To say Nottingham was a no go area for outsiders at that time isn't true at all. The trouble was confined to certain areas and barely impacted the City Centre. Another family controlled the doors in the City Centre and nightlife was as busy as ever.
Yeah I never got told I couldn't go into the city centre when I was a kid. I was a told not to go to the park a lot, there was a lot of places I couldn't go, but for a very high majority of Notts was alright. Theybdisnt like bullies or wrong uns and kept them off the estate, which is all the civilians wanted. A peaceful community, and that's what they got. There's always 3 sides to a story.

The general opinion is that if you didn't do anything against them, their reputation would mean the area was actually safe. I did see the pair of them in a white convertible Porsche once at the edge of the Bestwood estate. The registration was GUN 1 . They were both wearing white tracksuits.
Never seen this before and came across it by accident. Came up against the Gunns after i had an argument with one of their relatives while i was in a Nottingham Nightclub in the 90's. I went to the Nightclub again the next week and was assaulted by 4 blokes and was then hit with a beer glass that one of Gunn brothers had been using leaving me with bad cuts to my ear and neck area. They did some good stuff in Bestwood but then things went seriously wrong for them, the best part of 40yrs prison for Colin is excessive in my opinion. There is worse out on the street past and present that have not served those sentences and will never serve them, the Stirlands didn't deserve to die as they can't help who their son was and what he did to the Gunns nephew and mate 😢. I struggle to understand why they are referred to as cartels. I thought that in britain we are known as gangs or families. This cartel referencing seems to me as if they are trying to model themselves on the columbians / mexicans which is absoloutely absurd.
