome.
Thank you.
I have to say, I really really love what you said here
Nice to see that some other people agree about the perspective. Without a comment, thumbs are the only indicator here. ;)
