I'm the number 1 fan of Twin Stix and I think you done an amazing job welding on the Duke. I knew about aluminum welding before but that is the first time I seen it done was on Marks page, Great job Blake.
@@jasonmyers3847 Thanks for the reply Jason. No I mean navy diver. I was stationed with a Jason Myers in Panama City Florida back in the day. I was a class A driver too, way back, for a few years. I got the bug from my dad. He was an O/O. When I was a young kid I would on occasion run with him. Good memories… I still maintain my CDL should the need arise. Hats off to ya Jason with much respect. For an industry that delivers everything one puts their hand on, trucking is so unrecognized and taken for granted! Too many regs, fees, fuel costs etc. My dad would complain about it in the 70’s when he ran. Different era then. I think its worse now. It’s unfortunate. No truckers no survival!!! I also think it should be mandatory for EVERYONE who gets a regular driver license should at least be put into an 18 wheeler simulator and experience the dynamics of how a rig responds in all weather conditions and to understand a rig is a slow moving bullet that can’t stop on a dime or maneuver like a sports car!!!!! I think that would go a long way to bring driving awareness around trucks. 4 wheelers are idiots. Wow that was a rant. Take care Jason. Gods speed and safe travels brother!
Hey Blake. When filling in aluminum frame holes would you recommend using wire feed over stick aluminum. I’m a fairly good stick welder and have a stick welder at hand easily. I can get a wire feed as well. So preheat before I am assuming ? What is the grade of aluminum on marks iron duke mine will be same. Thanks
The spool gun or tig would be my go to, I’ve done aluminum stick and wasn’t a fan. I don’t know the exact type of aluminum but it behaved more like a 5356 than a 6061. You can always preheat, no harm in more prep. Hope it goes well
I thought I had seen every kind of welder but that is a new one on me? Kind of a cross between mig and tig? What is that called and is it strictly for aluminum?
Its a newer style multi-purpose machine. Pretty much every manufacturer has their own model. Mine is an ESAB Rebel 215, It does mig, tig, and stick. I bought the foot pedal for tig and the spool gun for aluminum. Very intuitive machine and incredibly easy to operate.. almost cheating. The only thing it wont do is tig aluminum because its a dc style machine, I have a dedicated tig welder for other projects. thanks for watching
That little guy … you don’t need to worry about that little guy 😂
